He finally formed his band. Indigo was still riding on the high of it. Even now so long after the day they left the Hallows. Indy had Ulric’s blessing and he earned Sirius’s blessing. So far they were doing well, Indigo never felt so in his element as when they were out in the wilds, making camp or traveling. It seemed like he’d gone from periods of gathering plants to constantly being on the lookout. They loaded up their young goats and they were starting to swiftly amass a large amount of herbs for trading.

Indigo was oddly on his own in that early morning, he often woke before the rest of the band and did some scouting before morning fully took hold. He traipsed through the long grasses on the edge of the river, his sapphire gaze alert as he inspected the plants around him but also tried to get the lay of the land and decide if they were going to take this way after they left the area around the Armada.

She was back near the swiftly flowing river. The sounds of fish splashing the water accompanied the burble of it moving steadily along. Sera’s paws wandered aimlessly. She felt restless and uncertain. She didn’t know where she fit into Fireside, and had made the decision to leave that pack. She had hoped it would provide her with security against her foes, but it was starting to feel like another chain about her neck.

So now she was alone again, and she wandered down the stream, wishing it could wash away her feelings of frustration and helplessness. She almost didn’t notice the other wolf. The giant of a creature. Not because he blended into the surroundings, but her absentmindness had gotten away with her. She blinked him into focus, with his thickly shaggy neck, and great purple bulk. He strangely had the look of a lion, though he was clearly a wolf. She eyed him cautiously, wondering what trouble she was stumbling upon now. “Good morning to you.” she said warily.

Indigo waded through the tall grasses the long blades ran through his thick purple fur. The day was early yet, the sun was barely above the horizon as he scouted for the day. Emersyn was on watch duty while he was away. He didn’t ever leave the band for very long, he was far too worried about what might happen while he was away. There were more than a couple of wolves he considered an enemy. Even if he hadn’t ever seen the wolves like Gypsy’s father or Emersyn’s ex-owner. He would always have to be aware of his surroundings and that around his self made family.

Bright sapphire eyes scanned the horizon, and he was much more aware of the woman than she was of him. The massive man slowed to a stop as she approached, but she looked like she suddenly realized she was not alone. ”Good morning,” he returned a soft smile lighting up his features. ”You seem preoccupied,” He observed as he stood stoically before her, not wanting to frighten or intimidate her. ”I’m Indigo,” he offered and waited for her own name. She was a pretty thing, her markings were lovely but he couldn’t help but think she looked sad. She gave him the same vibe as the wolves of his band, sad, lost and broken inside.

They were close enough to speak - which made it pretty close for comfort for the runaway. She eyed him cautiously, the encounter with the white wolf near these parts not far from her thoughts. Would this encounter be just as bumpy? She expected him to make efforts to intimidate her at any moment. He was built for it, with his thick coat, and heavy paws. The light blue of his eyes softened it, just a little. His voice was also gentle, almost encouraging, though she was weary of any immediate kindness. Who was she to him, after all?

Her mouth parted, caught between her inclination to give a lie, and the realisation that she hadn’t thought up a prior name. The delay was likely suspicious, but nothing for it now. “Sera” she allowed, giving up just a portion of it. “Just… lost in my thoughts, I suppose” she said awkwardly.

The girl looked very nervous in his presence, but Indigo didn’t try and press her. He lowered himself back onto his haunches, trying his bets to look a little smaller than what he really was. Bright sapphire blue eyes watched her. She couldn’t have been much older than he was if they weren’t the same age. Indigo surrounded himself with beautiful wolves, and she certainly counted as a gorgeous she wolf. She did pause when he gave her his own name, like she couldn’t even remember her own title. Indy tilted his head curiously, silently encouraging her on when she gave him a name. Soft and sweet as she was.

”Lost in thought or more than that?” He questioned lightly. Indigo recognized the lost look on her features, she didn’t know where she was going in life, but maybe she wasn’t sure where she was either. ”You look like you haven’t been… home.. In a long time.” He observed quietly as he lowered himself to his elbows to further reduce his level of threat.

