Mama was gone, trying to find something called a shaman. She said the shaman would teach her how to also be a shaman. Why did she have to be a shaman? What even was a shaman? Mama had been vague about it, saying she would explain when she got home. It was okay, that meant there was more time to do whatever she wanted. Da wasn't around as much, he was always out and about doing things. Lately he'd been even more busy, leaving her and her sisters with their older siblings. Sathanus was grumpy lately, and snapped a lot. Which was a little scary, but she also knew that Sath wasn't going to hurt her. Mammon and Levi kept wandering off to do things, and Bee... Beeper. He was never home. Sath had said that he didn't like her or her sisters.

It was really windy here, so much that she couldn't go down into the cool valley. Which sucked. There were some colourful things waving around down there. She wanted to know what the cool things were. The snow had been falling a lot less lately, and up here it was even beginning to thin. What was going to happen when it was gone? Would there be something beneath the snow? Rocks? Ice? The child did not like the thought of such a change. Slouched near the lip of the crater, she folded her ears back against the howl of the wind. A quick break, and she would keep exploring.

Ásvor wasn't quite sure what to do with herself now. As much as she found herself missing Valdis, she knew traveling all the way across the continent wasn't exactly something that was practical to do every few weeks. Surely Naudir would find her soon and they could collaborate on an idea of where to go from here, but for now she would linger in the north as the climate grew a bit more mild, wandering aimlessly and trying to grasp onto whatever bits of knowledge she could.

She veered toward the edge of the massive gorge as the pine trees grew more scarce. The thinning forest gave little protection from the wind, but the shift in the landscape was intriguing to her. Her eyes narrowed as she peered down into the valley, though something in the distance - near the edge of the gorge - caught her eye. A sharp flash of movement, of white fur, caught her attention easily. Even from a distance she could see that the creature was a pup, and slowly she headed in that direction.

What on earth was a child doing in these lands? It wasn't exactly the safest place for a child to be. One misstep would mean certain death, sending a wolf tumbling down the sides of the valley to the bottom. For a moment Asvor almost debated seeing how easily she could sneak up on the child and send them tumbling into the gorge. She wondered what kind of injuries the wolf might sustain, but she decided against it, wondering if maybe more could be gained by taking a different route. Asvor cleared her throat as she approached, lazily closing the distance between them. "Should you be out here on your own?" Asvor raised a brow in question, pausing a safe distance away from the child.

Oh snap! Someone was there, all of the sudden. The wind was too loud, the young babe was not good at hearing everything yet. Whirling around, all four paws unsteady beneath her, she tried to look fierce. Not afraid. Nope. She remembered what Da had said about strangers being dangerous. Can't trust everyone, apparently. How weird was that? Mismatched eyes flew open wide, marvelling at the beautiful lady before her. Not as pretty as mama- no one was prettier than her. But... wowser. "You pretty." Her stunted, heavily accented voice announced without any ounce of shame or fear. It was true! Red was a new colour to her, on a wolf. No one in her family was red.

Wait, the lady had said something. "Should you be out here on your own?" she had asked. The youth looked around, stumbling when the wind tried to sweep her away. "Umm..." Was she supposed to be here? Well, Da hadn't told her not to come here. He generally didn't mind her wandering away from home, to explore. Forfax got to do it, after all. She glanced behind her, at the massive gorge. "Yah." She finally said, bobbing her head vigorously.

"You supposed to be?" Was her next question, wondering if the lady had parents telling her what to do. Delicate crown cocked to one side, curious.

Instead of reacting as if she was surprised, the child stood strong and confident. Her reaction made Ásvor that much more certain in her decision to not see what might happen to the child's body if she sent them over the side of the gorge. Perhaps things would be more entertaining this way? Marvel's comment elicited a soft laugh and a cocky grin to accompany it.  "I wasn't sure if those pale eyes of yours worked," she observed slowly; Ásvor had never seen anyone quite like this child, with such pale fur and a strange pink nose. "You're not so ugly yourself.." The child had obviously been gifted with high quality genes, though Ásvor had never seen such a pale wolf before.

She raised a brow at Marvel's reaction. The whelp insisted she was supposed to be out on her own, retorting with the same question. She earned another soft laugh. "Nobody's had any say in that matter for a long time," she answered, clearly amused. Even when she was a child, the parental influence over her had been minimal at best - the Finnvi children had been bred to be independent and not rely on others, even parents, as soon as they were able. She tilted her head slightly to peer down the side of the gorge, curious about it still. "You wondering what's down there, too?"

Whoever this lady was, she wasn't one to pull punches. "I wasn't sure if those pale eyes of yours worked," she said unabashedly. Oh. Auds drooped, brows pinched. What was wrong with her eyes? Mama said they were pretty.. "You're not so ugly yourself.." the lady added not too soon after, though she didn't seem too sure of it. A hesitant smile found its way onto her face, just for a moment. Now she was worried about being secretly ugly, and no one wanted to say anything.

