She hadn't been at the claim, but she had heard a bit.

Eden was not one to pry too much into personal business; she only knew her pack mate was hurt. The Sin could take care of herself, she had proven that to many others over the course of their life. She only approached with the intent to keep them in fighting form. "Pyralis?" She had made sure to practice saying the name of the Sin before coming to them. Finding the old woman on the beach, she approached.

"I heard you could use some medical attention" she ventured, coming to a tentative halt a few steps away. Her satchel around her neck was stuffed to bursting with supplies "I'm Eden, a new member of the Pirates" she added, dipping her neck to the woman "I'm a healer." To be, but better than leaving a wound or bruise to fester alone. She waited for permission.

The walk back to the pirates cove had been brutal. At one point she just had to accept that she was moving faster on 3 legs than she was on four. Her shoulder had been roughly cleaned and bandaged by her companion Alkali but as neither of them were healers it was a rough job. Pyralis hadn't thought much on her loss. It was a shame she couldn't take that pretty girl home with her but the rush of brutality she'd been met with was like an addictive thrill. She enjoyed it in the moment even if the after effects were proving much less enjoyable. Surely it was nothing copious amounts of wine couldn't fix. Maybe with enough preservative she'd live another year.

Once she arrived back she settled in at the beach while a healer was sent for. A lovely young woman arrived and Pyralis nodded."That would be me. Trouble on four feet… well, three as of now." Pyralis shifted her body to present the wounded shoulder. Using her teeth she removed the makeshift hide bandages to reveal deep puncture wounds in her shoulder that went all the way down to the shoulder blade.

She smiled kindly as she took a seat next to Pyralis.

"It will be four again" Eden vowed to her, leaning forward to look at the punctures "it won't do to tell you to stay off it for a few days" She bit back a sigh, admitting the tenacity and the stubbornness of the pirates. Gilgamesh had looked at her as if she had grown a second head when she advised him to do just that "I'll clean it and dress it. If the bandages fall off, come back to see me. If the poultice becomes itchy and dry, come back too."

The woman began to make herself useful. She ground the marigold that had become a staple in her healing to the tree bark, applying a drop of water to moisture the poultice. She wondered if Pyralis would indeed rest, or if she was going to make trouble again. Sigh. What had she indirectly gotten herself into? It wasn't like Ignis had given her a choice. She was here, whether she liked it or not. She was just like any prisoner; except the pirates didn't know she was.

Pyralis chuckled at the healer's words. "Now, now, I'm not as unruly a patient as some of these young rascals. I have no problem lazing about… as long as I can have an occasional glass of wine. Good for the heart you know." She winked at the pretty young woman. She had almost been named Sloth but at her advanced age she hesitated to take on an offical sin title knowing she'd likely only be able to keep it a season or so. With her recent escapades she wasn't living up well to the name anyhow.

Pyr nodded as the healer gave instructions and got to work. Pyralis winced a few times as she worked but otherwise focused on making a bit of small talk. "So Eden, what brings you to the pirates?"

The old woman seemed to be more relaxed and carefree, even amendable than Eden assumed. "We're raiding a pack, aren't we?" she reminded Pyralis; not that there was a reason to "it won't do you good to ask to sit it out, but if you can relax before then... It'd be easier on your recovery." If she had it her way, any of the wounded would sit it out. But Sparrow wanted it to happen, and she was touched by the loyalty toward the Pirate King. Even if she had kidnapped someone, Sparrow was a good leader.

"I came here with a friend" Eden breezed by the explanation, finding the excuses easier than her reality "Ignis" She moved to apply more poultice to Pyralis "I assume all the other packs had lots of healers... I didn't want to be just another" But she did admit; she wanted to be special "I want to master healing, and if the Plunder is going to raid and get into trouble; it's more practice and more patients for me." Eden didn't want to admit it, but she had. She felt bad about it, but no going back now.

The poultice was already being applied, but for good measure, she added a bit more around the open wound. Applying it was easy, but she would wait to see if Pyralis would take the advice to heart or not. Eden really shouldn't care about the pirates, but she did. They were all special in their own way.

