They had made it to Boreas but Lucette would have been lying if she had any idea of where to look for her parents from there. It didn’t help that where they were was so cold either. The landscape before them was covered in a blanket of white, the warm spring weather she hoped for not reaching this area. Could this be the fabled North of Boreas her parents told her about? Well, she was supposed to be the navigator here… she’d better find out something about this land, right?
Through the falling flurries, Lucette could make out slate gray cliffs jutting out of the ground in the distance. The area was frozen over, the peaks capped heavily with the snow, and that alone caused Luce to feel a bit uneasy. She’d never been in an avalanche and she certainly didn’t want that change but… something about the twisting trail that loomed before her had her curious. Smaller slate-gray stones dotted the pathway and, truthfully, did little to suggest if the path they were on was safe. With the snow as well it was near impossible to see where the trail they were walking could give way to some sort of drop.
So rather than climb up… Lucette paused and glanced around, taking note of a trail that seemed to wind down towards frozen foliage. The smell of clean water was in the air too, though they weren’t close enough to see its source.
Drawing in a deep breath Lucette lifted his head and green gaze to her companion. “I’m not going to lie to you,” Because it was always a good sign when she started a sentence with that. “The way up looks like it’s gonna be pretty choppy. If we try it we could fall and shatter our bones. The way down looks a bit safer but we could still also fall, maybe land in some frozen branches. Possibly impaled. Either way, we risk becoming a bloodstain.” Lucette twitched her ears thoughtfully.
“So… Do you trust me?”

He had dutifully trailed after Lucette for a while now, how long he couldn't exactly remember, but long enough that he trusted her to get him where they needed to be. His pace was consistent with keeping pace with the much smaller female, something he purposely had to slow himself down to do, seeing as his legs were much longer than hers.
And thats just what brought him here, at this exact moment.
His blue and lilac hewn eyes were on her as she stopped and eyed the area. His rainbow skinned paws brought him to a stop behind her as he waited for her to either speak or resume her walk in these brisk lands. His mother had often spoken of Boreas and Auster, so he was of course excited to explore these lands with his best friend, but it was secretly so. He didn't want her to know how fucked up his family really was, nor how much danger just being with him probably put her in.
His face was set in a stern yet stoic expression of inner thought when Lucy finally opened her mouth and spoke. His eyes blinking quickly to catch her words and get him to recall himself from his past. His eyes looked from her smaller face to the path she was indicating. Hmmm, doable if he was careful. Her words of becoming a bloodstained making him chuckle with his deeper tones. Smooth honey dripping from his own maw in jest at her, "You act as if I'm not gonna just do it because you said its dangerous." a grin spread on his maw as he looked back at her.
A bound and he was leaping carefully onto the first place for a good foothold. A tilt of his head back to her and a slight cant as his jest continued to pour out. "So you want I should carry you up it, or you gonna just watch me down there?" He didn't need to tell her he trusted her, she knew the answer before she asked.

The chuckle from her dearest friend only caused Lucette to grin. Of course, she knew he’d do it anyway. They didn’t back down from things because of danger or because they seemed hard, now did they? She stuck her tongue out at him with a knowing look in her eyes as he bounded forward.
“You know I knew you’d do it anyway,” She teased. “Just as I knew the answer to my questions. We’ve been around each other long enough to know that it’s going to take more than potential threats to scare us off.” Her green gaze looked back towards the trail up the mountain. From what she could see at least it looked like it was going to be a hell of a climb. There were trees and other foliage dotting the area, things that became taller with age, and given that there was no way to know the age of each bit of flora in the area they were going in potentially blind. Ah, what the hell.
“The more reasonable path is definitely the one down there,” Her grin widened. “But since you’re so eager let's head up.” She leaped after him, her smaller legs and body requiring more than one bounce to clear the same amount of space. “You know I suck at waiting. I’ll get bored.” She looked back up at him again. “I’ll walk for now.” She paused and glanced down the path, towards the basin that was dipping in towards the earth.
“I wonder though… If we get to the top of these cliffs think we can get a good view of Boreas? Maybe we can figure out which way to head from there. Shame the pack mom was in got taken before she and dad left and had me… It’d be nice to have a clearer answer of where to go.” Her tone had become somber for a moment, her green eyes thoughtful. She loved being with Bae-Syl, and their adventures, but she did miss her folks from time to time.
Did they… miss her?
Shaking her head to clear her thoughts she took another leap forward and spun on her heels in the snow. Then, scooping up a pawful of snow, the yearling tossed it toward her bestie with a laugh. “Besides! You’d have to catch me if you wanted to carry me, Bae. That’s the easy way out! You know that's not acceptable.”

