[ooc; set after lirim's move to emerald island]

it was the evening hour, before her designated bedtime but Siobhan was wide awake. she roamed the island within the confines of where Lirim had set up a base camp, trying to check on everyone at once. she wanted to know if her packmates were settled by now. it'd been a few days since the move, and even if she still was a bit scared by the volcano eruption, the girl needed to know everyone had made it safely here. she didn't seem to count anyone she knew missing so that was good.

little time had been put aside for playing. ever since Papa asked her to scout ahead with Eir, Siobhan was trying her very best to be more grown-up. she seemed to realize everyone was scared and didn't need her getting under their paws. she tried to stand back and watch, learning as she did. even if she wasn't the heir of Lirim, the girl wanted to be useful. walking around the makeshift camp, she tried to think of what to do. maybe the healers needed help sorting their herbs. maybe the hunters brought back something fun to see. maybe Aunt Kairi needed help with something.

the possibilities were endless.

Siobhan opted to check on the younger wolves. they were her peers after all. bouncing toward where she knew Sandor had been earlier, she looked around for her friend.

The youth wanted to be useful and helpful, thus, he had pushed his body as far as he physically could during the move. He'd helped where he could with the younger wolves that needed help making the swim and had helped Holland with the herbs, despite the protest from healing wounds. The move had completely drained him of energy. He hadn't even made himself a proper den yet, instead he used a small root system that been eroded by the weather. It went under the tree partially, giving him some shelter from above but he was for the most part exposed to the elements. He'd made it home, though, using whatever surrounding foliage he could to help keep the wind out. Temporary, but suitable...for now.

Sandor was laying back, letting his muscles rest when Siobhan came to find him. Ears twitched to pick up the sound of approaching paw steps as nose found her scent. His head lifted, the muscles in his neck complaining at the sudden action. "Hey Sio!" he greeted cheerful, remaining laying down for the time being.

spotted Sandor laying a few paces away, she'd approach. there was still a bounce in her step, but it was more controlled. more collected. she wanted to be a good representative for Lirim and part of her knew that she'd have to grow up to do that. she couldn't just go around tackling everyone and anyone that looked interesting. "hi, Sandor!" she beamed at him when she neared him. planting her paws near the top of his head, she sat looking down at him.

Siobhan had noticed the healing marks on his head from the meeting but hadn't the chance to ask about them. actually, they hadn't a lot of time together since Papa allowed him into Lirim. she was sad for that and hoped he hadn't been lonely. she wanted the first wolf she recruited to be happy. forcing a cheerful smile on her face, she looked up and around at the island. "it's nice here! better than... where we were" the smile slipped from her features.

she really hoped everyone was okay on the mainland.

Siobhan’s usual enthusiasm was gone, or at least it was not the same as when they’d met at the festival…or when he’d showed up at her borders. An unobservant pup could have chalked it up to the pack being uprooted, but Sandor was not typical and he definitely did not think it was just them moving to a new place. She grinned as she greeted him, stopping next to his head; Sandor cocked his head and tilted it back so that he could peer up at her with a silly grin. She felt the need to be grown up- but he didn’t. Not right now at least.

Her genuine smile shifted to a different one, but he didn’t realize it was forced, just different. When she spoke and her smile faded he sighed softly. He understood where she was coming from; although their circumstances had been drastically different- they’d both had to leave their homes. Sandor would shift, grimacing as he rolled away from her so that he could get to his feet. Gaze turned towards the distant volcano, the looming clouds in the distance the reason they had to leave. “We’ll be able to go back soon enough..I bet it will be even more beautiful than before.” He tried to cheer her up, but he wasn’t sure if he succeeded. The silent thought of ’at least we can go back to this home…’ hit him hard. The exiled prince couldn’t go back to his birth home, he couldn’t go back to his mother.

It didn’t occur to him that she was worried for her pack mates that hadn’t made it to the island yet.

Siobhan tried to keep herself chipper, but it was hard. she realized, for the first time, that she was mostly alone. her siblings didn't spend that much time with her - even her own twin was a bit absent from her life. her parents were both busy doing parent things. she had really no one to speak to or talk about her worries with. she kept them all inside, making a front for the others to be happier than her. her ears pinned against her head as she stared down at Sandor again, happy that he at least was here for her. then the inevitable sadness rolled in with her own realization she hadn't been there for him much.

that wouldn't do. Siobhan tried to smile when he stated Lirim's territory would be even more pretty when they came back to it. "are you... um... settled in?" the last she saw him, he had been at the meeting and arriving at the island with the others. she'd missed Papa telling him to go with Holland to help. she hadn't even seen Aunt Kairi there and it saddened her. she hoped the cardinal colored wolf was okay... "I dunno what to do now" the girl confessed with a sigh "all my best play spots are back in Lirim." she didn't want to admit she was scared of falling in the water and drowning too.

Sandor was familiar with the burden of doing more and looking out for the pack, he’d felt that way when he was a prince. He’d learned it was not something that should be carried alone; even a leader needed someone to lean on at some point. No one was strong enough to carry it all. Siobhan’s attempts at putting on a smile only saddened him, though he hid it behind a smile of his own. When she asked if he was settled in he laughed softly and glanced at his ‘den’. “Sure…for now. I’ll fix it more later.” It wasn’t the best home, but it would do this was only temporary after all. How better to remind everyone of that than a half ass den?

When she sighed and admitted she wasn’t sure what to do his brows rose. Head cocking to the side at her explanation. A genuine grin pulled at his lips as he got to his feet and shook himself off. “Well, lets fix that then. Lets go explore the island.” He explained looking at her before nudging her gently and walking off away from the dens.