Pyralis chuckled. "At my age I could go without a moment's notice. I'd much rather it be on the battlefield." It might seem strange to some. Many wolves she'd met would've preferred to simply go quietly in their dens surrounded by family but in her warrior mindset she only wanted to go in the midst of battle.

Her ears perked up at the mention of Ignis. Ok, that name sounded familiar but where had she heard it before and whose face had it belonged to. "Oh! I know, that big red bloke." She snorted. "Well, he sure took his sweet ass time getting here." She remembered him from the party a long time back. He'd expressed interest in joining and then they hadn't heard from him in seasons, gosh had it even been years? With each passing day her sense of time seemed more and more distorted.

"Aye, you'll get plenty of practice here that's for sure."

"Yes, that's him" Finishing with the poultice, she squirreled some leftover herbs away for later. "I am not much of a fighter" Eden confessed, knowing most healers were not. It still didn't give her peace. Regret about missed opportunities and a lost force claim... It swirled in her mind. It threatened her sanity at times. "I learned that I won't ever be one." It was easy to see; she was too small to do much damage to another.

She finished putting everything away. "We all have our strengths" Eden continued quietly "you have fought for a long time, yes?" Pyralis spoke like an elder of battle, not one who just picked it up within a few years. She wondered how long the old woman had fought, and for what... It seemed unfair to ask her to put her all into the raid when she was old. Eden worried this... would be the last time she got to talk to the woman.

Pyralis snorted at Eden's words as the healer explained that she learned she'd never be a fighter. "What makes you say that? An unwillingness to do violence? It surely can't be your size or your skills. Healers can make some of the nastiest fighters, they know just what to rip and tear to make your body fail you." She looked to her shoulder. From her understanding Gossamer was a healer as well as a fighter and it showed in how she targeted limbs with the intention of causing crippling injury.

Well, at least the pirates had skilled healers now to counter some of the damage of battle. She nodded. "I've been fighting since I could walk. We had certain… expectations to meet." Those that didn't were culled from the litter.

Eden considered her words before admitting defeat. Perhaps there was no excuse. She always had others tell her she was useless as a fighter, even before Boreas... "If you have nothing to do, Pyralis" she began "when you come back from the raid" she placed her belongings to the side and focused on the Sin "I would... like you to teach me. A few defensive moves, if you like." She bowed her head, embarrassed by asking such a thing to a near stranger.

But Pyralis was no stranger. She was... a pack mate now. "My parents never tried to teach me. When I went to other lands, wolves laughed at me because of my size. They told me I was worthless, that I was always going to be weak" Eden confessed to the old woman "hardly anyone has harmed me in the past due to that; they either think there's no sport to it or just overlook me for a worthy foe" She gave a weary laugh "I've been lucky, but this place is different. I would like to at least learn how to defend myself."

Pyralis considered Eden's request for a moment. Truth be told she didn't really have anything too concerning to do. Drink, sleep, eat, brawl. Those were her goals til the day she died. She had done some teaching but that was ages ago when her own pups were very small. She'd never attempted to train an adult. Pyralis glanced to Alkali and the hawk nodded. "Alright then. A pirate should know how to at least participate in a hearty brawl. Find me after the raid and I can give you some pointers." She imagined she'd need to see Eden anyway for she'd never been in a raid where she didn't get some sort of injury.

"Thank you, Pyralis..." This means a lot to me! She wished to say it, but thought better. While the pirates were kind to her, she doubted they cared much about personal feelings. Much less her own. "You're free to go, by the way" Eden added, smiling "you're all done. Find me again if it starts to bother you, but you're good for now. Remember to rest when you can. You'll heal faster." And pirates who healed faster could participate in things faster!

She gathered her belongings again and shoved them gently in her satchel. "Good luck raiding" Have fun? Eden felt it was laughable to say that too "and, ah, bring me back a rock if you can." She added instead, her smile curling into a subtle smirk. Sparrow had been so hellbent on raiding for those rocks and other acceptable items. She wondered if anyone would bring her back something.
