The brute, with a round, overly full belly, was sprawled out under the reaching branches of one of the plain's lonely trees. He lay partially in the shade. When he'd laid down the shadow over him had been complete, but with the ticking away of hours the sun had slowly pulled it away from him, exposing his honey brown hide to the light. The warmth too. He was getting a bit warm; the combination of heat plus a full belly working at his resolve to stay awake.

Thor's eyes slid shut slowly. It took him a moment to realize that they weren't open anymore. He thought about letting them stay shut. What would it hurt anyway? The border had been run, the girls were behaving, Loki's kids were...Loki's problem. Everything was tidy and taken care of. It wouldn't hurt to nap...

A rumble so low the brute didn't notice it right away crept across the earth. Steadily it grew louder, more pronounced, and Thor's eyes slid open. He sat up languidly, mouth thrown wide in a yawn. Blinking, he glanced over his shoulder...and then his eyes went wide. Bearing down on him was a sea of bison. They spread out in each direction as far as the eye could see. The first of the herd had just begun to spill over a nearby hill.

Throwing himself to his paws, Thor flung himself in the opposite direction. Shit, shit, shit. The food in his stomach sat around his middle like a boulder and a couple strides into his run the brute began to regret eating so much. He quickly hit an all out run, but the bison behind him slowly ate away at the distance between them. The sound of their hooves was deafening now, shaking the ground behind him.

Spying a tree, the god of Thunder decided on a last ditch effort to save his skin. He veered towards it, the sharp turn eating away at his advantage over the bison. The seconds ticked by and the bison grew closer. Shit, shit, shit. The debris flung up by their hooves began to pelt him and his mind emptied, his gaze narrowing until their was nothing in front of him but the tree. He was filled with a single-minded purpose.

Thor hit the tree like a monkey after a banana. His girth aside, he managed to haul his heavy self several feet into the air before his momentum gave out. He settled into the branches with his front legs wrapped around the trunk and his back legs dangling beneath him. His head dropped to the bark just as the first bison began to pass beneath him. A cloud of dust enveloped him, turning the rich colors of his coat a dull, lifeless brown.

He sighed, his breath swirling away from him in a dusty huff, "Well, shit."

There was a big wave of brown, and she was chasing it like the mighty hunter she was. In reality, the girl wasn't actually sure what the heck she was cantering after, but she was gonna do it anyway. Her most fearsome howls filled the air, and she was gradually falling behind the herd. Her shorter legs couldn't keep up, but she was determined to go after them. If she thought about it, she'd done nothing to provoke the herd of giants, but when they'd started running as she crested the ridge, she hadn't argued with her mind when it suggested they were scared of her. She was a big scary wolf, and they should be afraid. So, here she was. Oversized paws thumping the ground wildly as she careened after the charging monsters as best she could. A massive grin was spread across her face, and she couldn't help but whoop with laughter as she chased her terrified prey. Tri coloured tail trailed out behind her like a banner, and she kept running as fast as she could. The charging herd had crested another hill, and disappeared from sight as she came charging up the slope. By the time she got to the bottom, the beasts were gone.

The girl flopped down onto her side and let out a deep breath, laughing and growling her squeaky puppy growls. Her toxic gaze drifted up into the tree a little ways beside her, hoping to see another huge bird with the long legs. Instead, a much stranger sight. Her head lifted off the scourged earth, but nothing more. Limbs were sprawled out to the side, sides heaving. "Hey uncle Thor!" She yipped, tongue lolling happily from the side of her mouth. "Whacha doin' up in that tree?" She asked quickly thereafter, tilting her dainty crown to the side to fix her uncle with a quizzical stare.

Chest heaving, the brute found himself struggling for air as the bison surged beneath him. The air was thick with their kicked up dirt; the particles swirling around, making breathing and seeing difficult. The dust coated his tongue and worked its way into his eyes and nose. He sneezed, eyes tearing up, and then sneezed again and again. By the time the bison were gone the brute was dripping snot and tears.

There was a deep, ringing silence after the herd had gone. For several heartbeats the only thing that could be heard was the brute's wheezing. Thor took a deep breath, dragging in air until his lungs were full, and then he held it. Soft pawsteps behind him made the brute slowly release it. Quickly he wiped his face on his foreleg before turning to face whoever was approaching him. It was Acadia, and boy did she look exhausted. He briefly wondered if she'd been chased too and then it occurred to him that she'd run up after the herd had passed. His eyes narrowed. Loki. Everything was his fault.

The pup was excited and far too happy for him to be angry with her, so the brute just sighed and mentally choked the life out of her father. That always seemed to help. "Hey Acadia," he rumbled. His eyes rolled skyward as she asked him why he was in a tree. "I got chased. You wouldn't know anything about that, would you?" The brute's mildly accusing gaze flicked back down to his niece.

Laughing so damn hard, and no one knew why

Her uncle looked far from happy that she'd appeared, though that happened often enough that the girl didn't really care. His somewhat irritated sigh did catch her attention though, and she stifled a childish giggle. Trouble was something she was good at, so she knew when she'd been successful at causing mayhem. Something that definitely caught her eye was the moisture that had accumulated all over her uncle's chocolate toned features, which was a lot funnier than it should have been. This time, there would be no hiding her mirth. She fair wriggled with her laughter, her already aching lungs producing wheezing at first, and then nothing but silence. Now she was laughing so hard she couldn't catch her breath, forepaws clutched to her chest as tears began to trickle out of her eyes. The image was just too much, her uncle's face looked like it'd been hit with a water balloon! Tri coloured tail whipped back and forth across the ove3rturned terra, displacing even more dirt. "Uncle.. Thor... your face.... is all.... wet!" She managed to choke out, slowly lifting herself into a seated position. Delicate tiara hung between her petite shoulders as she continued to laugh, slowly working herself down to something more manageable.

Once she was breathing normally, the patchwork pup looked up at her uncle with a tear streaked face, still grinning widely. Just now was his query working itself into the gears of her mind. She put on her best innocent face, ears falling ever so slightly as she gazed up at him with glittering toxic eyes. "The furry mountains were running, so I chased them." She assured her uncle, smiling as sweetly as she could. No need to push her luck, after laughing hysterically at her uncle. He could still yell at her, or worse, tell her dad. "They would have felt silly running from nothing, so I thought they might feel better about themselves after if they thought they were actually running from something scary." She added, tongue lolling out to one side happily. Her triple pigmented plume thumped happily against the ground some more. Then the question that was really important in the situation came into her mind, and her petite cranium would fall to one side inquisitively. "Do you need help getting out of that tree, uncle Thor?" She then asked, raising one darkened brow quizzically. It was an entirely valid question, most of the males in her family had a knack for getting stuck, and even some of the ladies.
