death is always the winner

Rain fell upon a scab plagued back unrelenting. Tiny bee sting pelts covered thin skin covering high shoulder bones. Wet white and pink fur clung to the red skin below, the mats and scar tissue exposed to the world. Blood seeped from undying wounds from the sun, tangling into dirty white fur like a crimson glue. Shoulder blades and hip bones protrude up and out with little fat or muscle to be seen. Blood shot eyes, bright as the blood rolling down an arched back, were wide with strain and pain. Each step was met with shrilling pain shooting through sore paws and thing legs to a bruised chest. The pain caused breaths to be ragged an uneven. The never ending moisture in the air seemed to make it's way into the creature's lungs causing each exhale to crack and pop. The former Wolf now forsaken fool wandered endlessly without an ounce of hope in view. Hannibal made his den within the heart of the maze. A overhang of bramble and leaves hung overhead, only enough to avoid most of the downpour. But, the rain never failed to find it's way through. As he arrived the stench of rotting flesh filled a sore pink spotted nose. The smell seemed to not bother the beast as he curled up in a tight corner upon the damp earth. Tucking trembling legs close to his form and a tangled tail over stinging paws. Wide eyes took in the enclosed halls of thicket lifelessly. A hunger pain swept through his abdomen into the hollow of his scratchy throat. Eyes flicked down to an old bird carcass and yellow teeth took hold of a tendril of flesh beneath bloody feathers. A little growl could be heard in response to such a dissatisfying 'meal.'
As the male plucked meat from tiny bones his thoughts roamed as they usually did. The haunting thoughts of his offspring and loved ones. The caring words of Belle and the cries of his children. Were they even alive? Rain pelted the top of his slender cranium and muzzle. One blue and one red eye stung as if prepared to leak tears but it seemed his ducts were dry. Could he even spare tears anymore? Shame flowed through the beasts bones. A pain so otherworldly, it seethed within his veins. A tiny rumble of a painful cough shot from his throat as he nearly upchucked his food. It was almost as if he was allowing himself to die due to the failures months prior. A slow painful death would be the cure to his faults. To lose everyone he cared about as if he were a lesser man then his challenger was enough of a blow to his pride as any. Worthless was the word painted across his sickly, bleeding, and starving bodice. With a twinge of guilt Hannibal lowered his head down onto the tops of his bony paws and shut his eyes to drift off into an onslaught of nightmares. "" |

She wandered Auster for what seemed like months, and today she weaved her way through the bamboo maze that was no more than a twisted wall on the outside. She had learned that there was no way to cut straight through with the bamboo too thick to chew through without breaking teeth and she didn't have the tool to hack her way through, either.
The gods, however, had a plan in store for her today. The smell of sickness and rotting meat weaves its way towards her and although she was disgusted by the smell, she was curious as to what it might be. If it were a dead wolf, she'd do the courteous thing and bury it. If it were the smell of infection that was killing its victim, perhaps she'd do the merciful thing. What she saw she was unprepared for. Lying in filth and appearing like a skeleton was her beloved brother. She stopped in her tracks, bi-colored gaze staring at him as if to ensure it was really him and not some trick of her mind.
"Hannibal?" Her piebald brothers eyes were closed, his back a bloody and scabby mess and he looked absolutely nothing like the way her memory had preserved him.
Blood and cries filled his mind as tender lids clenched. Mis match eyes remained shut and dreadful thoughts consumed the albino's forsaken mind. Hannibal hardly noticed the sounds of pad falls until the voice filled his flattened ears. Suddenly lips curled upward to expose yellowing teeth and inflamed gums. Eyes flashed open to stare up at the 'stranger.' Before he was able to lift his skinny body from the ground in order to assume a fight stance it seemed the appearance of the stranger registered in his riddled mind. The jigsaw face of a Klein stared down at him. One black and one pink eye poured into his own strange orbs. Without blinking his cracked voice lifted into the air, full of wonder and disbelief. "A trick.." Hannibal's head cocked to the side as if to further study her features. Had Pandora truly found him here in this place? The thoughts of his family members swarmed his deranged cranium. Pandora was a littermate of Hannibal. One of the promised heir's of the Klein Empire. They were close when growing up, just as the rest of his family. The thought of his littermate truly standing before him.. Staring down at him in such a ghoulish state.. Hannibal's heart could have been ripped to shreds in those moments. But his derailed mind wandered back to the fact that she could be a figment of his imagination. Or this could all be a nightmare. "You are not real.." Blinking, Hannibal stared up at her with a thickening snarl.

"What have they done to you?" She reached forward to gently nuzzle the side of his neck, a meager attempt at trying to offer some sort of comfort to him. He needed some serious care. Where were their other siblings? Why did they let him fall like this? She couldn't wrap her head around why he was allowed to fall so far, and it was up to her to build him back to his former glory.
