He was restless. Nobody had bothered to train him, and he hadn't bothered to seek anyone else out to do so. If his mother was so quick to abandon them, then he figured the pack cared just as less. Sure, he had attended training when called, but beyond that? Nothing seemed to come of it. He had no battle experience against another wolf, but he had plenty against prey animals. It wasn't enough though...he was tired of tasting the same old dull blood day after day, and today he craved something new.

Pausing at a good spot in the battlefield, the yearling pulled his head back and called for an opponent, defensive stature set in place, red eyes narrowed as he waited for someone to come...

Traveling again was interesting. So far Amos had seen very few faces as he went on a solitary march across the lands he was only beginning to become familiar with, intending on heading north eventually but in no rush to do so just yet. Wandering without direction gave one time to think, and today Amos thought of fighting. All the adults in his life when he was little seemed to be good at it, or were at least learning and capable if not expert. Talking to Aurielle and meeting Ashiel had him wanting to learn more and do more. It was purely by accident that he found himself at the battlefield, but perhaps fate had sent him here, drawn towards the scent of past battles, spilled blood, and a faint odor of dust that seemed to hang in the air, never fully settling after being stirred up in past brawls. What a place this was! When he heard the howl ring out that settled it. He was gunna see what this sparing stuff was all about! Loping towards the call, Amos soon found him facing another yearling and offered the boy an easy, oddly relaxed grin as he shouted a greeting, "Hey there! Lookin' for a good spar there are ya'?" Walk. "Speak!" "Think."

It wouldn't take long for someone to heed his called, it seemed. Crimson gaze fell upon a male about the same height as him, a dark pelt, and interesting colored eyes. Those eyes seemed to compliment the males pelt, and Azazel couldn't help but to stand and stare, transfixed by this. It took him a moment to respond, but when he did, he nodded. "Yeah, since the old geezers in my pack decided I'm not worth the time to train." That's what he told himself, anyway.

He eyed the stranger, curious as to who this was. He wasn't a pack wolf, obviously. At least...not from his. He didn't know what other packs were out there, but this male seemed to be a loner anyway. "What's your name, anyway? You're a loner, right?"

Amos listened as the other boy spoke, canting his head a bit and frowning. Well, that sounded pretty unfortunate. Brightening up a bit he declared, "Well, I'm not good enough to teach but a spar I certainly can offer!" His slate tail would fan the air wildly, dark tip almost hitting his sides at the peak of his excitement. "If no one wants to help you, help yourself, right?"

Amos grinned and laughed for a moment, amused by how intriged the pack wolves his age seemed to be by his loner status. Nodding, he introduced himself, "Name's Amos Allantide, what's yours? And yes, I'm a loner. Have been my whole life long. Not that that means much if I'm a year old..." Shrugging at his own awkward attempts at a reply, he let himself trail off. Then, having noticed the stranger's scent and realizing it was somewhat familiar, Amos asked, "Would you happen to be from... Celestial?" That was what Aurielle called it, right?

Alright...He decided, he kinda liked this guy. Though he was too cheery for his taste, maybe that would change. The male had a point, if nobody else was willing to help him then he would help himself. "Maybe we can learn together then," he stated simply, but he was pretty eager to put himself to the test.

The other yearling would give him a name, confirming he was a loner. "My name is Azazel," he would decide to leave out his surname. It wasn't of any importance to him anymore after his mother had decided to up and leave. "And yeah, I am from that pack...but it's full of old wolves so..." Well, asides from his siblings and the other pups as far as he knew, but he didn't quite feel like talking about his dumb pack. He had a few interactions when Mask had called trainings, but asides from that nobody else really talked to him so he didn't particularly care too much about it. "So...should we begin?" Honestly, he was eager to get things started. Idle chit chat could wait till later, right?

With a firm nod Amos signaled his agreement. He would honestly be super excited to have someone to practice with. So far he hadn’t met anyone his own age that lived nearby who was interested in such things. Who knew, maybe eventually he could have a regular sparring partner! That’d be really great.

Making sure to remember the other boy’s name for future reference, he was pleased to know he’d correctly recalled Celestial’s pack scent. Of course, knowing that that was the pack where he said no one would help him was confusing. Aurielle had told him her dad might teach him and spar with him, right? Oh well, for now he had something new to focus on and would shrug off other thoughts until the spar was over. ”I’ll gladly start, if you don’t mind!”

Giving his opponent time to respond, Amos set his defenses, legs spreading equal distances apart, claws biting into the earth, head and tail aligning with his spine, ruff pulling forward over his vitals as his hackles raised and his chin tucked down over his throat. Coming to stand ten feet from this challenger, he checked over his defenses one last time. He’d narrow his eyes and pull his lips back into a determined snarl, then, when he was ready, with knees bent he would surge forward and attempt to close the distance between them, coming in head on face to face with Azazel.

