Astrea hummed. It had been a long time since she sat on this cliff side and just looked up into the stars. Felt like a lifetime ago since she been back, since she spent any time with Ten and just watched the stars. She frowned then thinking of the big guy, she knew that they had grown apart even before she left in the spring, but now he was nowhere to be seen. But he was an adult as was she, if he was mad at her behavior and left she would accept that as her loss and mistake.

She sighed as she traced the stars, thinking of another someone who spent time with her at this spot. Where was voltage? He had not showed up when she came back and that was not like him. He was normally the first one to pounce her instead she got his kid. The very thought of the little thing brought out a smile to her face. So much like her father but at the same time not. Illume reminded Astrea of... Well herself. She spoke much the same as Astrea did, but in a more outgoing light. She spoke of the calling, a calling that was the same as she felt.

Illime needed to be close to the sky like Astrea needed to be close to the stars. And Astrea was going to help the her the best way she knew how, the same way volt help her through her own period of uncertainty. Astrea wanted to be the rock that held the next generation together, she wanted to help them realize and accept the nature that they where born too. That was Astrea's goal in life, to help her family who needed it to understand the nature of the elements that ruled them. She wanted to be the rock that volt had been all those nights ago when they had watched the stars...

Voltage could sometimes be a little sneaky. At least, when he tried to be. He had known Astrea had returned from her scent, but sadly he hadn't been around for her return to the pack. The one time he had decided to venture out of the packlands in quite sometime, and something large goes down. When he had crossed the land border he had been exceedingly surprised by the very familiare and very fresh scent of his littlest sister. Happiness had soared through his chest, taking wing like it hadn't in quite some time. One of the missing had returned! Now, all he needed was Serefina, and..maybe, one day, Arcus. He had sighed at the thought, knowing his stormy brother resented him, but there was nothing he could say to get passed his anger. But that wasn't too important anymore. Now, he had Astrea to catch up with. Luck had been on his side as dusk turned to night, and the stars began to glitter. He didn't have to hunt her down at all, no. He knew exactly where she would be.

So on delicate paws he had climbed the cliffs, sneaking with a perfection grown from having a mischevious daughter. He had gotten quite good at sneaking up on her and catching her breaking rules or doing something bad. He'd tiptoe along the cliffs, eyes shining brightly as they settled on the midnight color of his sister...and her many new additions. Blinking, he'd take in her array of feathers, before a small smile touched his lips. He'd step up behind her then, looking out at the horizon over her shoulder. "You know, sister, I wasn't being serious when I said I wouldn't be surprised you'd grow wings." He'd whisper beside her ear, his signature grin upon his lips. Stepping around to the side, he'd look at her with bright eyes. "Welcome home, Astrea." His voice was soft, tender, and he felt every emotion bubble and pour from him. Every shred of happiness increased tenfold, and every moment of anxiety and sadness seemed like a long lost memory. "Mind if I join you? I've missed having a reason to stay up at night." He said with a laugh, moving to sit reguardless. He knew her answer, he always knew.

She should have known, she should have known that thinking of the devil would summon it. She was smiling up into the stars, minding her own business when the on paws made of clouds(she swears!) he sneaked up behind her, almost skinning her by fright. Her heart rate thundered in her chest as she glared daggers at her elder brother, almost hating him at that moment. Then at that moment he had to flash his grin, and everything seemed to fall into place.

The little scamp even brought up one of the most memorable moments in her life. "Yeah well I thought I should at least try." She gave him a lopsided grin back at him, then turned back to the stars, her pale eyes tracing over her favorite paths. "The stars never change. Always constant and always guiding those in need." She could not look at him then, her eyes, she seemed to need to tell him something, tell him why she left without a word. "I wanted to be like the stars, I wanted to be able to be unmoving like they are. I wanted to be the rock that you where to me." She did look at him then. She wanted him to know how much she looked up to him, how much he meant to her.

