I can take ya!

Kal’s lower legs were wet and a bit muddy from having waded in a shallow region searching for anything of interest.  The normal stuff had lost their excitement.  Dead fish that washed to the edge was no longer as exciting as they’d been when he was younger.  He’d eaten an already dead fish once and felt sick for a couple of days afterward.  If he couldn’t tell how long or why a fish died he wasn’t eating it.  An hour's worth of stalking the lake edge had come up with nothing worth taking back home with him.

Leaving the water's edge the boy jogged along a mix of grass and brush before he spotted Ulmaria.  Kal jogged over towards the other pup, calling out “Hey!”  Kalyke was a spirited boy, ready to take on any challenge and he was clever but he had a lack of focus.  The water searching was down and now it was time for something new.  “Hey, Ulmaria!  Wanna fight?”  He’d be a great warrior someday.  As soon as he quit being clumsy when excited which would happen any day now!
