Tyrian was quietly picking along in the brush along the river in search of a runaway sheep. He knew the sneaky bastard had come throw here because there were hoof prints everywhere. This particular sheep was a bit of a problem child. It was too smart for its own good. The clever beast had learned how to undo latches and was smart enough to wait for its minders to fall asleep before it got up to no good. In other words it was a sheep in a league of its own. Given the infuriating behavior of the rest of the flock's younguns Tyrian could only assume this one had received all of the smarts for its generation. The sheep was so notorious it even had a name: Wily.

Tashi, what was sitting on his back, motioned for him to stop. The langur then pointed into the distance, his long, thin finger drawing Tyrian's attention to the path the sheep had ultimately taken after wandering around in the bushes. It was headed towards the water. Perfect. Up ahead was a bend that he thought he could trap the beast in. The water was too high for it to swim across so if he and Tashi split up they should be able to corner it.

The langur leaped off his back and the pair separated, each cutting a path on either side of the one the sheep had taken. If one of them ran into the sheep they each knew it was their responsibly to push it towards the other. Being tall and blue, Tyrian crouched down as he pushed through the bushes. Soon his cover would be gone and he'd be out in the open. Actually...was that movement he heard up ahead? It was, wasn't it? It had to be Wily.

Thinking he had the beast in his grasp Tyrian leaped from the bushes. If it was as close as he thought it was he was going to tackle it and if he'd misjudged the distance well then, he'd give chase. Either way, Wily wasn't getting away.
Tyrian has a saber-toothed snow leopard companion named Zahir, a black-footed gray langur named Tashi and a striped skunk companion he insists on calling Righty even though her name is Daisy. Assume all are nearby if not mentioned.

Tyrian had not misjudged how far away his target was but only the target he had located.  Luckily for Bait he was both keen on hearing, reflexes, and smaller than a sheep. Crouching down and back-peddling even as the giant wolf went over his head all that ended up happening was Bait getting hit in the face with the tail of the giant wolf.  Hardly dangerous but it was rather unwanted.

Tyrian still got to land on something besides earth.  Below one of his back feet was a dead vole, slick from Bait’s saliva.  The fox had spit out his food in the rush of escaping a mountain landing on him.  “My lord Tyrian?” The surprise evident in the voice.  Damn it, Bait disapproved of his dinner being interrupted.  However, he was wise enough to never try and lecture a wolf.

What had caused this bit of unpleasantness? Bait didn’t see this wolf bothering to sneak up on a fox he had allowed in the pack. “Was there something you wanted help with my lord?”  Bait put his best charismatic and humble smile on that foxy face even as his eyes flicked down to his dinner before back towards Tyr.

When he realized what he was on a crash course with wasn't what he was after it was too late to take it back. He was midair, the bushes behind him exploding open as he cleaved through them, and there on the ground was that fox. Blessedly the little beastie was fast and managed to scrambled out of the way. Tyrian stumbled as he touched down, his big paws skidding and his tail windmilling as he worked to counter his momentum. Once stopped he became aware of something wet on one of his paws. He raised it, noted the tiny dead thing plastered to it, and then absently kicked it loose.

Sure he'd been on the right trail, Tyrian turned a quick circle in search of fluff or a curly white tail disappearing into the bushes. Nada. No Wily. Bastard. His expression turned annoyed. It was one damn sheep - the same damn sheep - but catching the fucker was becoming a point of contention. This was one sheep that was definitely getting eaten. The last thing they needed was for her to procreate and pass those intelligent genes on.

"Uhh," he said, his tone distracted and his gaze still darting around in search of the sheep. "Sorry." Well if it wasn't here hopefully Tashi was having better luck. Tyrian's attention finally turned to Bait. He apologized again, this time meaning it. "Sorry, Bait. Thought you were something else." He resisted the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose in exasperation. "And uh, no, it's fine, just a runaway sheep. It looks like I interrupted you anyhow." Doing what exactly, he didn't know. "What are you doing here anyway?"

There went the meal.  Oh well, Bait was well aware there was both a plethora more here and on the pack land.  The good news is he wasn’t a flattened fox.  All it would have taken was one of Tyrian’s giant paws landing on him in the wrong spot to potentially do damage with their size difference.  “Ah, no problem Lord Tyrian.”

Bait relaxed himself, relaxing muscles tensed from the surprise near collision, “Oh, I simply come here time to time for either the fish, or the entertainment.  All this water guarantee’s plenty of amusing things are bound to happen.  Plenty of hiding places as well should something as large and yet less friendly than one such as yourself comes by.” There were only so many predators in the area as large as Tyrian of course, even among wolves he was a giant.  Still, the fox preferred to fight as few battles as possible while still getting plenty of entertainment.

The fox cocked his head up at Tyrian, “So my lord, you appeared to be searching for something.  Shall I help?  I’m not as fast clearly but I can still cover ground and keen senses.”
