Karabela found herself heading north.  Bass was discussing potential alphaship with Lark while the young femme fidgeted about the pack lands.  She'd gotten her hopes up she supposed, not that she was really angry with Bass.  It made sense to discuss this with Lark who was the rightful heir to Abaven but she couldn't help wondering how the rest of the family would feel about her ambition.  Many of the early conflicts in Abaven were between the Destruction family and those who were not Destructions…. or at least that's what she remembered being said even if she hadn't quite felt that herself.  Lillie had certainly been passionate about it.  Would Karabela be seen as some sort of monster for trying to give an old man a bit of respite to grieve?  It had been a mutual understanding after all and no one else had stepped forward.  It was fine to talk and react after a decision was made but another completely to make the first move.

Still, she supposed accepting Bass' offer may have over-stepped some line and what-in-the-hairy-armpits-of-a-hibernating-bear were those?!  Karabela's musings stopped dead as she stared at the massive trees ahead of her.  Oh wow cool!  She trotted towards them before a memory slowly filtered through her mind.  Oh right… this was pack land.  She'd met her aunt Aserlín at the border some time ago when she'd been hunting for her son.  However, as Karabela neared the border she noticed that the usually strong and distinct scent markings were fading.  That was unlike the vikings.  They usually took excellent care of the borders…

Karabela's eyes narrowed.  Something had definitely happened here and she'd howl for a moment, ears twitching but receiving no answer.  She howled again and only the wind would answer her.  They were gone?  Carefully she stepped over the border and into the Red Forest.  Nostrils flared, her senses on high alert for any sign of the wolves that would most certainly skin her alive if she were caught here but as she walked it only became more and more clear that the viking pack had disbanded.

Karabela stood still for a moment, the gears in her mind turning.  Here were packlands ripe for the taking.  However, she agreed to take Abaven if Lark didn't want it.  If.  That she hadn't received an answer yet meant that either Lark was mulling it over or perhaps there was now another candidate.  It made sense.  Family was the most important thing to Abaven after all and well… while it would certainly be the harder road to start a pack from scratch Karabela had never been one to fear the harder way.  There was also something tantalizing about starting from scratch.  Making something of nothing and this way would certainly cause less conflict and pain to her former pack mates.  She hoped Bass would not be sore at her for backing out of the deal but fate had just handed her an opportunity and she was not going to pass it up.  What were the odds that a pack would disband just as she was ready to start one herself?  This… this was destiny.

Excitement swelled in her breast with a new burst of confidence.  This was a sign if there ever was one and she was determined to make something great of herself. "This one's for you mother.  I'm going to make something of myself.  For better.  For worse.  Your sacrifice made me stronger, the challenge of a pack will make me stronger, I will walk through this fire, I will be tempered into what I was always meant to be."  Tipping her head back she howled a strong, clear note into the sky.  Ivory Ridge was hers.

She wouldn't have heard the call had she been in Abaven's lands, and it was certainly a call she had not expected to hear. It was young Raba, and she was claiming herself a pack. A wide grin split her features, and she broke into a run - the young woman was in the North, and she would definitely be there to greet her. She deserved it, Vali believed, and Vali would be there to support her.

It was that thought that made the woman pause - wait. Would she? The thought had come so casually, so naturally, that it took her a minute to even realize what she thought. To be there to support Karabela, that would involve leaving Abaven. That thought didn't scare her or upset her as much as she thought it would, and that too made her pause mentally. Did she want to leave Abaven? Did she want to leave Bass? Then again, the man who was her childhood friend and the tired, weary man now were two very different wolves. She did not recognize him anymore, and did not see a use for herself in Abaven. She kept wandering away, finding herself back into the habits of a loner and travelling, sleeping outside pack territory and generally living like a loner. Perhaps this would better suit her.

She wuoldn't abandon Bass, though. No - and she'd not abandon Abaven, either. She'd make sure someone was there wiith sufficient healing training in wounds and whatnot that they could take care of the pack, and would be willingt o work with them after she left to ensure it. She'd ask Bass, too. But first - she would be there for Karabela.

It didn't take much longer to arrive at the speed she was going, and she skidded to a stop, her breath fast heaving in her chest. Tongue flopping out of her mouth, and pride shining in her eyes, she dipped her head to Karabela - who may or may not be her future alpha.

The journey here was long, that of course was for certain. This was something a long time coming. If the novice healer could make some use of himself, then that was all the more better. At least he could carefully get to know the members of this new pack. Support Karabela and her members. It seemed someone else was here too. Vali. Who he among a lot of other wolves only knew her by name and a blurry sense of a face. As his paws carried him there.

Qualm would look to her, his potentially future alphess. As he smiled and dipping his head towards the woman. He certainly hoped that she went uncontested. The healer would take a seat and breath. As hard as this would be, it would be a new experience for him to take with stride. After all, he wanted to build his own life. That wasn't built by someone else controlling it.

From all the way down in the East, Bass perked up when he heard the echoes of a howl from Karabela. It would seem that ifs and buts were just not enough for her, and she honestly didn't blame her. This way she was starting fresh, allowing herself to start fresh with no drama behind it. Even though he wasn't there, he was still proud of her. She really was making her own way, setting her sights high. He also knew that it meant it was time to let her go. Smiling from atop his den, he thumped his tail on the warm stone under him. "You'll do good kid," he whispered to himself, laying his head back down on his paws. Ivory Ridge was going to be hers, if no one challenged her for it. He hoped that they would be neighbours soon, he missed having a pack that shared his borders. With a sigh, he really did wish the female well. He would always be here if ever she needed him, but he doubted it. She was wise beyond her years, and would make a fine alpha.

-exit Bass cause he never really entered? Just making her release more official-
