oh, my love, don't forsake me

It had been quite some time since Ambrosia had set foot on the mainlands. The journey from the islands to the shore of the mainland wasn’t a long one, and it was one she had accustomed herself to, despite how few times she had made the trek. The slender, blue-furred creature shook out her sleek coat as she drew herself up the beach, her paws making clear imprints in the sand as she moved. It felt strange to be away from the islands she’d been born on, the ones her family had always known as home, but she knew unfamiliar lands often held treasures valuable enough to be worth the expended energy.
That was just but one thing the sea was valued for -- the treasures that it brought. Often when low tide hit, she and her family would spend hours scouring the shoreline for anything left behind by the waves. Finding much of anything was a rarity, but it was worth the time spent doing it, for when they did find treasures they were valuable indeed. Today, though, she wasn’t in search of what the sea brought, but rather things hidden deeper inland. She cast a longing look toward the horizon, where the sea met the sky and meshed in a blurry wave of blue-grey, before turning her attention back inland and beginning her journey into the unknown.
The long stretch of beach that lay before here, which seemed to stretch for miles on each side, was unlike any she'd ever seen before. The sand was dark as coal, gleaming and shimmering a sharp ebony, almost blinding against the gleam of the midday sun. Ambrosia briefly narrowed her eyes as she wandered further up the shoreline, wondering how far she'd need to travel to find anything worth returning home with.

The obsidian beach was something Vali had traveled to in her younger days, but not for a long time. Even so, the beauty of the black, glinting stones was absolutely fascinating and enrapturing; it brought a smile to the alpha's face. What she was not expecting to see, however, was a creature on the black sand. A... wolf... that was... blue? The teals of the wolf were honestly quite beautiful; it was the same shades one might find in the ocean, down to the paler colors of the froth of waves. She wavered on the decision whether to approach or not - should she? Should she not? It seemed like her choice would be taken away, as any moment the blue wolf might spot her. So instead, she called out. "Greetings, stranger. It's beautiful, isn't it?"
