The two wolves had taken down the boar.  The corpse was still steamy hot.  As always there was satisfaction in eating a thing he had helped kill, much more than food brought back by others in the pack.  The smell of the boar's blood wasn’t going unnoticed though.

Even as they ate another hungry predator was heading towards them.  The tiger had initially been coming this way for the water but it wasn’t against taking an easy meal away from two wolves.  Large paws spread their weight easily amongst the rocks, muscles shifting over rocks as it climbed towards Fern and Kotori.  A warning rawr coming out to see if they could easily be chased away instead of risking the fight.

Kotori looked up then moved to stand between the kill and the tiger, making sure it knew well this would be a fight.  Lowering his head so it was even with his neck and showed off his own fangs.  The tiger charged and Kotori ran forward to meet him.  The first attack left both without satisfaction.  Kotori had lunged in to bite, the tiger’s paw swiped out with its unsheathed claws.  Kotori backed up but again stayed between the cat and their hard-earned meal.

Kotori Fatalis

 

The boar is fat and Fern is hard at work eating her fill. Gray head lifts and eyes flick toward where Kotori’s attention suddenly shifts to. A tiger moves effortless over stone and grass alike, large paws pulling it closer to the two, eating wolves. With the brown wolf quickly moving to stand between the predator and their kil,l dropping easily into his defense stance, Fern steps away from her meal. She leaves the blood that stains her mouth, and pulls her lips up to reveal her crimson coated teeth. The tiger growls deeply, tail flicking in agitation as the wolves refuse to leave.

The tiger’s attention is drawn to Kotori as the brown wolf lunges forward seeking to bite the threatening tiger. Fern takes the opportunity to move around the left side of tiger for a better angle of attack. Bite and cat claws miss and Kotori quickly retreats, moving to stand between the tiger and their food. The tiger moves to charge at the brown wolf and Fern darts in toward the cat. Mouth opens, teeth flashing in the light before closing around the tiger’s back right leg. The predator lets out an indignant yowl of pain, quickly turning to swipe at the gray girl.

However, its claws find no purchase as Fern is already gone, having released her hold almost instantaneously and is currently racing around toward the tiger’s butt, trying to draw the large cat’s attention away from Kotori.


"Fern"

Kotori’s charging back at the tiger the moment its attention shifts to Fern.  Head lowered he slams his head into its shoulder, ripping up to slash it.  Even as the head twists away from the shoulder the wolf’s mouth is opening with an intent to bite for the neck.

The tiger’s fast though and it spins from where it wanted to attack Fern to try and take a bite out of Kotori.  Kotori dates back, snarling, snapping at the air to keep the tiger’s attention on him.  It’s now got an injured back leg and a front shoulder slashed open.  Its movements were going to be slower than the wolves and it had to know that.  Kotori bet the cat was regretting its thoughts on an easy meal now.

The wolf's eyes flick towards his temporary partner behind the cat but unfortunately can't get enough time for a good look. Hopefully, she's fine.


Kotori Fatalis

 

Her plan works and, as the tiger turns its attention to Fern, Kotori darts in to slash open its shoulder, causing the angry, and now hobbled, cat to yowl in anger and flip back toward the brown wolf. As soon as its attention shifts, Fern dashes in, clamping her teeth around the same area she had attacked before, opening the wound further and further. It will serve to slow the big cat even more, and make it think twice about trying to steal their kill. A large, clawed paw swipes at the head and the gray girl releases her hold to avoid the deadly paw.

The tiger is angry and Fern grins happily, sticking her tongue out at the wounded beast. That got its attention. The tiger roars its anger, lunging toward the gray girl.


"Fern"

Kotori snorts in bemusement at Fern taunting the cat.  She’d already done some good damage to its legs.  The cat had to know it couldn’t run away from them if it wanted to and that might be the only reason it was choosing to stay and fight.
While Fern kept its attention on her Kotori used the advantage they now had for an oldy but goody favorite attacked he’d used a few times against other wolves.  He wouldn’t normally think of it against a tiger but this one was wounded and slowed.  He ran straight towards the front of the cat, lowered his shoulders and head to bite for the underside of the cat's neck, even as that connects he jerks his head up so that his horns slash up against the underside of the cat's jawline.  It partly clicks against the jaw bone but one horn gets in between the hard bone slashing deeper.

The tiger paw comes up and Kotori has to dart away, losing a bit of fur on his back end where the cat claws had just nearly got a lot more than fur.  Ok, maybe he’d pushed his luck but blood is flowing from the cat's neck.  With the cat's full attention on him, it should be easy for Fern to finish it off.  There was no way the tiger would be moving fast now.  Leg injures and the blood it was losing was growing by the second.

"Kotori Fatalis"

The horned wolf uses the opening Fern created to use its horns in the cat’s throat. Bright, crimson blood spills down the side of its neck, eyes widening as it finally realizes it will not be leaving her alive. What was the that saying? Mess with the bull… get the horns? The tiger is rapidly losing blood and it stumbles, falling heavily to the ground. Fern casts her aqua gaze to Kotori before quickly stepping in to end the tiger’s suffering. It does not fight her, looking to her with an almost pleading expression as the flame of its life slowly flickers out. Lowering her head, Fern places her jaws around its throat and pulls. Blood pools and its eyes glaze over.

Moving away from the tiger’s body, Fern looks between the dead boar and tiger. Looking to Kotori, cocking an eyebrow, Fern asks, “Well… now what do we do?” She did not want to this much meat to rot in the sun.
