Blowing the Bugle Horn
First Round due by December 11th
With Leshia gone and activity being quiet, even at the last meeting called, it had been decided that a pack hunt was a must. It was winter and the pack needed to be fed to survive and without hunters, the other ranks were needed to step up and fill in the gaps. That was how a pack should work regardless of the title you held. The pack needed to step up or else their survival would be on the line. He trudged further from the location of the herd, determination in his eyes. He was placed in this rank to help Rory out and he had every intention of doing so and this meant to kick activity into gear and keep the pack on their feet. The seasoned hunter traveled far enough away that the quarry wouldn't be spooked by his howl. Once reaching a decent spot, he stopped in the hard crusted snow. This type of snow was deep, but the thick crust and the way him and his fellow wolves, they would be able to move on top of the snow with ease, and without sinking to awful much, but for their quarry, it would not be that easy on them. He hoped it would make this hunt more easy and smooth since not all of the wolves attending may not be the most skilled, but could manage. Lifting his head he let his deep toned, booming howl ring through the quiet winter air, calling fourth the whole pack in order to bring down a good meal. |
A howl stopped him in his tracks and ears swiveled towards the unexpected noise. He'd been stalking a rabbit that had now been spooked. He wasn't dismayed though and instead he let the hare dart into a bush as he headed off towards Frostbite's call. It was nice to know the male had stepped into his role rather well. Lately he'd been feeling less pressured and stressed by the pack so it was obvious Frost was doing his job well. A pack hunt was definitely a good way to start.
He stalked through the snow and it wasn't long before he found Frost waiting for the rest of the pack to arrive. It was disappointing that Leshia had left and it gave them quite a predicament with the amount of hunters they had. He hadn't seen too much of Rin around and since Frost had gotten a rank upgrade, well they were the only hunters Lirim had. Maybe it was time to go recruiting?
"Hey Frost, what are we hunting today?"
"Speech"
She had been doing what she did best, alot of crafting with things she could find and a lot of border watching. She'd never been really good at hunting but she made due with scavenging on the kills of her pack mates. Frost's call caught her attentions and she perked her ears. it sounded like a pack hunt. She wasn't sure what help she would really be but it didn't sound like an optional thing. She rose to her feet and made her way in his direction, trying her hardest to be careful not spook whatever prey was here. When she came to find Frost, Rory had already arrived. She eyed them both and spoke quietly. "Jewell not sure how help, Frostbite tell Jewell how help?" likely she'd end up screwing something up but she could say she tried to follow instructions this way. Walk, "Talk" Think |
Faite as Jewell's guardian is allowed in any and all her threads regardless of the tag. She may enter as she see's fit.

Torin had been about to try and track down Frostbite and shadow him but it seemed instead the man called for the pack. His ears perked and he stared for a moment in the direction of the call, he took a deep breath and finally followed the call. He approached silently, smiling at Jewell and giving Frostbite a respectful nod. His smile returned, although slightly smaller when he turned his attention to Rory. He settled quietly upon his haunches, waiting patiently for more of the pack to assemble. Torin turned his attention away from the current gathering, wondering who might actually show. He hadn't failed to notice who hadn't been at the last meeting and though he had been frustrated he knew it wasn't entirely his place, still it had caught his attention. |
Breasal has been thinking a lot since the last meeting. Seeing the fight over the alpha position made him wonder... what was he passionate enough to really work and fight for it like that? So far he really hadn’t been much help around the pack and he kind of hoped he could change that. He was way more than old enough to be pulling his own weight, but for whatever reason he wasn’t right now. He was walking through the territory musing over it when he heard Frost’s howl. He listened with interest and smiled a little. What perfect timing. He trotted off to find the hunting party in question which wasn’t too hard to do since there were several wolves here already - including his former mentor and his brother. He decided to sit next to Rory, giving him a grin before he looked to Frost with a smile and a gentlemanly nod. At least he was able to be a little productive today. It wasn’t like they really had many hunters anyway and he certainly didn’t mind hunting. If he didn’t like being a fighter so much he’d probably be a hunter instead. Although if being a hunter would help the pack more... He brushed off the thought for the moment and just settled in to wait for the rest of the pack to get there. |
Her mother had warned her that she wouldn’t like winter, but Daelos didn’t realize just how much she wouldn’t like it. The cold was no fun and she couldn’t say she particularly liked snow, but the worst part... there was no herbs. Anywhere. She huffed irritably as she sat outside their den. She’s spent the morning sorting and organizing their store of herbs, but there was only so much of that she could do before she started moving the same piece of horsetail over and over again. A howl gave her an answer to her boredom and she listened curiously for a moment. Well... she supposed she could help hunt. Surely there would be something she could do to help, right? Daelos got up and made her way over to where the howl had come from. There where what felt like a lot of wolves here already, but she knew there would be more to come. Her mother wasn’t here after all. She saw a couple of her cousins, but she decided it would be best if she sat toward the outter edge on her own. She sat quietly and waited to see what the plan was, tucking her tail around herself to keep her hind paws warm. |
Zuriel had family on the brain a lot lately. That wasn’t too much of a stretch for her, but with her sons still missing, little contact with the rest of her family, and not even the slightest prospect as far as a mate goes she had been feeling a bit lonely. Daelos was probably the only reason she hadn’t gone off the deep end completely. The young girl kept her on her toes with constant questions and lessons. In a way Zuriel was greatful for it. All the questions helped keep her own knowledge sharp and helped her learn or remember facts along the way. She was quick to make her way toward the pack hunt if for no other reason than because she knew Daelos would as well. In fact, she saw her similarly colored daughter already sitting there when she arrived. She smiled at her little over achiever and sat down beside her. Zuriel wished Daelos had gone and socialized with her cousins at least, but she wasn’t surprised to find her sitting alone. Her antisocial tendencies seemed to pass on to her daughter. |
The new alpha guy was calling everyone for a hunt, and Kairi's head shot up from the hole she was digging. There really was no reason for her to dig a hole other than looking for buried treasure (at least that's what she told herself). Abandoning her unfinished treasure hunt, Kairi raced towards the gathered wolves to try her paw at her first pack hunt. She had never really hunted before. In fact, her dad mostly hunted for her because she hardly had the patience to sit and wait. She was always just rushing in and chasing it like around as if she were the headless chicken, and had been unsuccessful every time. She was, however, really good at catching bugs.
As she got closer to the gathering, she spotted her brothers there. Oh goody! She couldn't remember the last time they had all been together, but here they were! She did notice that Jadiah wasn't there, and wondered where her sister was...she hadn't spent a whole lot of time with her, but she could hardly find her anyway. Bouncing over to Torin, she launched herself at his tail and proceeded to nip at it as she rolled onto her side, "Heya Tor!" She knew her brother was grumpy, and probably even more grumpy since he hadn't gotten the position he wanted at the last meeting, so she promised herself to try and make him a little less grumpy in any way that she could. |
