Walk | Talk | Think

The epidemic had been a stressful time for the grey hunter. Even before her pups had been born she had been overprotective of them, taking extra care of herself to ensure that they grew healthy and safe within her and spooking at every little thing, worrying night and day that somehow she would fail them. In her desperation she had all but forbid them from leaving the densite when the sickness had made its sweep, keeping her family to herself and doing what she could to ensure that they stayed away from everyone else and minimized their chances of becoming some of the next infected.

And still the illness had touched her. She had been so caught up in protecting her family that she had neglected to check on the well being of her friends, namely one in particular. Meili had always been there for her, had even promised to help with her children if she ever needed it. And while she had holed away inside of her den her best friend had sickened and succumbed to her illness, passing away before Ashtoreth even knew she was infected.

Leaving the children behind with strict instructions to stay nearby the den until she returned, Ash had taken a moment for herself. She had thought at first to go see her friend before she was buried but thought better of it. She did not want to remember Meili that way. So her steps had turned and drawn her away from the Plains to the Moor. The fog lay lightly over the snowy terrain and she moved through it almost like a ghost, only stopping when she found the stones situated in their strange circle. She picked one at random and curled up at its base, tucking herself tight as she thought about her best friend and how much she missed her already.

OOC: Gonna go ahead and set this before the challenge, just to save on confusion with the results.
