Crux

Crux looks more imposing than he really is. As an adult, he will stand an impressive 41 inches tall, though probably not all the impressive considering much of his family. While his height is clearly influenced by his father he takes after his mother more in the rest of his build. Crux is a slender wolf, limbs appear long and slender while the rest of him has a sort of roundness that takes the edge off of what would otherwise be a potential threat in his height.

This softer roundness is absolutely in part because of his pelt, Crux is wrapped in a thick coat. He is mostly covered in a dark black color which fades ever so slightly lighter towards the top of his back and the bottom of his belly and legs. But he's more than just that. Crux's dark pelt is broken up by an off-white color that marks his toes, running up the back of his forelegs, as well as marking the top of his muzzle, in a stripe down his chin, and his right eye in a tell-tale claw-like marking that shows his lineage clearly upon his face. A darker grey cream color dots just slightly above the white on his paws, this color dapples along his chest and runs along his underbelly, and the tip of his tail is also dipped in this color. A more grey color of cream marks the tips of his ears and flecks along his back just behind his shoulders. Finally, a familiar green coloration also flecks along his back, blazes up from his nose, and marks his rump in another very familiar marking.

A pair of ivory sabers protrude from his lips, curving gently backward, the tips of them marked in the same green as his nose. Additionally a cuff of turquoise crystals breaks through the skin of his right hind ankle, cuffing the back of his leg up to his hock, the crystals are attached firmly in the joint of his ankle, keeping his right hind paw permanently flexed and giving Crux a limp.

A pair of steel blue eyes sits in Crux's skull... Always watching.

Accessories:

A white feather pendant hung from a simple leather cord, it sits at his chest. He wears it always.

Leather cuffs with tawny striped fluorite gems, tied with thin stripes of his mothers 'Fluffy Cheetah' coat. He wears them on his legs at all times.

appearance

The potential for a self assured if somewhat atypical child left Crux the moment his mother died. Though he still spent much of his childhood learning to watch and read others for his own literal safety and he has put those skills to excellent use in social situations there is no confidence to be found in him. In fact Crux spends the vast majority of his time internally beating himself up over one thing or another. He's pretty damn sure he's the reason his mother died, if he hadn't been born with sharp goddamn crystals growing out of his leg his mother would still be alive, if he'd just taken learning healing more seriously when he was younger she'd still be alive. Crux is haunted by the things he cannot control. He knows it's not healthy. He doesn't care. Crux has yet to process a grief he was too young to grapple with when it happened and he's decided he'd just rather not process it ever.

Crux might have a low estimation of himself on a personal level but he'll be damned if he lets anyone imply they also think that. There's a low simmering bitterness to him, though most days he does his best to hide it he knows what others see when they look at him. He knows that they expect him to either be completely incapable or they expect him to be some sort of "inspiring" story of someone rising above what the world said they couldn't do. He's neither, and he hates that there will always be a narrative about himself that others have that he has no say in. He just wants help when he needs it and not to be babied. But that's too much to ask and he knows it.

Still catch him in a good mood and Crux will be a decent enough time. He's awkward until he gets to know someone and can trust them enough to drop his guard. He shows a genuine care for others and won't tolerate anyone he cares for selling themselves short. Hypocritical he knows. Crux is, when given the space to be, a very social wolf. Quick with a reassuring word and even quicker with a joke. He's also maybe a bit much once he feels he can trust someone. But when you spend so much of your childhood hiding in fear from someone who hates you can you really blame him for having a less than healthy attachment style?

About the only time you might see a confident Crux is when the chips are down and action simply must be taken. He's spent a lot of time learning the healing arts and seems to move and react to medial issues before he's even consciously processed them. In the moment he's calm, collected and focused. The moment the emergency has passed? Back to good old nervous wreck Crux who couldn't tell you how he knows what he knows, or even what he knows. Just that he knows he knows it and it seems to surface when he needs it and never any other time. But maybe, slowly but surely, some flickers of his confidence are starting to push through, maybe he's found himself a tiny place that's all his own and he's finally starting to be comfortable enough that he's getting there.
