Burst and Bloom [Bass]
Since his first meeting with the Primo he had been absolutely hooked. He hadn’t had the chance to see him on his own, gods knew his stupid sisters were always getting in his way and hogging everything. Cloud was alright he supposed but the girls drove him mad.

His paws had certainly been full with helping Storm with her children, it didn't help that the summer brought on a terrible humidity that made him feel heavy. Summer also meant that he was one year older, really starting to get up there in age. Without an heir, he was worried that the pack would fall and crumble after his passing. Letting out a sigh, he dragged his body out of the lake and shook out his pale coat. Stretching out his limbs, he started to pant as he made his way towards the den. The kids had been really keeping him on his paws though, their energy had made him start to feel less and less like an old man. They certainly kept him active, that was for sure. Smiling softly, he headed over towards their den to see how they were fairing.
Cutting through the field of dry grass, he squinted his yellow eyes to look passed the heat waves. He could hear the hissing of the snakes at his paws as he walked, but wasn't too concerned. At this time of day they were more interested in soaking up the suns rays. Well, there was more than enough heat to go around for them. Huffing, he skirted around a rock and just happened to catch the sight of a child resting on it. He had to do a double take, the waves of heat distorting the boys gray form. Bass paused with a single paw raised, twisting his head to fully look at Tyranis. "Oh, well there is one of you now. I was just about to go check on all of you," he woofed softly, taking a seat and stretching upwards so that his paws rested on the top of the warm rock. "What are you up to today my boy?" With a tilt of the Primo's head, he peeked around the child to see if there were more puppies on their way. He couldn't see any yet, but they were never far along. There seemed to be a bit of a disconnect between all the children, but there was always that in little ones as they figured out their way. It didn't help that they had no idea who or what their father was, which was why Bass was so adamant on being a part of their lives. Not only as their alpha, but as a strong male role model. Looking back at the white marked boy, he leaned forward to tickle his ribs with his nose in an affectionate manner.

He shrieked with laughter and rolled onto his side, pawing at the air surrounding the alpha’s nose. “I was looking for you!” He piped excitedly, his tail waving between his legs. To him it seemed he had intercepted the Primo just in time, if he had come any closer to the den there was no doubt in his mind that his sisters would horde his attention and leave him behind again. To the boy, Bass was already god-like, strong, intelligent and so much bigger than any other wolf he’d seen. Not that he had seen any other wolves than his family and Bass but that wasn’t important. Bass was powerful and everything he wanted to be. “Can you teach me how to be a Primo like you?” He asked, his eyes wide and full of wonder. If he was Primo everyone would have to do whatever he said no matter what and even at his tender young age he knew that power and control were what he wanted most.

Bass let out a chuckle at the pups wild giggles, lapping his tongue over his exposed belly as he playfully snapped at his paws. His ears twisted around to listen to the snakes around them, but besides that he was totally focused on Ty. "Looking for me?" he chirped, pulling back as he sat on his butt. It wasn't too far away to come over here, but it still made him uneasy that they were off on their own. This did give him a chance to spend some more one on one time with them, they were certainly a handful on their own. Humming as he thought of what to offer him, Ty pipped up and asked if he could teach him to be a Primo. The man let out a hearty chuckle as he nosed the boy, looking around where they were now. There was no harm in showing him the borders, while it was warm it was always good to reinforce them. "There's a lot of things to learn, but how about a border patrol to start it off?" Bass asked, raising a single brow. It was a large territory to walk, they could see how far they got. Spinning around he headed back towards the territory lines, peeking over her shoulder to see if the pup was following him.

What had been a particularly hot summer to Abaven had been the only weather Tyrains had ever known and the fact that the seasons even could change was a concept still too big for him. Still, the patches of yellow in otherwise vibrant green trees hadn’t escaped him. “Hey Bass, what’s happening to the trees?” He asked, cocking his head to the side.

He kept his steps small and at a pace that the pup could keep up with easily. He didn't want to drop too far behind as he fell into the familiar path of their borders. After all these years there was a noticeable path that followed the scent markers, a comforting feeling on his pale paws. It was so automatic now that he could do this in his sleep, he had to remind himself a few times that there was a little one following him. He paused to re-add his scent to the boundary line, peeking over to see if Ty saw what he was doing. Rubbing up against the trunks, raising his leg against scrubs. Tossing a smile over his shoulder at the boy, he moved on at their steady pace. The giggles from him made his heart swell, Bass couldn't even begin to describe what it was like to be doing this again. He could very well be the pups grandfather, but that didn't take any of the fun out of it. Besides, not many of his kids expressed interest in learning what he did. Maybe it was because they had felt more torn, and with everything that was happening with Wren he didn't blame them. Licking his lips at the thought of her name, he shoved the thoughts aside before they tarnished his mood.
When Tyranis asked a question, he turned his golden eyes towards the trees to see the changing colour. It wouldn't be long before autumn struck the lands, hopefully taking some of the heat with it. Bass fell into step beside the whelp, looking down to nuzzle the top of the head. "It's what happens when the seasons change. In the summer, there is enough sunlight and water to keep the trees well fed. In autumn it starts to get colder, so the leaves change colour before they fall from the trees. In the winter, the tree has no more leaves so it can have a rest in the harsh season. When spring comes, little buds start to grow and they grow their leaves all over again. You can always tell the season by looking at trees like this," Bass explained as they walked, pointing his nose towards an evergreen that was standing proud and tall. "Trees with spiky needles like that never lose their leaves like the others, which is why we call them evergreens, because they are forever green." He loved the curious minds of children, and hoped that he would be able to answer anything that came up.