As Amos went to approach the other yearling he would try to come in low, knees bent and body staying as low as he could get while still trying to race towards Azazel. Then, he would aim to slow himself just as he was about two feet away, at the same time straightening his front legs and throwing himself upwards, hoping to slam the upper center of his chest into the dead center of Azazel’s chest. As he did that, he’d try to angle his head to his own right( Azazel’s left) and attempted to bite where Azazel’s throat met his neck, upper jaw seeking to land just behind the other yearling’s jaw bone a few inches down from his ear, while the lower portion of Amos’ jaw sought purchase just below his opponent’s jaw.

"I'll gladly start if you don't mind!" Azazel nodded, lowering himself into a defensive stance, though he mostly copied Amos since he himself hadn't really been taught. Most of his defenses would come naturally and by instinct, however. Head lowered over his throat, chin tucked and tail flagged out to align with his spine. Crimson eyes narrowed, hackles rising along his spin and his shoulders rolled forward, scruff bunching against the back of his head. Like Amos, he bared his fangs in a half snarl, half grin and when his opponent shot forward, so too would he.

Amos would seek to come head on with him, but when Azazel noticed that his opponent started to slow down with the last couple of feet between them, the white masked male made a quick sidestep to his own right, effectively dodging Amos' head on chest collision. He sought to bring them parallel, his left side against Amos' right side, and he would jut his left shoulder forward then, seeking to jam it right into his opponents ribs behind Amos' right elbow in an attempt to wind and bruise the male. Even with his movement, however, Azazel would not escape unscathed. Amos' teeth would cut his left side just behind his shoulder blade, leaving behind moderate lacerations that he was sure would bleed. Ignoring the pain, however, Azazel sought to make a bite of his own.

Jaws opened up, the yearling turning his head to his left and downwards as he sought to land a bite on Amos' right side. Lower fangs sought to cut and slice his opponent, aiming for the tender flesh behind the ribs, and top fangs sought to cut downwards from the top of where the rib cage ended. Though he figured he wouldn't be able to get a grip on his opponent with his bite, perhaps his teeth would at least cut and pinch in a way that would be uncomfortable. Lastly, his left hind paw would rise off the ground momentarily, then drive downward as he sought to stamp it on top of Amos' right forepaw. It wasn't enough force to break toes, but bruise them? Hopefully.

Amos let a breath hiss out of his lungs as his opponent made the dodge. He slowed too much! Oops. Tail twisted and flagged out even with his spine to maintain his balance, legs adjusting so they remained spread equally apart and his balance stayed intact. Knees remaining bent to absorb the shock of stopping as he recalculated a new angle of attack.

Satisfaction laced through the dark male as he felt his bite land, albeit not where he intended. Teeth leaving their mark behind the other boy's shoulders, he got his first real taste of blood and found it oddly satisfying to land a hit. Lips raised in a snarl and chin moved to tuck back over his throat as his head moved level with his spine and eyes stayed narrowed. Hackles stayed bristled along his spine as his ruff remained pulled forward over his vitals.

He saw Azazel coming in parallel to him and stepped to his own right as the other boy had earlier, not entirely escaping the shoulder slam but lessening the blow so that when Azazel's left shoulder struck his ribs on his left side, just behind Amos' elbow as intended, the attack would leave behind some moderate bruising but not completely wind him as Azazel hoped. Amos sought to take a step forward, jaws parting and teeth seeking to land a bite on the thin skin where Azazel's left hind thigh met his flank, hoping to leave moderate lacerations behind on the tender skin there. His movement caused Azazel's bite to land closer to amo's own left flank, leaving light lacerations to the area and causing Amos to growl as he pressed on through the discomfort.

As Azazel went for the paw stop Amos seized the opportunity to attempt to drive his left shoulder into the middle of Azazel's left hip, aiming to throw the other yearling off balance and maybe even knock him over, effectively causing the paw slam to miss it's mark entirely.

geez, he didn't really know what he was doing but it didn't stop him from trying! He felt Amos' teeth cut into the thin skin on his left thigh, tearing a bit of it and leaving moderate lacerations. He growled with the pain that lanced there, and got a tad frustrated that his paw stomp would miss when Amos shoved his left hip with his shoulder. Azazel stumbled to his right, letting Amos' shove push him away by a few inches. Crimson gaze remained narrowed, hackles bristled, his tail tucked, ears pinned to his head and his head lowered with chin tucked over his throat. He was satisfied, however, that he had managed to get a bite on Amos' left flank, though he didn't hold on to it. And he was also satisfied that at least his shoulder strike had landed on Amos as well.

Regrounding the paw that had previously attempted to stomp on Amos' foot, Azazel rose on his hind legs and sought to wrap his forelegs around Amos' body. Left foreleg sought to come over Amos' lower back, right foreleg seeking to wrap around Amos' left hind thigh in an attempt to sort of hug him and keep him in place or bowl him over. His neck arched downward, jaws open as he then sought to land a bite on Amos' lower back, just a few inches from the base of his tail. top fangs sought to land on the right side of Amos' spine and bottom fangs sought to pierce the left side. He wasn't aiming to paralyze or crush bone, but he sought to at least cause some discomfort and pierce the flesh.