"Volt, I should have told you I was going, but everything changed when you came back and told us that our parents died, I was a cowered. Doing what I always did when things did not go the way I would have liked, I ran." Even though it was for the best for everyone around, her running out without a word was the cowered way, she should have at least told Volt what was happening. But that was how she was, the very thing she sought to fix. "Volt, I know I am not perfect, I still have my faults and I still may have childish streaks but I will try to be mature, I will not run from my problems any longer. If there is a problem I will face it head on and then try to fix it the best I can." With that she looked at look at him then, determination in her eyes. "I will be the guide that our family needs and deserve."

Voltage Elementas

Voltage's eyes were on the stars, tracing the shapes that had become so familiare in the recent years. He would sigh softly, tilting his head to the left and remarking silently on the fact that the stars seemed so much brighter tonight. Things were settling back into place. When she began to talk, stormy eyes would shift to her, ears perked to soak in every word he had missed, every sound. He wanted to interrupt her, to tell her it wasn't necessary. He understood, he always did. Somewhere under the flurry of emotion he felt, he always knew why, even when he couldn't accept it. But he let her speak, a tender smile on his lips, missing this. Missing sharing these nights with her, these talks. She had grown, he noted. It wasn't just the feathers that were new. There was this light to her eyes, this knowledge he hadn't seen. And he felt so proud.

When she finished, he allowed a silence to settle around them, his eyes shifting from her back to the stars that painted the sky. "A long time ago, long before you were born, two little boys were cast from their home. For an entire year they searched the island that they had called home for answers. They searched the skies, the waters, the heavens and the earth for what they should do. They struggled to survive, not knowing how but quickly having to learn..." He said softly, staring out at the stars. "Sometimes it takes these surprise journeys, these random, quiet events to teach us what we need to know." His voice was tender, soft, his eyes always on the stars. "While they never found their answers, and now they never will...they learned to depend on one another. They found their elements, found their truths, and found their future a year later in the faces of their siblings when they had been cast out as well." He smiled softly then, finally looking at Astrea. "I could never be mad at you for taking your journey. We all have too, even if it's metaphorical. Even if it's all in our hearts. Even if we have to leave to ifnd it." He sighed softly, turning to the ground and thinking of Arcus. "Even if our answers mean...we must leave the home we had belonged too..." He would sigh softly, all the melancholy he felt over his stormy brother's decision heavy in the air. Stormy eyes would lift again, searching for Astrea's own eyes. "I am proud of you, my littlest sister." He whispered, shifting to press his shoulder against hers. "Nothing will ever change that. You don't need to explain to me, just know I will and have always supported you."

Astrea waited, she waited for her dearest sibling to cast verdict on her. Fear gripped her, she was afraid that he would cast her out, that he would never understand her need to come to terms with events of the past and try to forge a better future. The silence made her on edge, she fidgeted just before his soft voice filled the void she had let stretch. He was calm and caring, but above all he understood! He understood her little spirit quest, her understood her need to leave and find that center that she now understood enough to move on from her childhood.

She still felt unbalanced, she still felt that she was not always of this earth, and still felt that she was out of her depth. But her family is what grounds her, they gave her purpose for being on the earth. He family was her life and she would give them everything she was. He was proud of her. She smiled then, her face lighting up. Yes everything she is is for her family.

"So now that that is out of the way." She turned to Volt then her smile faltering a bit. "I saw one of your young. I am sorry I missed the birth. She is troubled, she does not know why she is so... drawn to the sky." She then smiled at her brother her eyes full of humor. "She reminds me of myself, it reminds me of when I was young and always restless, always trying to find the best way to see the night sky..."

She pressed her paw to her chest, over her opal, humming softly, "I can already tell that she is a handful." She got to her paws then and turned to her brother. "Volt, you need not worry about her getting into trouble on this cliff any longer, tell your daughter that she may come up any time she needs, Zori and I will watch her whenever she does." She gave him a lopsided grin. "You cannot tell her not to, its in her nature to be close to whats calling to her, just as it is mine." She laughed then. "I think brother, me and your daughter will be close."

