He trotted briskly to the meeting boulder, tail flowing level with his hips, occasionally waving in a brief wag. He was a bit nervous, but this was with Aurielle’s blessing, so he straightened his shoulders as he slowed to a stop by the boulder and howled long and loud for the War Circle, though any who wished to involve themselves in the patrol and sentry details were welcomed to attends.
He didn’t sit to wait for them, instead standing, watching the plains around him, wrestling with his nerves at taking a leadership role. He ran over the possible patrol pairs and teams, or maybe he should let them pick their partners? Sentries should be those who worked well together…

Ardyn Cadeyrn Aodhán Phoenix Adravendi |
He’d been expecting the call, but Cairo had gotten the drop on the Destiny—Ardyn had been digging another pit to try hunting with. Or maybe cooking. His head popped above the ground as the howl reached his ears. A pile of damp soil sifted off his head in trails of fire, and soon he was in motion, bounding out of the hole and streaking toward the Meeting boulder.
Coran had beat him to the punch, and he grinned, stretching out his legs and pushing off to launch at Coran in a pounce, aiming to hug the smaller pup around the shoulders, tail torching as he added his input with a grin, tongue lolling, “Me too! Do we pick our partners or are you giving us lists?”
He moved to sit beside his brother, whether he’d flattened Coran or missed due to his brother catching wind of the tackle before he’d leaped. He slanted a grin at his brother, eyes sparkling.

Ardyn at first glance is as black as can be imagined with a raven sheen.
Closer inspection proves that he shimmers in fire tones in every hair on his hide right down to his lashes.
More obviously, he glows like a bed of coals and flames with every movement and brush of fur. His tail is usually wagging, so blazes like a torch.
His adult teeth are in and his saber canines have grown to their full length (see profile). His mane and tail hair have grown to full length, as well as being lightweight and easily buffeted by breezes.
A look at his front paws will give the impression of hands, with his dew claw dropped low and lengthened into a functioning thumb, and his toes elongated into fingers. He has retractable, solid black cat-like claws on every paw.
Ardyn has developed a glowing mast of intricate markings in fire and ice colors over his face, symmetrical over the last seasons of Year 17 (see profile for details). During hunts or raids/sieges, he will smudge them out with black soot to cover the glow, otherwise, they are bright enough to note at first direct glance at his face. Not all his artwork currently portrays the mask markings.
He is also often bedecked in beads, small bells, feathers in blues, ribbons and braids thanks to the Ooze Event of Halloween 2021, and the Coathanger item that he got. The accessories generally are seen most in his mane and tail hair. He removes the brighter items and bells for hunts or battle.
Paladin 'Knight' Ancora |
Though much of his time would be taken up making salves and preparing bandages, tisanes, splints and travois for any wounded – better to be prepared and not need, than to need and not be prepared – that might need them during the raid, Paladin was more than welcome to the idea of rostering some patrol and sentry duties on the side. His fighting days were over, and had only ever gone as far as training.
However, his eyes were sharp, and his ears unhindered by deafness, so he would add to his usefulness, and when he heard Cairo howling for signups to the sentry and patrol details, he dusted his paws of ground Agrimony leaves, nodded to Ime and Kayode as they took over, and trotted down the Ravine, moving briskly.
He came to find the boys and Cairo, smiling warmly at Aurielle’s two sons and the man that might as well have been a son or brother to her as he took a seat. “I’d like to take on some sentry and patrol slots, wherever you need me.”
Amethyst touched sapphire eyes smiled up at the Adravendi as he waited to see who else might come to add their paws to the workload.

The stallion had been nosing through the snow to find decent graze when the howl reached his ears. He was still learning to discern exact meanings in the wolves’ howls and calls, but he gathered that this was the signups Aurielle had mentioned at the meeting.
His tail lifted in a brief flag of interest before he broke into a trot and sought the slowly gathering group of wolves, whickering softly in greeting as he came to stand just a bit behind Paladin and the pups, though his teal eyes watched the boys with a warm amusement and faint longing. How were his foals, he wondered? All grown by now, at the very least the youngest crop would be three now.
How was his sister? Last time he’d seen her, she’d born her third foal. Eventually, he knew, he’d cross paths with the mare again.
He’d caught the tail end of Paladin’s words, and added his own, “And myself, as well.”

He was excited to be put to more use around here and he was willing to do whatever the Sentinel needed of him. "Where ever you need an extra set of paws, let me know." his hushed tones rumbled. He briefly flashed a warm smile at Ardyn and whispered "No bears this time right?" his tone playful and he couldn't help the soft chuckle that rumbled in his chest before he got back on track and returned his attention back to the topic at hand. Where they going to pick partners? He would remain silent and let one of the other wolves pick him if that was the case. Drachen was just happy to fill his days with more work as there was only so much hunting he could do without putting a strain on the prey population.
