Whatever You Are, Be A Good One

Today was another day spent traveling over the world she never had a chance to explore before now. Her mother, though loving, was probably more social with the spirits of the dead than she was with any living soul. She never took Serene out to meet many other wolves, nor did she really ever leave her willow trees or spiritual grounds. So the here was the sandy fae, out wondering through the grounds of a seemingly bountiful land. Life rolled over the hills with a warm glow; flowers of every color, bright and dull, with herbs sprinkled in between. It was a sight she knew her mother would have rolled over in joy just to see.

Slowly did Serene make her way through the valley, taking her time to lean in and investigate each and every flower that gained her attention. But one in particular caught her eye; bright purple flowers clumped together on a high point, sitting in the warm sunlight. She could recognize it as lavender. Her mother adorned this herb, saying that it was one of the most beautiful herb she could find. Softly did the fawn woman circle around the bunch, taking in their lovely scents... it reminded her of those foggy days, with her mother and their storage den. She sighed softly before sitting down beside the herbs, letting their scent, the warmth of the sun, and the sight of a new world surround and overcome her senses.

Torin had found his paws drawing him away from the pack more often than not lately; he'd been denying himself the wanderlust he had been experiencing, determined to keep busy around the pack and keeping an eye on his sister's quickly growing brood. Even then the pack had grown too quiet lately; his mother seemed to have drifted off again and now even Rory was becoming harder to hunt down. Most of his family seemed to have drifted away in fact, Kairi and Jaidah were hardly surprising and even Breasal had been scarce for a long time but Rory was simply an anomaly.

That meant that Jewell and Zell were the only ones left and even his adoptive sister had been quiet and withdrawn as of late, as for his father... well Torin didn't exactly feel like he could approach the man with his anxieties right now. Not that he didn't trust his father to understand but he simply wasn't sure how to face Zell anymore.

Finally the quiet had driven him nearly mad and Torin finally relented; allowing his paws to carry him easily over the borders. Almost automatically he found his paws drawing him towards the last place he'd seen Jen and once he caught himself the male quickly changed his direction. It was times like these that he wished he was better at dealing with strangers, maybe if he'd made any friends he wouldn't have felt quite so alone; he felt almost certain that Jen would have understood, she seemed to truly get his desire for solitude but need for companionship...

With a deep sigh Torin shook the memory of the woman from his memory, it wouldn't do to dwell and he certainly couldn't be sure she would have understood anything; she had been a stranger in the end and he had allowed himself to become attached, which was his own fault.

Slowly the desert fell away beneath his paws, being replaced with lush colorful landscapes. Taking a deep breath, Torin allowed his mind to go blank. The strong earthy scents of herbs and flowers flooded his senses and Torin closed his eyes. The faint and feminine scent of another wolf finally reaching him and slowly Torin opened his dual toned eyes.

Of course he never seemed to run into other men when he was out... well except for Ashiel... He pondered for a moment. He had only just been thinking about how anti-social he felt and yet he was still wary of others; especially women... they hadn't exactly been kind to him.

With a sigh he slowly approached, her form rising up before him.

Whatever You Are, Be A Good One

Thoughts swirled and danced in her mind, clouding her vision and dulling her senses so much so she hardly heard the other wolf's approach. It wasn't until he was closer that the woman flicked an ear in his direction. Her eyes followed suit, and widened softly at the sight of another creature. She was up in an instant, feeling unnerved with the male not announcing his approach. Serene had only met a handful of wolves in the past, so she didn't know what to expect from this male. Without any communication from him, Serene took a moment to examine his form and think about her options.

Though he had scared her, the silver male didn't wear a threatening posture, nor did his dual colored eyes feel like they held evil intent towards her. The fawn woman narrowed her eyes for a moment, trying to figure out what to do. Should she walk away? Should she say hello? Maybe he was here to collect Lavender and she was simply in his way. Maybe he was mute and couldn't voice his greetings or desires? Deciding she needed more information before determining her next move, Serene looked at the purple herb before back at the stranger, a nervous and uncertain look on her face. "Um... hello. D-did you need some Lavender? Am I in your way?"

She bound to her paws and Torin took a cautious step back, his ears flicking slightly. But she didn't really seem aggressive, more startled than anything. He had forgotten that most were not used to his silence, that to other wolves announcing your presence might be considered common courtesy. So he while he stood tall the man allowed his tail to wag slightly, hanging limp from his rump; unsuitable for a wolf  of his position maybe but he gave little care; instead seeking to make it clear he had no ill intent towards the woman.

