Áskell settled down on the largest island of the archipelago after he tuckered himself out running back and forth across the bridges that connected the islands. He and his father were visiting Harbringr's old stomping grounds and collecting the last of his things before they'd officially be done moving into Habari. There was also the big pup training lesson to be had with the Empress soon. He couldn't wait for that!

With some of his energy spent his companion Kári had gathered some pieces of flint and granite in order to teach the young pup flint napping. The object of this lesson was to make a flint spearhead that could eventually be added onto a spear or other weapon. The magpie settled on a large stone in front of the wolf pup with his own set of items. "Ok, the first thing you need to do is examine your piece of flint. Follow the main ridge and decide where the point should be. For example," the bird lifted up his own stone. "Based on these lines here I'm going to have my point be here. Path of least resistance and less work."

Áskell nodded and examined his own piece until he decided where he thought the point of the spear ought to go. He pointed his out to the bird who nodded.

Gossamer explore the Ashen islands as she waited for the training to begin. She was excited but also nervous. What if their parents were going to watch? What if she didn't do a very good job? She tried to push those thoughts aside as she and Ásta arrived at the island they plan to do some crafting on. Today's lesson was moss bandages using sphagnum moss. The first trick of course was to find the moss in the boggier areas of the island.

Gossamer worked her way through the territory until she spied the bounds of moss growing in amongst grasses and wild garlic. "Ásta I found some moss now what." The fox came up along beside her. "Ok, now you'll want to gather some. Try to gather it as cleanly as you can, use your teeth and aim low."

Gossamer did as instructed and soon had a couple clumps of moss. She wandered for a place for their lesson and to her surprise she saw that Klein boy for awhile back. She set her moss down. "Fancy meeting you here, here for the training?"

Áskell worked away at the flint, stopping only when he heard a familiar voice. He looked over to see Gossamer, the Armada princess carrying some strange plants in her mouth. "Yep. Ready to show what I've learned so far. Hope you've been practicing." She was younger than he was and he couldn't really imagine losing to such a young pup.

Kári continued on with the lesson. "Ok, try striking the flint with one of the granite stones. Use short, hard strokes to take away flint a few flakes at a time. You don't wan't to hit too hard and crack the whole thing in half." Áskell nodded and picked up the piece of granite in his jaws. Aiming carefully he started to chip away at the flint.

The boy confirmed that he was indeed there for the empire training. She snorted at his comment. "You bet. I'm as good as any fighter here." Her bravado hid her concern. She really didn't want to let her parents down in front of the other packs. Maybe she should focus more on her fight skills after she finished the lesson on moss and poultices.

Ásta unrolled a piece of rawhide for a work surface. "Ok, separate the moss into their clumps and then use your paws to start squeezing some of the water out. It will help speed up the drying time." Gossamer nodded. "Ok."

She stared untangling the clumps of moss and setting them down on the piece of rawhide. Once that was done she used her paws to push at the moss, slowly squeezing water out of the tiny plants. When she got as much as she could she moved the clumps to another piece of hide while Ásta drained the first one.

Áskell kept chipping away at the flint, glad the other girl was opting to be quiet for now so he could concentrate. This project wasn't easy though. He could feel his attention starting to wander and the act of napping was hurting his teeth. He set the rock down. "How's this and how much longer is this going to take?"

The magpie cocked its head as it examined the spearhead. "It's up to you how refined you want it but I would suggest chipping off a bit more on this side here." Áskell groaned and went back to chipping at the flint. There had to be an easier way to do this. He was suddenly wishing he had opposable thumbs.

"Ok, now go ahead and pick out grasses and debris and then we just leave them to dry in the open air. Once dry you have a useful bandage that can dress severely bleeding wounds." Gossamer nodded and much like the boy, focused herself on the delicate task at hand. It wasn't easy for the little pup to carefully pick the bits of debris out of the moss and she found herself suddenly jealous of the boy's bird. Gossamer picked up a small stick in her jaws and then holding down the moss with a paw she used the stick to push out more stubborn pieces. When that was done she set the moss out to finish drying and flopped down on her side to take a nap. She wasn't worried about the boy. Ásta would eat him if he decided to be dumb.