The other wolf sat back on his impressive haunches. Even seated he towered above her, but he looked as though he was making an effort not to. A kind gesture, or one planned to put her off guard? “Something like that” she agreed softly, cautiously settling back on her own rump. The man seemed to want to stop and chat, and if Sera allowed herself to admit it - she was lonely. Connections seemed rare and far between. She never knew if she was encountering a wolf looking out for number one, or one genuinely interested in those around them.

Sometimes, it seemed like the only way to get by was to take a risk. To try. So she stayed before the purple wolf, and offered him a cautious smile.
Home? No one had asked her about home before. Home was a long way away and a long time ago. “I… I wouldn’t remember home anymore, even if I stumbled across it. What about you, Indigo? Do you remember home.”

He’d seen trepidation before, with most of the wolves in his band, but he couldn’t blame the girl. He did have an intimidating appearance and she couldn’t trust him farther than she could throw him. She shouldn’t either, he hadn’t done anything to earn that trust. She settled with him though, not hesitating to lower herself to her haunches in front of him. Sera gave him a cautious smile as well, one that he returned with one of his own. It seemed that he was correct in his first guess, she didn’t have a home, not really. Not one that she could recognize or remember. The blue marked girl turned the question back onto him.

”I do,” he started softly. He did remember home, but that could have been a lot of places for him too. Where he was born in the Armada, the Hallows castle, surrounded by his band, or her arms. ”It’s actually not so far from here. I was born in the Armada, a pack over that way.” He gestured vaguely in the direction. ”I.. Just started leading a band though. We’re nomads. Don’t stay in one place for too long.”

He did remember home, but he offered no scorn that she didn’t remember her own. She found herself glancing in the direction he indicated - it was her first time hearing of a pack called the ‘Armada’ it sounded as though he did not live there any more however.

“That sounds nice, the safety of running together but you still get to explore.” she had never met a member of a band before. Her parents had been loners, her kidnappers had been loners. Her stint in Fireside had told her packs were too stagnant for her to grow. What did that leave her with? What did she want in life? She wanted to find her fire again. She wanted to learn to fight, to stand up for herself. She wanted to be brave

He wouldn’t scorn her because there was no reason. Who knew why she hadn’t returned home in so long, it was probably a good reason. Not that he would ever know, perhaps he could ask and she would tell him, but she looked and sounded like maybe home was never a real place.

”It is nice. Always a new place to see, different faces to trade goods and stories with.” They hadn’t quite gotten into as much trading as he wanted yet. His father sent him with needed supplies and they were already gathering plants and preserving what food could be carried by the goats. ”So if you have no home, where are you going to go?” He asked with a slight tilt of his head curiously. Maybe she needed somewhere.

She huffed, and offered this strangely sweet giant a half smile. “I haven’t figured that part out yet.” She admitted. She hadn’t had the luxury of stopping and making decisions for so long. First she had been a slave, then she had been on the run. Now? Now she was floating around, trying to figure out what she wanted in life.

“So your new people are traders? Do you trade in all things?” she asked cautiously. To some cultures, people were a commodity. The thought of maying… possibly, seeing if he had space in his band had cropped up. But what if that just led her back right to the beginning?

He got a little smile out of her, Indigo was taking the small victories as they came. She was vague but he got the gist of what she meant. She was searching and looking for the next step. For now she was lost in life with no direction. It sounded a lot like what the rest of the band felt, running away or being saved from a terrible situation. She didn’t seem lost like tragedy had suddenly struck, she seemed lost as in she was never guided how to live life on her own or with freedom.

She asked another question as he built his last one. They were quickly getting there. Did he trade in all things. He knew there were slave traders and he found them detestable. He tried to ignore the thought of them, otherwise he’d drive himself crazy. ”Yes. Mostly in herbs and healing,” he told her honestly. However nonexistent their customer base currently was.
