Once again, Faine found herself returning to this place to merely get some water. Now that spring, er, autumn was here she felt like they didn’t necessarily need to worry about water anymore. Which was nice, but Talis still needed medicine and that she was still worried about. She decided that for now, Dragon probably would have to deal with planning on that raid. She had offered help numerous times and she was sure Kharnage wanted to go on that scouting trip soon. So she took in a deep breath, not wanting to stress too much and moved towards the water. Lowering her skull to take a short drink.

Pyre was nestled down in a grouping of bushes, his eyes trained in on some kind of rodent kind of thing that was standing on top of the odd pile of tree branches in the water. He had never seen a beaver or a dam before so he had no idea what it could be. Could he eat it? Would he even be able to hunt it while it was on that pile of tree branches? Sure if could hold the weight of that rodent thing, but he didn't know if it would crumble under his weight. The sound of someone lapping at the water caught his attention and he glanced away from the weird flat-tailed creature for a moment, spotting the darker-colored woman a short distance away. Pyre poked his head out of his hiding spot just enough so that if she looked in his direction she would be able to see him. "Pssssst!" he whispered, hoping he wouldn't have to get too loud for her to hear him. "Hey, over here! Do you know what that is?" he asked, motioning with his head toward the beaver.

A noise caught her ear, hearing somebody whisper to her and her head lifted from the waters. Her carmine gaze scanning the area before she saw a rather brightly colored wolf poking their head out of the bushes. It seemed like they wanted to be quiet so she lowered her body to the ground and quickly stalked into the hiding spot. It was a younger boy, asking what the creature was on a pile of sticks in the river. She smiled and nodded, “Yes, it’s a beaver,” she said, her voice was low and soft so the pair wouldn’t catch the creature’s attention. “Are you trying to hunt it?” she asked, as she wasn’t the best huntress herself but maybe this boy knew what he was doing. Or not, either way this should be pretty entertaining to witness.

Luckily for him it seemed the fellow wolf did indeed know what it was. A beaver. He had never heard of such a thing in his whole life, but he couldn't imagine that it was any different from any other rodent thing he had encountered. He gave a small nod to her question, glancing at the beaver who was still busy at work on his wood thing in the water. "I was thinking about it... but I didn't know if I could hunt it," he replied, still speaking in hushed tones so they wouldn't bother his potential prey. As he was speaking the beaver seemed to finish what he was doing and went to climb down off the wooden thing and began to walk back across it to shore. Well if he was going to hunt it this would be the time, right?

She shifted his weight a bit to get more securely on all of his paws and watched the beaver closely, waiting till it was actually on the shore before he darted out of the brush as fast as he could. Unfortunately his element of surprise didn't help him out as much as he thought it would and the beaver turned tail and ran back across his dam, hitting Pyre in the face with his broad tail on the way out. Pyre growled and took two steps out onto the wooden stick structure before he realized it was a mistake. He weighed a lot more than that beaver did and as soon as he was out on the dam, balanced not so gracefully on the branches and sticks, he felt it start to give under him. He yelped and jumped off into the water with a splash and grumpily brought himself back to shore. If there was one thing he hated more than being cold it was being wet. Pyre shook himself off, but the scowl on his face said he still wasn't pleased with the situation.