Bass had mentioned the evergreen and explained that these trees didn’t seem to abide by the same rules as other trees and were green throughout the year, and while he wanted to know if the tree would somehow object it was too perfect an opportunity to showcase what he had learned so far. He wobbled up to the tree and brushed his coarse fur against its bark before admiring the lower hanging branches. He laughed and raised on his back legs to bat at one branch particularly close to the ground and sank his needle sharp teeth into it before drawing back, his nose wrinkled. “Bleh!” He exclaimed, trying to scrape the resin from his tongue. If trees were alive this one clearly didn’t like to be eaten.

It was hard to think back on when he was a child, but he wondered if he had had this many questions. This curiosity about life and what was living. Bass nodded his head at the boys question, they were indeed alive. "In some ways, nearly everything around you is living. The grass grows, it feeds animals that feed us. They are all apart of a big circle, we would not be able to survive without one little thing. even the snakes in the plains are a part of it, without them there would be too many mice, and then they would eat all the seeds," He explained softly, taking a seat at the edge of the borders for a moment. He chuckled as he bound up to the evergreen, seeing him to reach up to taste it. The pale man knew that it wasn't going to taste good, but he would have to learn that for himself. Standing up when he spat them out, he lovingly nuzzled his neck. "In one way or another, everything around you has a life on your own. Sit really still and listen, can you hear it?" His voice dropped into a whisper as he closed his eyes, a slight breeze rustling the leaves in the trees. Branches creaked under the draft, the grass whispering to each other around their paws. There was the soft hiss of snakes looking for mates, the gentle call of birds building their nests. Everything around them was breathing, living in one manner or another.
Opening his eyes, he looked down at Tyranis with a look of wonder in his eyes. What he wouldn't give to see this world like he did now, without the shade of hate, betrayal, and pain that blackened its bright colours. He would love to see it like that again, even in this small moment he was able to take a breath and really think. But it was far too serious, he bet the boy was getting bored. Flouncing around him, he nipped softly at his flanks before he took off running, peeking to see if the game of tag was under way. They could ask more questions later, now it was time to reward him with a little play.

All at once he was pulled from his trance by Bass, nipping at him. He opened his eyes, a wide grin breaking across his features before he gave a shrill giggle and took off after the Primo as fast as he could with his too-big paws. He stumbled once or twice but was far too encouraged by the Primo to let it stop him. “I’ll get you!” He said gleefully as he came closer to Bass’s form

Tyranis was still pretty young for lessons like that, at least for a long period of time. He was at a stage where he needed to have all the fun he could get, the full weight of the world would come crashing down soon enough. Bass let out a chuckle as he fled from the pup, careful to not take off too fast. He was close enough that he could feel the child's breath on his tail, and quickly the Primo spun around to scoop up the boy in his front limbs. Quickly tucking him towards his chest he rolled across the ground while letting out a series of growls and barks.
Bass came to a stop on his back. Ty tangled in his limbs across his belly. Laughing, he leaned up to boop his nose gently against his. His tongue flopped out of his maw as he panted, stretching out his legs with a groan. It was times like these that he was reminded that he wasn't as young and limber as he used to be. Letting out another chuckle, he peeked at Tyranis' similar coloured gaze with a smile. "Well now, how's that for a patrol? Probably the most fun I've had doing one in a long time." After he finished talking his head flopped back down to the ground, peeking up at the blue sky above them.
ooc// There is some powerplay here, I hope you don't mind! I was going to ask you but I need to get these posts done. xD If you want me to change it let me know!

Bass' heart nearly melted at the child's words, watching as he slowly started to drift to sleep. Sighing, he kept his paws around him to hold him fast to his chest, placing a tender kiss on the top of his head. "Love you too, kiddo." He replied softly, resting his head back on the ground as he glanced around them. He couldn't really carry him away, not when he was passed out like this. So Bass rolled towards his left, carefully tucking the young boy against his belly as he curled protectively around him. A nap didn't sound so bad... it was pretty early. Yawning, the alpha rested his head on his paws and took one last look at the sleeping Tyranis. These pups were so special, he really did care for them. Smiling softly as another yawn parted his jaws, he closed his eyes and fell into a light sleep. Still his ears twitched at the sound of anything nearby, still aware of their surroundings as he napped lightly.
