There was no denying that occasionally that pull to the East was far too strong for Chord to ignore. He may have been a wanderer these days, constant searches for explorations and stories of his own but his family were still incredibly important to him and regular checks upon them all were somewhat necessary. Roles may have been reversed somewhat, the youngest of the litter actually being the leader in the end but that didn't mean Chord would or could ever completely abandon his duties to his family. He was loyal in his own way.
So here the young Destruction was once more, finding himself in the Eastern lands of Alacritia. He'd selected a slightly different route this time, an apparently a rather trickier one but as always in this area his destination was to reach Abaven lands, locate his siblings. He'd heard little about the pack as of late, surely no news was good news but it was still important to see them anyway, learn what they'd been up to for himself and not rely upon the twisted tales spread around the lands.
Of course, the journey was slow, normally he'd take his time for a chance to explore as he travelled though here upon the tricky rocks of Fenrir's Maw he had no choice but to be careful in his step. Chord may have had a thirst for adventure but he didn't have a death wish just yet.
Delicate paws would carry her carefully over the rocky precipice, the trails here were hardly safe. Still, it was interesting. No matter how much her instincts told her to go back she would press on. She enjoyed the danger that surrounded her, but she had faith in her abilities. She would easily place her perfect footsteps and explore the lands outside Abaven.
Her step might have been flawless, but her pace was slow to ensure her safety. The scenery would have her attention until a faint scent would reach her nose, the only sibling she hadn?t seen yet. A strange sensation of excitement would tingle in her stomach, Chord was here! She?d find her head tilting back, a howl leaving her lips. She didn?t know how far away he was, but she knew she had to see him.
Though Chord had family in mind, he of course only anticipated running into three of his siblings and certainly not here on the dangerous rocky path he now carefully made his way along. He would pause as the familiar voice hit his ears, frozen to the spot hardly able to believe the truth. Had he fallen and hit his head or something? Was he simply imagining all of this?
He certainly hoped that this wasn't the case and paws would press onwards now as he gave a howl of his own in response as he attempted to quicken his pace. One small stumble, rocks sliding beneath his paw would suddenly slow him down once more, he wanted to see his sister of course but not break his neck as he tried to reach her. They each had a vague idea where the other was now, and would just have to follow the path until they could reach each other.
Fortunately that moment wouldn't take too much longer at all. He would find himself moving around a bend and see the form of his sister before him. A wide grin would reach his lips and tail would wag happily. Whether she cared for the affection or not, the russet and white male would still give her a small nuzzle in greeting. "Decided to follow everyone else in the end then?" He would question as he withdrew, green eyes resting upon her once again.
Paws would continue to pull her further, albeit still slowly. The bit of excitement would not cause her pace to quicken, she knew her limits and she would not break them. Still, it was hard for ehr to keep her steady pace when she heard her brother return the greeting howl. She?d feel the corners of her lips turn up, she couldn?t ever deny how much she?d missed them. She continue, patience winning out in the end as finally Chord would come around the next bend. She?d feel her tail wag as her smile brightened, her litter mate?s affection would be given and Rhythm would happily take it. She?d even manage to return a quick gesture, her nose pushing into his lighter fur as she listened to his words. Her dual toned gaze would find his forest orbs, and she?d smile playfully. "Of course, I couldn?t stay there forever. I?m not meant to be a leader, plus I missed you pups too much." She?d show her incisors from her grin as she looked him over, "On your way to Abaven?" Surely he too knew of their brother?s success.
The time apart however was apparently enough for Rhythm not only to accept and welcome the gesture, but return the nuzzle with a small touch of her own. Clearly there was no denying the care that the siblings held for each other, even the chocolate coloured girl before him now was not able to hide those feelings. The reasons behind her leaving could be cast aside for now, however much Chord loved a good story for now he was simply overjoyed to see his sister once more, a wonderful shock that he certainly hadn't anticipated. In fact, for now even Abaven would be pushed aside for a moment, he'd catch up with them in time but it had been nearly a year since he had seen Rhythm.
The leadership desire and skill was apparently not a trait that appeared in the Destruction wolves as strictly as the loyalty to their family did. Whilst his grandparents had obviously been great leaders and his parents too he assumed were doing a decent job he certainly didn't want to even stay in a pack let alone lead one and now here was Rhythm lacking that same urge to one day become a leader.
"Well of course, how could you not miss us?" Chord would respond rhetorically with a grin. Her comment on Abaven would reveal that she had likely already visited Motif, Harmony and of course the one wolf of the five siblings that had inherited that leadership trait, Bass. "Was planning on heading that way." He admitted. "Have you already seen King Bass and his people then?" He certainly didn't mean the comment as an insult of any sort, he did respect his brother for having the patience to deal with such a role, the dedication to keep up with it. Not that he'd say such things aloud and risk his brother getting a little big-headed, if that was possible anyway.
The year spent without her siblings had not been a short one, she?d trained hard within their home pack. She wanted to know what Chord had been up to, she wished to catch up with him as she had her siblings that took up residence within the pack. Why had he chosen to keep himself a rogue? There were many questions she would ask of him, hopefully on their way back to Abaven. He?d answer her light heartedly, bringing an amused smile to her face. He?d go on, reassuring her assumption that he was headed back to meet with his siblings. Noting that he was fully aware of Bass?s new status of alpha. She?d find herself giggling at his words, would he be disappointed that she had every intention of becoming one of those people? She?d let the thought leave her at the prospect of walking back with him. "I have. Would you want to walk back with me?"
How could she not guess that if any of Lyric and Darilnor's children were going to wander as a rogue it would be Chord. The fidgety youngster had developed a thirst for adventure that couldn't be quenched living within a pack he had been the first to leave Ahlon and would likely be the last of them to join any pack again it seemed, if he ever would anyway.
He wouldn't judge his siblings at all for wishing to be part of a pack, nor would he think it any sort of favouritism between the eldest and youngest of the litter. It would have been nice to have company of course, but it was only in harmless teasing of a brother that he would refer to the members of Abaven as 'King Bass' people'.
"Alright." He agreed, certainly pleased for the company of his sister. "We go my way though." He offered. Perhaps the pair would find something exciting on their way, he still didn't intend upon taking the quickest route there after all.
The girl would be rather easy to root it seemed, she had taken the longest of their siblings to find her way out of Ahlon after all. She hated to admit but found it easy to get stuck in her ways, and to crave that sense of a routine. Chord would not harbor any ill will towards her, and she?d cling to the fact that the two of them would adventure together often. Maybe one day she would wander the wilds with him. Her brother would not take too much time to consider her proposal, agreeing with a single word and requirement. "Lead the way, brother." She?d smile, easily giving in to his simple request. She only knew the way back that she came, and there was a feeling that Chord would help her see much more of Abaven?s surrounding landscapes. Rhythm would enjoy the extra time spent with her litter mate, she?d gotten time with her other siblings it was his turn now.
