The last ditch effort she had given to look for her children had left her empty handed and she finally decided to make her way to the pack that Ara had chosen for them. She tried to be at peace with the idea that Tiburtius was at least keeping an eye on Jayne and that they might make their way over this direction eventually. At this point traveling like this was putting too much of a strain on her aging bones so it wasn't doing anyone any good for her to keep looking.
She approached the border of the pack and felt a bit of excited nerves bubble up in her stomach. She hadn't been a part of a pack in such a long time and she just hoped that she could make a good impression on the wolves here. It was a bit late int he game to be starting a new life for herself, but she was looking forward to it none of the less. She let out a howl, calling for the leader of the pack and hopefully for Ara as well. She missed her traveling companion and was certainly looking forward to living in one place with her. Athena gave herself a quick shake to make sure her fur was laying nicely and then settled down onto her haunches to wait for someone to answer her call.
He had been taking a break under his tree, just having finished the morning patrols and caught him and his mate a nice fat rabbit. He was waiting for Dust to come back to the den when the call from the borders drew his attention. With a huff the tall male pulled himself to his feet and shook out his pelt. Leaving the rabbit for Star and heading off in the direction of the call. He loved what he did for the pack, but he would be glad when he could fully step down. Only when Torin was ready to handle things on his own.
His pace was quick, looking to ensure the other did not have to wait long at all. He didn't like to keep wolves waiting. It was rude especially if they were looking to join. He was pleasantly surprised when her form came into view. A familiar face from the plateau and familiar to a women he had accepted about a season ago. Ara had said she would be joining them, so he was extremely glad to see that the statement was coming true.
"Athena! Welcome to Lirim," his deep vocals called out as he grew closer.
When close enough he stopped with a smile and a light wag of the tail.
Although Athena had agreed to find somewhere to settle down with her, Ara hadn't been completely convinced she'd see her again. It wasn't that she didn't trust her, no - in fact, she trusted Athena a great deal more than most wolves. Over the years she had grown accustomed to loss, and she had learned to be realistic when it came to others sticking around in her life. Much of the time, they simply didn't, regardless of the circumstances. Abandonment was a natural part of life, and something she had to endure no matter how heavily such things weighed on her mind. When she heard a familiar call, though, she felt her spirits soar infinitely, and a gentle smile painted her aging features as she headed toward the borders of Lirim. Perhaps things weren't going so badly after all....
By the time she made it to Athena, despite her hurried pace, it seemed as though Frostbite had already arrived. Slowing, and silently cursing the slight fatigue that was wracking her body this morning, she continued to closed the distance between herself and the other two. "I'm glad to see you here," Ara greeted her friend warmly, moving to press her nose to her shoulder in tender greeting. The sort of relationship they shared wasn't one she was easily able to categorize; they had both lost the women they'd spent a majority of their lives loving, and in their shared experiences they had found comfort and companionship - and Ara could only hope that Athena meant to stay here permanently with her.
