She raced down towards the tide, snapping her jaws at the waves as the receded from her. She let out a loud laugh, head tipping backwards to keep the edges of her scarf from getting wet. When it started coming towards her again she turned tail and raced away, playing tag with the ocean. The sound of her bells joined in with her laughter, her tail spinning behind her at the thrill of the game. She may be a woman, but there was still a child inside of her. A wide grin spread across her face, and she turned to chase the wave again when she saw that it was still coming for her. Oh crap! Blue and brown eyes grew wide as she tried to take off, but in her clumsy manner, she tripped over her front paws. Landing face first into the sand, her hind end flew upwards before it slammed back down onto the ground. The water raced up and dampened her whole lower half, making her let out a squeal as she tried to pick herself up to her paws again. As the water pulled back, she was able to stand on her feet again, only that she was soaked and covered in sand. Scowling, she looked down at her now sandy scarf and dirty legs. Muttering a curse, she shook herself, but it still wasn't good enough. She was going to stink like salt water now! Growling, Jaelle made her way towards the rocks, picking her way up to try and find a tidal pool to rinse off in. Soon enough she found a deep one, deep enough to stand in. But before she could make her way into the pool, she looked down and saw all the life that was stuck in there. A sound of wonder came from her maw as she flopped down on her rump, bells giving one last call as she sat down. There were little fish swimming around in a circle, starfish and sea anemones clinging to the rock face. A crab scuttled back and forth, her gaze trying to follow it. Jay completely forgot about washing up, totally absorbed in the life inside the pool.

What in damnation was that sound? She was picking her way across the beach - with the salty water far, far away - when what could only be described as a twinkling sound, reminiscent of song birds, reached her sensitive ears. It was a sound she had never heard before, and she was more than curious about it as she followed it. It wasn't too difficult to follow it - it was constantly sounding, and soon enough she breathed in the scent of a wolf. A wolf was making that sound? Interesting. She crested a sand dune, and lo, there was the wolf... running. Thankfully, not towards her, but towards rocks. And it had some sort of... thing around its neck, from what she could see. She'd follow from a distance, until finally she reached the rocks; taking a breath, she'd hop up onto the tallest one to peer down below. There was water in a pool, there, with the wolf sitting down in it. She'd just watch silently, wondering if this monochrome visitor would notice her presence.

She was so drawn into the pool of life at her paws that she didn't notice that she had company, not until the winds shifted. Perking upwards at the strange scent, her head moved around slowly to try and spot the creature. Bi-coloured eyes narrowed until she saw the black cat sitting upon a rock higher up, and Jaelle offered the creature a small smile. Lifting up a single front paw she flapped her arm up and down in an awkward sort of wave, her bells calling out towards the cat. "Hey, you've got pretty eyes like me!" she commented with a soft laugh. Jay was wary of strangers, but this cat was not a wolf. She was a totally different species, and she liked all sorts of critters. She knew that they didn't talk back, but she didn't mind just talking out loud. She was a pretty cute kitty cat too! She looked so soft and cuddly, she just wanted to curl up with the black kitty and take a nap on her fluff. Chuckling to herself, she moved over to the rock face, raising herself up on to her hind legs. Touching her front paws to the rock, she stretched up to try and touch her nose to the cat's soft chest. "Do you want some fish, pretty kitty? I can help you catch some if you like!"