"Nobody's had any say in that matter for a long time," she replied, in regards to her earlier question. She didn't look that mad about it, though. At least Da didn't have to get mad at her for being rude to strangers. Did this lady not have any parents? That would be sad. If she lost mama or Da she would be sad forever.

The lady peered downwards, over the edge of the gorge. "You wondering what's down there, too?" she asked, and the pale child looked between the woman's icy eyes and the colourful things at the bottom of the gorge. She bobbed her head, humming an affirmation. "Pretty colours." She said, using one paw to point to the strange colourful things at the very bottom. A gust of wind threatened to shove her onto her rump, but she chose to backpedal a few steps instead. It would be embarrassing if she fell over in front of a new friend. "What be?"

This young girl was definitely curious, that was certain. Asvor wasn't sure how the girl would take her strange comments, and it wasn't much of a surprise that she seemed taken aback. The woman would simply shrug, not wanting to probe further - uniqueness wasn't always such a bad thing but she wasn't sure she could convince a child of that. Ah, well, it wasn't really her business to anyway, so she'd happily move on to other conversations.

At least she perked at the mention of what might be at the bottom of the gorge. "Pretty colors indeed," Asvor agreed easily, grinning lightly. Her own gaze fixed on the bottom of the gorge, wondering what sort of plants might be down there. Despite the bitter wind at the top, and the fact that the climate up here wasn't all that nice, somehow things seemed to be growing down there still. "Looks like a bunch of flowers and herbs to me. Think you're brave enough to make it to the bottom with me?" The journey might be dangerous, but it was possible, and she raised a brow as she eyed Marvel curiously.

Thankfully, the woman seemed inclined to agree that the bright spots were pretty. The small smile on her face worked to make her a little less nervous, bolstering her confidence. She looked between the lady and the bottom of the gorge. "Looks like a bunch of flowers and herbs to me." The rouge faced lady began. Da had taught her a little bit about them. There was a purple one that did... something. "Think you're brave enough to make it to the bottom with me?"

A challenge? Well, there was no way she'd let this lady show her up! No way no how! She bobbed her head vehemently, tail beginning to wag. " 'm brave! Go! Go!" The pale girl cried, bounding towards the edge of the gorge. If she didn't tell her mama or Da, then it would be okay. They couldn't yell at her if she didn't tell them. A gust of wind pushed against her progress, but she fought it back. It was time for an adventure! It was gonna be fun!

Was it so strange that the prospect of leading this youngster to the bottom of a gorge to teach her about healing was so thrilling? Probably not - it'd been a long while since she'd found anyone honestly interested in such things, and she'd be a fool to not take advantage of the opportunity. Even if she wasn't learning anything herself, teaching another what she knew was just as useful sometimes. It ensured she really knew what she was talking about and even allowed herself to ask questions herself as she went about anything she might've missed.

The girl's eagerness earned a quick grin. "Alright then! We'll go slowly so we don't fall." Ending the lesson with some kind of permanent injuring wasn't exactly what Asvor had planned, though it certainly would make for an interesting change of events. Asvor was a bit more cautious than the child as she headed to the edge of the gorge, plotting out a way down. Once she was satisfied she'd mapped out a decently safe course in her head, she started down the side of the steep cliff, paws clinging to the ground with each cautious step, and urging Marvel to follow.

The great big smile on the lady's face made her even more excited to start the adventure. "Alright then! We'll go slowly so we don't fall." It didn't take long for the larger, sturdier form of the adult to catch up to her. However, she made a good buffer against the wind that whipped around them. Perhaps it would be better to follow her, instead of blazing her own trail..

It was hard to wait patiently, while the lady stared thoughtfully at the walls of the gorge. Her feet shuffled and fidgeted, waiting for the cue. Thankfully, she was saved from a possible explosion in her brain by movement from her companion. Each step was careful, thought out. Which meant that she was going to have to put a lot of energy into paying attention. Like when her Da had been teaching her how to get to the bottom of the ravine at home. Where the russet marked lady stepped, she was careful to put her paws in the same spot.

" 'm Divo!" She cried over the winds, trying to be nice. Mama had taught her that it was always good to introduce yourself. "Who're you?"

Most of Asvor's attention was focused on making sure she didn't tumble down into the ravine. While the trek was a fairly dangerous one, at least the winds were pushing them back against the side of the wall of the ravine rather than now into it. Asvor heard Marvel moving behind her, and every so often she glanced back at her to make sure she was alright.

Her question elicited a laugh from her. "I'm Asvor Finnvi," she introduced herself to the girl who called herself Divo. She grew quiet for a while as they neared solid ground, and she couldn't help but feel a bit of relief once they reached the bottom of the ravine. The climb up would likely be even harder, but she was sure they could get back to the surface without much trouble. Asvor swung around, eyes dancing over the array of vegetation here, and her head lifted upward as she sniffed at the air.

"What do you think? See anything of interest?" Her smile returned as she eyed the girl, wondering if she was surprised at how much more vegetation was here than it had looked like above.. because truthfully she was a bit amazed, and curious as to if she could find anything useful here she might not find elsewhere.
