High Voltage
He stopped for a moment to rest and found himself unable to keep himself from darting through the small piles of leaves accumulated at the base of the sparse trees, giggling wildly as he rolled onto his back and kicked the crunchy leaves into the air, and rolled onto his paws to catch them. He shrieked with laughter as he was showered in various shades of red and orange, a wide childish grin on his face. He hated the idea of playing with his sisters but never missed an opportunity to play with small animals like mice and bugs, and of course whatever adults that would pay attention to him.

Still, there were only five children in the pack, which means the shrieking likely belonged to one of them... and she was, after all, already on her way there. With the colors changing into the vibrant hues of reds, golds, and browns, it wasn't hard to see the grey-blue boy writhing in the loose piles of leaves. The white female bounded closer, her yellow eyes sparkling as she took a flying leap... and landed with a thump in one of the other piles of leaves, her paw already swiping at them to fling them at the boy. She didn't say anything; she didn't need to with this.

He returned the playful growl with a growl of his own, his tiny jaws snapping at her muzzle before he collapsed in a series of shrill giggles as her fangs tickled him. He rolled onto his back and batted at her with his large paws, a wide grin on his face then rolled onto her side to snap at her large fluffy tail. He had seen her at the meeting but aside from his proud declaration of someday becoming Abaven’s leader had never formally met her. He was far too young to understand just how important he and his siblings were or the change they had caused in Bass and what that meant for Abaven. He could only be himself; playful, loveable and cute…Around adults anyway, his sisters would never receive the same warmth and love he showed the grown-ups. He rolled onto his paws and ran in a clumsy circle around her, laughing and giggling until his chest hurt and his face ached.