The wolf remained oblivious, and no more twinking sounds. So, the water was muffling the sound. She had half a mind to dive into the water to see for herself when the wind shifted... and the wolf noticed her. A paw was lifted, and - there, the jingle! Eyes snapped to the wolf's wrist. She could see some sort of contraption around it that was not natural, and she bet that was it; it had to be! She wanted to lick it. and bite it. And roll around with it. It sounded fun. Then the paw disappeared back into the water, and her ears would flick with disappointment. Awww. But then the wolf would speak, and the cheerful voice would cause the cat to let out a purr. She noted the eyes, so similar to her own; this wolf's blue eye was even on the same side! But whereas Amaranthe had a fiery eye, this wolf had a muted tan eye. It was mild, but still very pretty. Aside from the wordless purr, though, she stayed silently, eyes glittering with a sort of joy. Those eyes would widen briefly as the wolf stood and put her paws on the rock, but Amaranthe didn't move; this wolf had shown no signs of aggression. She would laugh softly, almost a giggle, when the wolf poked her nose at her chest fur, and she'd scoot forward so her fur was easier to reach. Her ears would perk at the mention of fish. "Fish," she purred. "That would be amazing, pretty wolf."

The kitty cat started to purr with affection, and Jaelle wondered how her culture thought that they were bad luck. She was so cute! When she stood up to nuzzle into her soft chest, the cat pushed forward. Jay hummed softly, feeling the fur brush across her nose. When she commented on the fish, she was about to jump down and catch the cat one anyways. But that is when she spoke. Blinking, she pulled her head back and stared at the cat. "You... you just spoke! I understood you!" she barked, lowering herself down to all fours again. Her head tilted to the side, her mind spinning. Have animals always been able to talk like that? Or was she drunk or something off of that special drink? Her mouth stood open slightly, jaws hanging slack as she tried to process everything. She could just be hearing things, after all, she did talk to herself a lot. Maybe she had just been talking so much that she made up a voice to talk to her back. Jaelle completely forgot about the fish, they could do that later, after she found out if the cat had really spoken.

It seemed the wolf enjoyed the attention as much as Amaranthe did, although the quiet peacefulness soon ended by her words. the feline watched with utter amusement at the shock from the wolf, laughter spilling from her as the wolf barked. Amaranthe winked at Jaelle, rising to her paws and stretching. "But did you really?" she questioned, grinning. The slack-jawed expression from Jaelle was one of the best she ever received, and oh was it absolutely hilarious. She'd gotten stutters, wide eyes, and shocked faces... but never quite mouth open with wide eyes and shock. It was quite satisfying.

The cat laughed at her, and then tossed her a wink. Completely shocked, Jaelle didn't quite know what to say, or do for that matter. Sputtering, her jaw hung lax as the beast spoke once again, asking if she did indeed here her talk. "I did too, don't try to confuse me! No wonder why the gypsies think of cats are signs of evil," she muttered, starting to pace along the cliff. Her bells rang as she did so, the monochrome babe shaking her head back and forth. "I have to be dreaming, there is no way that a cat could talk and understand me. Or maybe I ate some plant that I shouldn't have.." she said to herself. Pausing in her steps, and bent down and bit her right foreleg, making her pull back and yelp in pain. Okay, so maybe she was awake. Turning back to the cat she narrowed her bi-coloured eyes, standing back up on the cliff and poking her face close to the black cat. "Okay, so you're real, I know that. But how were you able to talk?! In all my travels I have never met another animal be able to talk like us, let alone understand us. Did you get cursed or something? Are you a magic cat?" Jay asked, her questions demanding an answer.

At Jaelle's protest, Amaranthe tossed her head back and laughed, eyes twinkling with amusement. Even with that little tidbit of info - cats being evil? - she was still thoroughly entertained by this jingly wolf. Speaking of jingles... Jaelle moved, and a 'mrrRRR?' came from Amaranthe, as she snaked her head closer, a paw dangling as she half-heartedly tried to swat, claws sheathed, towards Jaelle. Nevermind that shse was on a perch too tall to reach; she did it anyways.

The cat was jerked out of her fascination when Jaelle bit herself, and Amaranthe drew herself up, confusion in her eyes. Why...? Oh wait, didn't the jingly wolf say something about dreaming? Snorting quietly, she waited patiently as Jaelle spoke again. Her question made her pause - why... she wasn't quite certain. Just around it? Hmm. Okay, plan bullshit. "Hey, how do you know it's me. Maybe it's that you can understand me, and not the other way around."
