Keahi had decided to give the land known as the Mile-High Woods a patrol today. Sirius had mentioned this is to be used as hunting grounds and the red wolf has decided to run off some of larger predators that may prey on the food. Silent paws carry her over roots and trunks, her nose constantly wrinkles as she tests the air for the animals she wants. The smell of a large bear reaches her nostrils and Keahi quickly adjust course to find the creature. She finds it, standing in a small clearing, sniffing at the air to find the deer that roam nearby. The red wolf pauses a moment to tip her head back to release a short call for assistance before she lowers her head to charge the alerted grizzly. She snarls viciously at the creature as her red form blurs forward.

"Keahi Mogotsi"

Kotori had been wandering the land, getting a feel for it.  He was always willing to pick a fight with any predator that was too close to pack land and now it seemed he would get plenty of chances in a new territory where other predators.  The scent of coyotes, bears, cougars and other animals that would have to leave was scattered about the woods.

Kotori was more interested in details of protecting their land than dealing with the workings of the marketplace.  Of course, he liked the idea and let others see how strong the armada was, but he had no interest in setting up a shop.  On the other hand, Kotori would be more than happy to drag out any wolf that didn’t mind his manners.

Even as Kotori was scenting at a fallen tree limb that he could smell the bear on, and see the claw marks he heard the call from Keahi.  The branch was left behind and Kotori took off running in the direction, a grin on his face. It didn’t take overly long to get to the new wolf or the bear.  As the bear focuses on the red wolf Kotori runs at its side, head dipping down to slam his horns into the fatty area and jerking his head to rip them back out.  The bear swung a meaty paw at Kotori and the wolf replied by biting the paw before letting go and leaping away to give some distance for a moment.

"Kotori Fatalis"

The grizzly’s attention is so focused on the red wolf that is fast approaching it from straight on that it misses the flash of earthen browns that rushes in toward its side. A smirk appears on red lips as Keahi continues forward, the pair of wolves hitting the bear almost simultaneously. She leaps at the grizzly’s face, teeth seeking the flesh above its right eye. The grizzly roars as the red wolf’s teeth tear a path down its face and through its eye. Paws touch the ground and Keahi is already retreating, the bear choosing to swing at the wolf it can see, which earns it a bitten paw.

Blue eyes follow Kotori for a moment before the red wolf once more rushes in toward the bear. A mighty snarl escapes her mouth as Keahi once more moves toward the wounded bear’s face.


"Keahi Mogotsi"

The bear hadn’t planned on fighting a pair of wolves today and now injured on both sides hesitates for a moment, indecision there.  No time to be indecisive though as the wolves are coming to attack again.  The bear tries to circle around to avoid the wolves, even as Keahi bites for his face.

Kotori starts to lunge back in as if he’d go for another shot at the leg but the bear spins again to try and protect its backside even as he’d use his front paws to try and defend against the wolf in front, and sure claws and teeth if given the opportunity.  

Since the bear seemed dead set on not letting Kotori get to his back leg the wolf compromised and just tucked his head down again and slammed his horns into the front leg, raking up and this time following through with biting into the gouge he had just caused.

"Kotori Fatalis"

Claws and teeth flash toward the red wolf which causes Keahi to duck and dance backward out of the bear’s attack range.  The grizzly’s attention is pulled away from her as Kotori plunges his horns deep into the bear’s front leg and throws his head upward, earning a angry roar for his efforts. Just as the bear shifts to swipe at the attacking wolf, Keahi rushes back in toward the grizzly again, lunging in from its blind side.

Instead of going for its face, the red wolf grabs for the elbow joint on the leg opposite of the one Kotori is attacking. Teeth shred the tendon there, causing the bear’s leg to go limp. Releasing her hold, she backs up a couple steps and lowers her head. Letting out a growl, Keahi launches forward, jumping up slightly to slam her lowered head into the area just behind the grizzly’s shoulder. With a roar, the mighty bear totters a moment before falling over onto his side. Dazed, Keahi lays partially on top of the downed bear for a moment, hoping Kotori can finish it off by himself.


"Keahi Mogotsi"

The girl was keeping the bear's attention and that worked just fine for Kotori.  He was about to bite into the bear again when he spotted what Keahi was doing and leaped back.  The bear teeter tottered on its injured legs as she slammed into it before going down.  Kotori used the opening to use his favorite attack he had trained as a kid for fighting other wolves.

The wolf lunged in with his head down low, putting it underneath the bear’s head for a moment, jerking his head up so the horns slammed into the bear’s jaw, and leaving a perfect opening for his teeth to sink into the bear's throat.  Kotori felt the bear trying to react and as the horned wolf aimed for a better grip he slammed his head up more, deepening the damage in the jaw and throwing off its balance.  The legs were always important but in truth, the head dictates much of what the body could do.  

Finally, Kotori got a better bite past the flesh into the bear's neck, past the extra flappy skin to the part with the muscles beneath, ripping it open so that blood poured loose.  For good measure one more bite inward was taken, ripping out a good chunk of meat and pulled back, watching life-giving blood flowing away as the bear’s life would start to fade.

Kotori stepped over to where Keahi lay, looking down, “You got it down, good job.  Next time let's not have you end up dazed on the ground when you do so.  You can keep with me on patrols for a bit.  Get some more practice in.”
