Chills down the spine

Célestin wasn't sure if he hated the shrine or just... was misplacing his emotions. The pond's surface felt wrong, rimmed by its fence of stones and the bones that extended their grasping fingers towards the sky in place of trees... there could be no arguing the landscape itself was sinister... but maybe he more resented what the shrine stood for. It stood for his own struggles with trusting his friend. It stood for his shifting emotions.

The rainbow man knew the shrine meant something to Pegasus' overall plan... and Célestin still stood by the trust he'd so vocally shared with his friend... but he wasn't sure about his own emotions and how they were affecting his own judgment. He'd heard rumors that if one stared into the surface of the lake they might spot their own past come back but as the boy searched its mirror surface he found only his own reflection, just as unhelpful as his swirling thoughts. Célestin knew he would stay, he'd stick by Pegasus' side until he wasn't wanted anymore or he died... but it was that being unwanted that clouded his mind. The young Adravendi knew only self-sacrifice, he'd allow himself to hurt if it meant comfort for his closest friend. Sighing the young man lowered his head onto his paws, watching his reflection out of the corner of his eye. He just wasn't sure what his next step had to be.
