setting this right on the border between the two packs :)

She had finally recovered. The illness has claimed her for the longest time. But now she was healthy, her lush coat had regained its shine, her body had filled out to its proper weight and she was growing ruthlessly. Soon she would be a yearling, which put her several inches shy of her adult height. The girl had slipped away from her parents, leaving behind the den and raced across her new home. She loved it. The plains where so open and so vast, she didn't understand why her mother didn't like it. Long limbs stretched far and wide, carrying the heiress effortlessly across her home. Her tri coloed plume streamlined behind her, her thick pelt swaying with the wind. Jaws parted in a panting as she inhaled oxygen to her thirsty lungs. She would slow to a walk only when the scent of the border reached her nose. Verdant pools would scan lazily the horizon, peering into the neighbors lands. She didnt know they had neighbors. She would approach, stopping several inches shy of the border.

Thoughts pools in her mind. Where they strong like her mother? Where their friendly, maybe allies? Or where they to be discarded and stepped upon like the rest of the world? A dark smile twisted her lips. Power coursed through her veins that made her an unstoppable force. Toes kneaded the ground as she pondered the wellbeing of her newfound neighbors. Perhaps her mother knew more about this pack then she did. Her tail would sway back and forth with anticipation. She craved an adventure. She had been confined by illness for far to long. The princess was high on freedom and craved the high of an adventure. But much to her dismay she was the youngest in the pack, and the only one. Her features would pull down in a frown as she turned away from the border. She would be forced to seek excitement elsewhere.

Honey-tipped paws graced the terra at a flat out run. Ears were held back, pinned firmly against his head, his eyes were narrowed and his shoulders hunched, each feature contributing to the overall appearance of determination. The sound of hooves tearing up the ground filled the air until nothing was to be heard but the steady pounding.

What started out as a simple game had turned into an angry stampede. Nemesis, bored out of his mind, had decided to tease a mother bison and her calf. He'd chased and nipped, driving the calf around in circles and then fleeing from the mother each time she drove him off. He hadn't taken more than a few passes before several adults got involved. At first he'd assumed they'd simply chase him off and then guard the calf, but the running seemed to trigger something in the beasts and all at once the whole herd was racing towards him. As far as he could tell, they weren't actually chasing after him, he was merely in their way. Not that their goal mattered much; he'd still get stomped into a mud hole if they caught up with him.

Oblivious to the quickly nearing border, Nemesis topped a rise and almost barreled into a girl who was just on the other side. The boy skidded to a halt, his tail slapping the ground as his rump lowered to counter the sudden shift of his weight forward. For a moment he was stunned, staring wide eyed into the too close face of a stranger. In a heartbeat his expression changed, features brightening into crazed grin. "Run!" he shouted brightly, his tone far too cheerful for the situation at hand. Without another word he was off again, racing away from the herd that threatened to mindlessly crush him into the dirt.

The faint sound of hooves would bring her to a halt and turn to once again face the border. Eyes would widen in surprise as a boy came thundering towards her, stopping just in time to keep them from barreling into the ground. His sudden proximity was surprising, she would feel the warmth of his body and the heat of his breath on her face. A brow lift in question as his tail thumped against the ground. Before she could form a question, he would shout a command, taking off as fast as he could. There was no time to demand why, a dust cloud began to form as a herd thundered towards him. Eyes would widen as she shot off after the boy without question. Her long limbs would carrying her in a scramble to avoid danger, easily catching up to the boy who had a few strides on her. A crazed giggle would form in her throat as they raced deeper into her home without notice. Her muscles would begin to burn, the herd hot on their heels. She would veer to her left in a last attempt to get out of the way.

She would run and run, casting a glance over her shoulder to see if the stranger had followed. She wouldn't stop until she was out of harms way, the herd of bison racing by, their hefty weight rattling the ground. A smirk pulled at her features, a giggle rolling off her tongue as she slid to the ground. It had been far to much exercise in such a short amount of time after her recovery. Her sides would heave as her breath raced in an attempt to feed her body oxygen. Her heart thundered against her chest cavity, threatening to break loose. The summer sun pounded relentlessly on her back, refusing to allow the heiress to cool off. She needed water. Her verdant gaze would search for the stranger, curious to know more about him now, plus he would need to be escorted out, or her mother would have a coronary.

Off they went, the pair flying over the plains with the bison so close behind them that Nemesis could hear their labored breathing. It didn't occur to him that he was trespassing; he wasn't even aware that he'd crossed the border. The change from valley to plains was a subtle one, but under normal circumstances the scentmarkers were undeniable; it was nearly impossible to cross into Olympus lands without knowing it. 'Almost' being the key word. If you have a herd of bison hot on your heels you tend to gloss over the little things.

The strange girl took the lead and Nemesis fell in line behind her, moving as she moved. When she veered to the side he followed and soon they were safely out of the way. Fatigue overcame him and the boy collapsed into a dusty heap upon the Arcanum soil. Autumn hued crown would roll to the side to allow royal blue eyes to watch the last few stragglers gallop by. Silence fell like the dust around them and in the wake of the herd's cacophony a ringing settled in Nemesis' ears.

For several long moments he lay still and quiet save for his harsh breathing, and then suddenly a laugh would fly free of him. "Wooo!" he whooped, flipping onto his back and letting his legs flail heavenward. "Gods above, that was fun!" He rolled completely over so that he was facing the girl who'd ran with him. The boy regarded her with stinging, watery eyes, but his countenance was cheery as he said, "I thought they were going to kill me!" The chase was, perhaps, the most exciting thing that had happened to him since ..well...ever.

As the stragglers galloped by, silence would once again all over the land, only hoof prints leaving behind any indication of the stampede. Verdant gems would watch as the russet hued boy fell in an exhausted heap nearby, clearly pleased with the event. She would regard him with cool indifference as he rolled onto his back, appraising someone up above for the fun. Weirdo. He would rolled once again over so that he could look at her, his exclamation of the obvious ringing in her ears. "I don't think you have to worry about them killing you." Sultry tones fell from silky lips as her tail twitched back and forth like a cat, subtly gesturing to their surroundings. A coy smile would curl her lips as her eyes narrowed fractionally with wicked mischief.

She would remain where she was, though she would fold her long decorated limbs beneath her as she watched him like a hawk. It shouldn't take long for him to release that he sat well within another packs home. Lucky for him he was sitting with the Queens daughter. The adrenaline that had rushed her system was beginning to fade, her labored breathing was steadily slowing to something more normal. The burn of her muscles was sweet but fading, much to her relief. "Whats your name?"Her crown would tip to the left, her expression softening into curiosity. He was from the neighboring pack she had just been thinking about.

The girl would, after gracing him with what sounded like a threat, regard him with a haughty expression and Nemesis would resist the urge to stick his tongue out at her. What? Was she going to kill him? He just saved her life! If he hadn't told her to run she'd have just stood there with her mouth hanging open and a dumb expression on her face until it was too late. Boom! Those bison would have crawled up one side of her and down the other and flattened her with a sticky, ooey, crunching sound.

He knew where he was and it didn't worry him one bit, but he was at a loss for a clever reply so instead he just harrumphed at the pretentious girl, one brow spot lifting in pointed disbelief. What was this place, anyway? It was a new pack, he knew that much, but nothing else about the place came to mind. One day one pack was there and then the next it was gone, soon replaced by yet another pack. Really, it made his head spin. Her next question was much easier on him. "I'm Nemesis, and you are?" His eyes left the girl's face to rove over their surroundings curiously. "And what's this pack called? It was 'phlegm' something the other day."
