Lúta's wanderings had lead her northward. She figured that the best time to explore the north would be during the summer before the northern wind started sweeping down, bringing winter with it. As the summer was cooler than usual, or so she'd been told by other loners, she expected the fall to be abnormally cold as well as the winter afterwards. It would take awhile for the weather to settle back into usual patterns since the volcanic eruption.

She maneuvered her way through the Redwood Forests, marveling at the size and beauty of the trees here. Of all the places she'd traveled so far in the north she had to say that this one was her favorite so far. Her ears twitched at the sound of something large moving nearby.

Natha rested on the lower limb of a young redwood. She was stretched out on her belly and cleaning one of her large paws after a scrumptious meal. She liked being up high and if there was one nice benefit to the redwoods it was that her claws allowed her to climb up very high. She had a good vantage point from here so the strange blue wolf didn't go past her notice. She wondered if the woman could be a relative of Jupiter, that crazy bear fighter she'd had the joy, or horror, of fighting with previously. Speaking of bears…

Natha leaned forward, eyes narrowing as she caught sight of a large grizzly moving nearby. Was it going for the wolf? If so, should she intervene?

Lúta squinted near the base of an old redwood when suddenly a grizzly bear burst forward with a roar. She yelled and shuffled back, startled by the bears sudden appearance. On instinct her claws unsheathed from her paws as she swatted the bear right across the nose. The bear let out a roar of pain and surprise as it stumbled back, staring at her in shock and anger. Lúta wondered if she had crossed into the bears territory by mistake. She wasn't knowledgeable on the scent marks of other animals even though she intended to learn. Still, if she didn't cross the border of any predator she'd be unable to travel. It was a risk she just had to take though she hated to see it paying off like this.

Natha watched as the bear charged forward before getting struck on the nose by yet another wolf with retractable claws. What was going on? Why did so many wolves here have claws like hers? The bear roared and shook it's head, backing up right into the base of the tree she was hanging out in. Well, now this was almost too good to pass up. She stretched, aimed and then with a silent leap she dove down to the bear, claws extended as she landed and latched onto its back. The bear roared and flailed, immediately trying to reach back and get her. Natha growled and yelled at the stranger. "You gonna help or not!"

The bear snarled, blood dripping from its sensitive nose as it eyed Lúta. Before the beast could charge forward though a lynx appeared out of nowhere and landed on the bear's back. It let out a roar and tried to reach back to get the cat. This was all so strange! The cat yelled at her in the common tongue and Lúta nodded. She hadn't really been planning to fight but if the pair of them could get their point across maybe the bear would leave them alone. She dove forward her fangs and claws latching around the bears left hind leg, she kept her body to the back to make her harder to reach though she had to let go and dive out of the way as the bear almost sat down on her.

Natha held on, pleased that the wolf finally seemed to get a hint and dive into action. In the mean time she held on as long as she could, flinching as the bears massive claws seemed to get closer and closer. Suddenly the bear sat and Natha finally lost her grip. The wolf had let go to and the bear, free from the other predators, bolted forward. Natha hissed and bounded forward but rather than stand his ground and fight the bear took off. He'd had enough of this. He wasn't that hungry! With a grin Natha turned to the strange looking wolf. She was starting to consider herself something of an expert in fighting bears.
