The song of insects wove a tapestry of sound around Fiadh as she ambled beneath the dwindling light of day. Soon, the fragile creatures would descend to their earthen homes where they would wait out the frigid cold of winter - but for now, they sang the small-statured woman a lovely tune to accompany her slow procession through the Plains. She was unhurried, especially when a streak of motion slid into her periphery and she tipped her head skyward to follow it - discs of silvered lavender tracking the billowing trail of the aurora dancing across the sky. The grass had largely hidden it from view for her, but now laid bare to her, she was hopelessly captivated.

Her ears pricked with intrigue and she shifted her body to face the direction in earnest, eyes owlish as they reflected the vibrant harmony of color. Although it said little to profess she had never seen anything like it before, it remained true - she could not recall such a beautiful, entrancing sight. The tones shifted like underwater silk, flowing and twisting endlessly into one another. It was ethereal, breath-taking, mystifying.

Without much rhyme or reason other than the buzz of energy coursing through her veins, Fiadh dashed through the more shallow streams branching between expanses of long grass. Her dainty paws created a pitter-pattering rhythm as she twirled and pivoted in her haphazardly-placed, dancing steps that flowed to a tempo confined to the boundaries her own mind. The shallows underpaw reflected the otherworldly colors above her, the surface rippling and disrupting the scene each time her toes made contact.

She cared little for whether her antics remained hidden or found - it was, after all, quite rude to let the sky dance all on her lonesome on such a beautiful night.

There was magic in the moonlight of an autumn night. Coran couldn't resist soaking it in for he wasn't tired enough to sleep yet and there was still much to be done. He slipped from his den and started clean up supplies. Moments later the sky burst to light, an aurora stretching out above him. He couldn't help but take a moment to stare upward at its beauty. In a land turning soft with golds and browns the sky pulsed with electric color.

Coran reluctantly turned his head from the site and gathered his supplies before heading down to the stream. There he could work and watch the reflection of the sky join with the surface of the water. He cared a piece of bone in his mouth and set it down to begin chewing. He planned to make a small knife if he could get it in the right shape. Coran set to chewing, his fangs running along the bone. He worked with his teeth for a bit, but realizing this would take awhile he hopped up and got a rock. Coran seized the rock in his teeth and lifted it high, dropping it on the bone til it cracked. That was better! Sitting down he chewed some more until he got a nice shard that would make a good blade.

Coran was content to keep working but the sound of something moving fast through the grass gave him pause. Whatever it was seemed small, but he'd had enough encounters with smaller predators to be wary.  The creature was racing down the stream and soon he realized it was a lovely young woman. Coran breathed a quick sigh of relief before clearing his throat and calling out. "Hello there! Lovely evening isn't it!"

Though the sound of something being manipulated with force rang through the air - softened by distance, Fiadh failed to notice it in her trance. It was only Coran's voice that stirred her from the object of her attention, and she came to a stop with her next prance, whirling to meet him. Each movement was fluid, as though planned, and she regarded him with a smile.

The man seemed solid white at first glance, but with the rippling aurora overhead, the tenderheart realized there were subtle patterns, shifts of color in his coat that the night dulled. He was taller than herself, which was not precisely a great feat - but she did not feel intimidated. His words were soft and friendly while his presentation seemed friendly - there was nothing to fear as far as Fiadh was concerned.

"Dia duit*," she bade him mirthfully as she made to glide his direction, tail swaying in an amicable wag with her movement. Fiadh stopped once she was close enough to speak without raising her tone. "I didn't know anyone else was here - I hope I did not interfere with your evening." Gesturing to the sky with her muzzle, she added, "It's beautiful - I've never seen anything like it."

Indeed she had not, for her family's pack had not existed in a space afforded such a sight. That mattered now now, however, as she was content to have experienced it at all.

The lovely woman stopped in her dancing to greet him. Coran's ears stood up in attention as she spoke the Old Tongue. He knew very few outside his family that spoke it. How thrilling! "Dia duit! No, no, you do not disturb me. I was outside enjoying the show as well while I finish a few projects. I've never seen the aurora so far south." Coran could understand being so entranced by the lights, they were far too beautiful to sleep through. Though a flicker of concern settled in his stomach as he lifted his head to watch the lights once more. What was the reason for the lights to drift so far south?

He let the thought pass from his head. "My name is Coran Adravendi. My I ask yours? As well as perhaps, where you learned the language you used in greeting?

While he spoke Coran carefully started running the shard of bone over a nearby stone to sharpen and sculpt it even further. Once he had the blade where he wanted she sat it down and considered what to do for the handle. He had a nice stick that would work well, unless he tried to shape the remaining bone? No, no, it was a fragment and the thin shape would make for a poor handle.
