Icy blue eyes took in the world around him in a flurry. The male was growing weary of his travels as he marched south. The region was seemingly stale which shot a pang of worry through his core. Killian was on the trail of his brother and seemingly another mass of his family. Leaving the dreadful waste of their previous home to venture forth into another pit of hell. The earth was mottled with a pale dust that seemed to linger upon ones form. It was almost a paste from the moistness of the dirt. But, for the most part it was old, for not much ash was still falling from the sky.

Upon reaching the territory Killian could recognize that something was off. The scent of his blood was strong but stale. As if they had relocated which would make sense due to the ash all over the place. If there was a fire or some other natural disaster they must have sought refuge elsewhere.

Killian lulled over his newly presented options. He could either follow the trail onward, wait and see if someone pops up as he takes a rest, or he could just howl in hopes of someone close would hear. Honestly, it only took but a moment for the massive male to decide. The Klein's head was tossed into the air and a booming call was made for Elphias or really any other that may recognize his familial tones.

Eliphas was slowly getting used to the idea of living within the pack, it was still different from how he grew up. He could easily see the obvious similarities in his mother and these Empirical Kleins. The young man still enjoyed his solitude though, and he made his way to the lands the Ashen Empire first claimed. He sought out any left over supplies, any plants that might have started to grow. Food.

Merlin kept watch, he’d been doing well so far. After he failed to warn his master about the bear he hadn’t missed anything since. Of course, leaving the pack without an escort Eli was asking to encounter danger again. The last thing he expected on his venture out was the sound of his brother’s voice.

Ivory ears perked and the slate marked Klein shifted his direction towards the familiar call. Eliphas didn’t make him wait for long as Merlin cried out over the scrubrage when he saw the bigger wolf. ”Killian!” He called out when his dual tone gaze caught sight of the man. He grinned widely, having been unsure if he’d ever see his family again when he’d gotten here. Eli hurried towards his sibling on long slender limbs, coming to a halt in a comfortable distance. His tail wagged and he wore an eager grin. ”Hello, brother.”

It did not take long for the slim figure of his phantasmal sibling slithering his way. A familiar grin slipped across inky lips as the brute's tail swayed in happiness. Warmth filled his heart as he studied his seemingly healthy brother. There no signs of immediate stress or illness. Perhaps whoever his brother was with was able to get their group relocated before whatever caused the ash hit them. Despite being in the dark about what may have ravaged the lands he was overwhelmed with relief that Eli hadn't been in harms way.

As Eliphas stopped at a 'respectable' distance the much larger male took a few steps forward in attempt to stuff his muzzle into his brother's neck scruff. It was an attempt at an embrace. "I am glad to see you are well." Killian raised his head and took a step back with a raised brow, "What happened here?" He really didn't waste time while getting down to business.

Killian looked no worse for wear, his head held his and his form well taken care of. He didn't know how long ago his littermate left the forest of their father, but he looked good. Of course Killian had always been more capable physically than his ‘little brother.’ Eli was thin and dainty, and always seemed to be finding trouble. Killian was capable and needed much less worrying over.

Eliphas didn’t deny his brother’s affection, and helped to close the distance between them. He smiled and felt a bit of relief as Killian stood over him and greeted him easily. ”You too,” he offered back before standing back to explain the world around them. ”Volcanic eruption. The Empire is temporarily relocated.” He told him simply enough. ”We’d been told it was our cousin Hannibal, remember?” He asked, like they could forget the stories of their kin. ”His sister Deathbelle is actually in charge. I hadn’t heard her mentioned before, but she seemed to have things more under control than we were led to believe. Did you see the old Empire mom left?”

Eli had stopped there for a day or so, but there was nothing left but dust of old bones.

Killian took in his siblings words with hungry ears. Volcanic Eruption. Honestly, the thought had gone through his mind but massive eruptions were so fare and few between he wouldn't have settled on such. A wildfire that had come and gone was what he suspected but it was odd that there was little to no carnage. Thus, he responded to the statement with a firm nod. It was evident that the pack had relocated but what perked his interest was what came next.

It was true they had loosely remained aware of the Empire their mother had grown up in. Hamiclar, her brother, was their mighty leader for a long while but the crown was passed to the first born son of his. Hannibal was spoken about some but it did surprise him that the crown had been passed so quickly. Deathbelle. The males brow raised as he lulled over the name. He hadn't heard her mentioned before or if he had Killian did not recall.

The brute had passed through the famine plagued wasteland that had been the Empire. Once home to dozens of Wolves it was a literal ghost town. Even the ashen fields of Boreas felt more inviting. The male offered his brother a nod once again, "I almost wish I hadn't." Killian shifted his thoughts to the present. "Tell me of this new Empire led by Deathbelle. Are you a member?" With the thick scent of Klein and much more radiating from the albinos being he could only assume Eli was in fact in the Empire.

Eliphas shook his head in understanding, the old lands were hopeless, even now years later it was terrible. Deathbelle or Hannibal whoever made the decision to leave was smart. Killian went on to question him. ”Yes, but I’m a teacher in the Armada. Deathbelle’s Warlord rules over a second pillar of the Empire, the Ashen Armada. With the eruption things are a bit chaotic, but the Klein’s extend their reach. Just like mom said.” He chuckled, slowly coming to realize why she had left the main body of the empire altogether. Likely she would be dead now if she hadn’t, and they wouldn’t even exist. ”I could have taken a higher rank under Deathbelle’s command, but the challenge seemed exciting and I haven’t quite meshed with our cousins.” He admitted, though it was no fault of their own. He found himself more comfortable in the presence of Sirius’s ‘men.’ ”Will you return with me?” he asked, curious and eager to have a familiar face to lean on.

Killian raised a dark slate brow in response to the announcment of his brother's rank. Teacher. He could imagine his smaller sibling instructing others, especially when it came to herbs or nature as a whole. Killian offered a gentle smile and a nod to Eliphas. "It seems Deathbelle has done well to allow our kin to thrive in these lands. Two packs beneath her reign, impressive." He had heard the tales of Hamilcar's rule. That male had numerous packs doing his bidding with his nose in everyones business. He was a grand war tactician and a great brute. It was almost sad to think Killian never had the opportunity to meet him before the great famine. But, he knew his mother had good reason to remain outsiders.

With Eli's question Killian offered another gruff nod. Of course he would be following his brother. There were no questions to be asked. Never would Killian abandon his sibling and really he had no where else to go. "I'd enjoy to see this Empire for myself." The beast offered a sly grin. "But, I have traveled far and long today and I would like to retire to make makeshift den before going further." Another journey would be pushing his already very tired legs. Killian cocked his head to the side, "Where is the Empire located currently?"

The Klein name was much different here from the forests back home. They were doing well for themselves, that was sure. Eliphas was eager to come along for the ride, and help any way he could, like he promised when he left home. Even if it meant being slightly uncomfortable in his cousin’s presence. ”I can’t begrudge you that, Killian.” He chuckled, knowing how long it had taken him to get here from even the island. ”Do you see that column of red rocks?” He pointed his muzzle in the direction of Ashen’s temporary territory. ”That’s it.” They could see it from here, once Killian was recovered it would take him no time at all to return. ”Do you want me to stay with you..?” He asked, fully expecting his brother to say no. He was tired, and Eliphas had a talent for getting into trouble.