There was a moment of silence as she observed him and he'd be lying if he said he wasn't doing the same. He did his best not to stare too intently but he felt his stomach flutter slightly as he observed her. Of all the wolves he had met he could easily say she was one of the most beautiful he'd laid eyes on. She did not carry the brilliant coloration of his sister, nor the deep reds of his family and yet she was striking in her own way. He cast his gaze away from her, reminded not for the first time, that he was the ugly duckling of his family.

She spoke, and Torin's gaze flew back to her almost startled by her sudden vocalization. "No, actually I-" He rumbled, clearly caught off guard by her question. "I was actually, uh... I was just out for a walk." It was a truth of sorts, close enough anyway for the stranger.

Whatever You Are, Be A Good One

The way the male spoke, so unsure and almost awkwardly, made Serene settle slightly. He seemed a bit uncomfortable with conversation, or perhaps it was her that he was uncomfortable with? Either way, it was becoming potently clear that this stranger held no ill intent towards the fawn woman. That, she was thankful for. "Oh, well I do suppose today is a perfect day for a walk." It was true; the first signs of autumn were beginning to show, and yet the day was still full of warmth and sunshine as if the grip of summer wasn't ready to give in.

Amber gaze found itself looking about the lush land once more, feeling at peace being surrounded with such natural beauty. Green and sunshine was some of the most breath taking combination she could think of, and that's what she thought of when she looked back at the strangers eyes. Lush greenery and sunshine. A soft smile spread across her maw at the realization, but she decided to keep the thought to herself. It would seem probably strange to comment on a stranger's eyes, right?

So instead, Serene opted to make light conversation. "Since you're out on a walk, I assume you live around these parts?" It seemed everywhere she went she met someone new, she might want to start remembering where others lived. Especially so if she ran into any pack members, as she wanted to make sure to avoid any claimed lands she might accidentally cross over. "My name is Serene, by the way. It's a pleasure to meet you...?""

She seemed to relax slightly as he spoke and it helped to put him a bit at ease, only a little bit. She spoke and he nodded awkwardly, the weather was still nice enough though no where near as warm as the desert he'd left behind of course. He wondered if anywhere ever got as warm as his home did. She cast her gaze away and Torin took it as an excuse to do the same, he observed the lush scenery, it was beautiful and some part of him wondered if maybe he brought Jewell and her fledgling family here if it'd help her to relax.

His thoughts were interrupted by her speaking again and he shook his head. "I live some ways away from here actually, to the West of here in a pack called Lirim." That was all he planned to say though even as the words left his lips still more sprung forth. "Though this place does remind me some of home." For a moment he was drawn into thought, a small smile pulling at his features. Then all of a sudden he snapped back to reality. He felt the blood rush to his face, it was a strange observation to make not to mention out loud to a stranger who had no point of reference to what he was speaking of.  He ducked his head, eager to try and hide his embarrassment.

He took a few slow, deep breaths, she offered her name and he took a few second longer to compose himself before he lifted his head again to meet her gaze. "Torin, Torin Adravendi." He rumbled and then again unbidden, "The pleasure it all mine." He snapped his jaw shut before he made more of a fool of himself.

There he went again, babbling on like some idiot. The truth was she was very very pretty and her gentle conversation had helped to clear his mind some, but he certainly wasn't overwhelmed by the chance of their meeting. He was doing his very best to keep himself composed, darting his gaze off of her again to stare awkwardly over her shoulder.

Whatever You Are, Be A Good One

Hearing that this male was another pack member, but of a different back to the west, made Serene's brows rise slightly. Lirim, she would make a mental note of the name and location, in case she would visit it one day. Amber eyes took in the silver man's expression as a smile seemed to creep onto his face. It seemed he was in a pleasant memory or thought before it was suddenly ripped away, and before she could ask about it, he dipped his head away from her, making it clear he didn't want it questioned. She shook it off however, knowing good and well that everyone deserved their privacy. Instead, she offered a note of her own, seeing as he didn't ask her in return. "I was raised not too far from here too, and yet I've never been here until today." The blonde woman so desperately wished she had though, she could only imagine how much her mother would have loved to see this place.

Torin Adravendi, his name sounded very strong and formal, and the way he said it made it seem important. So she made sure to make a mental note of it. Afterwords, there was a silence in the air, and Serene felt a bit awkward not knowing what else to say. She could feel Torin was not a man of many words, but every wolf that didn't want to talk had a reason. Curiously, Serene would attempt to dig a little more into this new wolf, interested in peeling back his layers, if she could. Letting out a content sigh as she stared out along the field, a small smile graced her lips as a peaceful feeling overcame her. "Are you a fan of nature, Mr. Adravendi? I'm a healer so I suppose I'm a bit partial to the serenity of it all."