Voltage Elementas

Volty would grin brightly at her, shifting to nuzzle into her as her eyes lit up. Everything they were was for their family. They all lived for their siblings, lived to help, lived to love, and lived to protect. An Elementas was not just one, they were a unit, they were the universe. Astrea meant the world to him, just like each and every one of his other siblings. They all meant everything, and he was proud to have them all with him, every day. "Astrea, there is nothing you could ever do that would weaken my love for you." He whispered tenderly, placing a kiss atop her head and nuzzling into her cheek. Everything about her gave him home, that maybe soon he'd see more of his family, and maybe those missing would return. He missed them all, it felt as if his world had gone grey.

But the conversation quickly shift, and he'd blink at her assessment of his daughter. A smile would touch his face as he looked at her, pride coloring his eyes but he would keep this formal if she was. With a slow nod, he'd acknowledge her observations. "I am sorry Gaia couldn't hold them in long enough for you to be here."  He said with a small grin. "You've met Illie, obviously. Current is my other daughter, and she follows her mother's temperment and my element." He'd say softly, laughing as Astrea stated that Illie was a handful. "Oh Astrea, that is an understatement." He would laugh goodnaturedly, grinning as she turned to face him. Her voice was commanding, and he would raise a single brow. This certainly was new, but this was also her playground, when it came to the elements. He'd hum softly, looking out at the ocean beyond the cliffs and sighing.

"We haven't had the full element conversation with the girls yet. I wanted them to have a normal enough childhood to begin with. But as Elementas, it was only time it seems." He said softly. "I don't like her on the cliffs because she isn't...responsible. She's a child with little forethought, never watching her steps. Its only a matter of time before she trips over her paws and falls into the ocean." He said softly, looking out at the pitch black waters, like a monster's mouth waiting to swallow them whole if they weren't careful. "The ocean, these cliffs...it has always made me wary. But, luckily, you were all far more than old enough to know not to get too close to the edge. It's never been about keeping her from her element, Astrea. It's been about her safety." He would look at her then, the constant anxiety his sky loving daughter gave him, the constant worry he felt that made him so tired, so on edge not showed through his stormy eyes. "A handful, Astrea, is an understatement. Trust me, she takes after me and then some." He'd breathe a laugh, shaking his head. "I hope you understand what you're getting yourself in too. "

Astrea was almost shocked at herself with the command in her voice, but it was true. The girl needed to be here, she needed to connect to the elements that called to her. When Volt went into detail about why the girl did not understand the pull it made since, but not the reason why... She was not sure when she realized that the stars where the reason for her restlessness but when she did was at peace. But the next generation has something that hes did not, they have those who know about the connection, they know about the connection if not how or why they had them. This girl had been allowed to wonder in the world without that knowledge for far to long and that was her fault... Astrea should have been here for her new little nieces, to guide them when no one else was prepared to...

She looked at volt then, her eyes sad at his lack of understanding... "Volt, you know we can not ignore our connection. No matter the reason. You have let your daughters go without any explanation of WHY they felt the restlessness. Even fear of pain and heartbreak is not a good reason for the confusion that they must feel, especially your more energetic child. Maybe the reason she has been such a handful is because she had not been getting what she needed. Just think about the way I would be if I could not see the stars day after day?"

She sighed, looking away from her brother and siting back down. "Volt, we all react differently to our connections but something I know is that are nature are amplified by denying them." She hummed then and thought back to a time when she met someone, a small thing, even shorter than herself, she had said the most profound thing with sadness in her eyes. "To live, is to risk death." She looked at her brother her eyes sad. "You need to let go brother, she is young yes, but old enough to understand the danger of the cliffs. I have a feeling that she would make her way up to the cliffs regardless, and if she has to sneak she could be in more danger than if she was allowed up."

She then smiled at her brother than, as he talked about the trouble she was getting into. "Brother, no worries. With Zori's and my watchful eyes she will be fine." She smiled at him knowing that it was in his nature to worry about those who he cares about but this was not a good time to shelter his children, it was doing a whole lot more harm then good.
