It started with her getting sick…
A sickness that fought her both physically and mentally, Proxy and Mad making themselves known in short little spurts. But that illness got worse and worse… to the point where Kaitlyn couldn’t leave the den anymore. Aikia, bless her heart, stuck close by her mother straight away as Kait started growing more ill. The child didn’t know what was going on with her mommy… and neither did the rest of them. Some sort of immune system attack that probably had the woman worse off than she cared to admit.
Aikia never left her during those times. Kaitlyn didn’t want any of the kids to see her like this, though she certainly didn’t refuse visits from her sons. Or Clay… bless his heart. He’d seen her go through so much. But every time he’d get worried, and ask if she was okay Kaitlyn would just smile gently and promise all would be fine.
...and eventually Kaitlyn began getting better.
Her will to survive and Clay’s care was paying off, and finally, at last, Kait found the strength to leave the caverns they called home.
The female breathed in, the light of the day falling upon her face. Her green eyes were still full of that willful strength, an ear twitching as she heard those soft but familiar footfalls. Kaitlyn hummed softly, shifting her head in the direction of her beloved. Clay probably wasn’t expecting her to be out and about…. But here she was.
“Good morning. Have the boys been much of a pawful today?”
