Corbie trotted through the late-winter slush with a brace of rabbits - beginning to show brown hairs with the promise of spring soon to come - on her way back towards the distant grassland where Tam waited with the flock.

It wouldn’t be long, she hoped, before it was no longer just her and the collie living there, but a full community. She’d given it so much thought lately that she almost couldn’t wait to bring that dream to life. She felt, though, that she had much yet to do before she was actually ready to bring others into the fold. The opportunity would present itself, and she would be there seeking it when it did.

She paused and lifted her head, ears tilting as she caught the sound of pawsteps.
unless otherwise stated, Corbie's kinkajou companion is with her at all times

Kiela had ventured much further south than she had in quite some time. Through usually she tended to stay far north, her herd was beginning to begin their migration now that spring was upon them and she thought it best to stretch her paws beyond her usual stomping grounds in preparation for the season to come.

Large paws carried the dire-sized woman through the slush, her pace only slowing when the scent of a stranger reached her nose. When she finally came upon the woman, carrying two freshly slain rabbits, Kiela paused for a long moment before clearing her throat. Small talk had never been her strong suit and even though she'd largely adjusted to the sorts of wolves she encountered in Boreas, she hadn't gotten much better at it. "Good afternoon," she greeted Corbie plainly, her voice still possessing the heavy accent that showed she was not originally from these lands.

The woman who had appeared in her view was much taller than Corbie, dwarfing her in comparison, but Corbie looked up to her with a quiet confidence. "Good afternoon," she said automatically in return, then cocked her head curiously at the other woman's accent. "You are not from here, are you?" Perhaps an obvious statement, given the accent."My name is Corbie. How do you do?" she added politely. The other woman seemed completely at home in the chill air. Corbie was warm enough in her fur, but the stranger seemed to own it, like it was a balmy summer day. Corbie shifted her weight, turning further toward the woman so she didn't seem impatient to be gone. She was in no hurry, and found herself intensely curious about the woman who had appeared so suddenly.

Kiela's own demeanor possessed the same quiet confidence and little else. Around most wolves she was fairly relaxed and Corbie was no different. Her posture was casual enough to show she meant absolutely no threat, but still she looked appropriately wary, ready to flee if the stranger's intentions provided anything less than cordial. "I am not. The north is where I call home, though I was not born there," Kiela admitted after a moment of thought. "The name is Kiela. Do you call these parts home, Corbie?" She lifted her head slightly to cast a wide glance at the basin around them, wondering if she was more familiar with this region of Boreas than she was. Even if she didn't consider it home it was likely she was far more familiar with the terrain here than she was - or might ever be.
