Zori was a odd little thing, at least that is what her mother and father told her when she was young. She was much to talkative, much to clumsy for a bird, of all things. But not only that, she was born in the light, unlike most of her kind poked out in the night. Not that Zori wasn't a nocturnal bird, but unlike most Nighthawks she did not mind the morning light, she enjoyed watching the sun rise, putting all the stars to rest. And that was another thing her mother did not understand about the young nighthawk, her endless fascination with the little dots in the sky. Zori watched the Awakening and the bedding down of those little dots every day, and watching them fall into their daily sleep is how she got into this situation.

She had waited to long to take wing to make her way back to her sleeping perch. It was now midday, a time that was not safe for the little nighthawk. Predators lurked in the sky, circling slowly looking for a easy meal, and Zori was adamant not to be that meal. She flew low, ducking under the lovely evergreens as she avoided the gaze of the hawks that still hovered. She watched the raptor, her large black eyes tracing the sharp curve of its talons, she gulped never taking her eyes off of the danger it posed. And that is how she got into bad situation number two. Unlike a sensible bird when flying low to the ground her eyes was turned to the sky, and that landed her... Smack dab in the middle of a very large trunk of a tree.

Wind gushed out of her tinny lungs as she dropped like a rock. Thankfully she was flying close to the ground because if she had she would have died of the fall instead of winded from the hit. Her world swirled as the eagle sensing easy food circled closer to her downed body. But to Zori's amazement soon flew off, and it was not hard to know why, voices where closing in on her, it just did not seem this little birds day.

Astrea had asked that day if her large brother wanted to take a trip north, and it seemed that it was her lucky day, he said he did. So at first light she and her large brother set out. They had covered a lot of distance and saw many things but knowing he needed to be closer to the frozen ice that made up the north they moved on. Now as she moved forward, Glacier at her side she paused. Something was off, like a star was dieing in the sky. But as she looked up she saw nothing put the clouds and the sun. "Something is wrong, Glac."

She looked around seeing nothing put the snow on the ground, her pale eyes not seeing anything out of place. The star dusted girl lifted her front paw to the stone around her neck and glanced up at the sky again. A golden eagle gave a small scream and flew away from the elemental siblings. "I can feel it, a star is close to death." Sadness made her voice raw, what could she do to help the little star, but how? It was so far away in the sky and she was planted firmly on the Earth.

Glacier was pretty much back to full health at this point, he bearly felt his paw, and it was coming nicely back to its old strength he could walk and run on it like it had never happened, so when astrea asked him on an adventure it became a great opportunity for two things, to give his leg a long decent stretch, and to get some time to bond with one of his later litter siblings. It wouldn't be long before the two where side by side making their way into the colder north of alacritis. Their journey was mostly. a silent one, with neither creature being a talkitive one, but it was a companionable silence, they both where comfortable with it and did not have the news to full in the gaps like some if their siblings did.

In fact, when astrea told him something was wrong, that was the diets real breach of the silence, and he couldnt help but grin at his little sister, pleased she had lapsed out of her silence to spea to him. Through his smile didn't last long as what she said settled in, and he tilted his head and moved his gaze from her to the sky. He couldn't see anything wrong, nor sense it but then again he didn't have her connection to the stars. He was silent as he listened to the forest, followed the sound of its creatures and attempted to get a reading on what was happening in the world. "there's a lone coyote in the distance, a nest of rabbits hidden to our right, and an eagle scared of whatever it was hunting by our voices. Little star, I don't sense anything wrong so your going to have to lead us on this one" he nodded his head to show he would follow wherever she might lead

Astrea looked at her brother, her pale eyes watching as he sniffed the surroundings. The feeling of wrongness did not go away or lessen as time passed, in fact it increased. She hummed again as her brother told her he could not smell anything wrong, how would he? Stars did not have a smell... But something about that thought felt wrong. Astrea tilted her head at her own thought and then moved forward a step or two. She stopped again at that point. It was almost like a string was tied to her neck and guided her where she needed to go. She hesitated a for only a moment more and then moved forward more quickly. Only to stop in front of a tree.

Astrea glanced down her pale eyes tracing a small form. It was a small thing, with spots all over and very large eyes that gazed up at her with a stunned exasperation. She sniffed at it, finding that ultimately the bird was unhurt, but when the cry of the eagle priced the air she knew that the little bird was only fine because of her and Glacier was here.

The feeling of death that Astrea had felt all those steps back was now gone, only replaced by worry for the small creature. "I think its okay... mostly," She said looking back at her brother. She then looked down at the bird and sniffed it again, tilting her head and humming slightly at it.

A coldness seemed to pull Zori from her small daze, she blinked and then came face to face with the nose of another predator that her mother told her to stay away from. The little bird screeched as she hopped to her small feet, to only hit her back back on the tree she flew into however long ago. She looked up at the wolf, to only be distracted by the tail that was swishing behind the girl. The bird tweeted and flapped into the air and flew behind the wolf, landing lightly on her back.

"Stars!" The bird hopped about, her small claws careful not to prick the wolf. "You have Stars on your tail!" She felt the wolf chuckle at her excited whistle.

"Yes, I have heard that. Are you all right little bird?"

Zori gave a happy little whistle, her only answer to the wolves question. The little bird studied the wolves stars and the more she looked at it the more she was reminded of the night sky. Maybe just maybe she would have to stick with this wolf, she seemed nice after all, even if her companion was over large. Zori looked from the smaller wolf to the big one a bit more weary of him then the star child she stood on.