He smirked at her words as she worked harder than him to climb up onto the first foothold, a small laugh at the antic of her taking more than one jump to catch up to his perch. He did scoot over slightly to make room for her. His ear turned at the sound of rocks scattering under him. This would be easier on his longer legs but his weight might cause some of the masonry to shift or fall. Lucette had that advantage over him.
They had known each other long enough they had a pretty good understanding of each other. That much she was definitely right about. She should of known that it wouldn't take much to goad the man into doing something, or just getting him to try something. He wasn't exactly in the business of saying no without doing something once in his life for himself. It was his business to experience life for himself, even if that life ended up killing him.
His grin grew wider as she made mention of maybe getting a good view of Boreas, "Well we wont know unless we go now will we?" Then his face dropped. The mention of her parents had him remembering their time was probably shortened when they found her folks. He'd be off to discover the world more and she would be caught up catching up time with them. He'd miss his partner in crime.
He shook his head to clear the depressing thought from his head. his paws starting him forward and up the path. His head reeling back as the snow thrown at him just missed his head and hit him on his chest. Eyes going to Luce as she spoke and the snow hit him. They narrowed, now she was just trying to challenge him. "Careful what you ask for Lucy, you just might get it."
-----------Spar starts here-----------
His grin spread into what could of been mistaken for a menacing smirk if one didn't know him better as he set his ears back and crouched before quickly lunging for her. He aimed to grab hold of her by her nap like a mother would a pup. No real malice was behind his movement but she had decided to goad him and now she was gonna get it on this uneven terrain. He didn't even bother setting defenses, this wasn't exactly a fight he needed them for. He aimed to use his much taller frame to be over her without much touching and only the front half of his body over her. of course to prying eyes this might look like something completely different but Luce knew what she had asked for. He might have to try to catch her but in his head the results would have her pouting and him victorious. Come to think of it, he wasn't even sure she had been taught basic self defense. Maybe he needed to tutor her on that later.
His ears went back and his lips pulled back barely enough to be called a snarl but he wasn't aiming to harm her. Front legs only splayed slightly to allow for if his lunge ended up working, but his back legs were squared with his hips when he landed so as he couldn't be unbalanced easily.

The girl might have attempted to aim high but the snow she tossed only ended up hitting Bae-Syl in the chest. It still hit him though so that was a plus! Lucette grinned but even she didn’t fully expect what would happen next. Bae-Syl’s eyes narrowed, a smirk appearing on his face as he told her to be careful what she asked for. Lucette wasn’t exactly one for fighting, not that Bae-Syl would ever actually hurt her, but she wouldn’t back down from a challenge either. She gave a “come and get me” grin and let her ears fall back just in time for Bae-Syl to lunge.
To someone who didn’t know them, the scene might have seemed malicious - Lucy knew better. She had pushed Bae-Syl a bit, and he did have the right to playfully fight back, didn’t he?
So she’d never been taught jack diddly about fighting, but she’d watched her mother “practice” stuff with her father so that was something, right? Except her dad ended up pinned under the wolfess every time. Well, that might be a problem.
Lucette dove forward, aiming to keep her body low and slip between Bae-Syl’s front legs as his head came down. She wasn’t looking to unbalance him - in fact getting tangled up in his legs sounded like a horrible way to get him to sit on her. Instead, she tried to pivot just as her front half got past his forelimbs, in hopes that she’d be able to scoot under and around him.
Which probably might have worked if she dipped just a tad lower.
Bae-Syl’s jaws grabbed her a few inches above the base of her tail, which had been flying outward behind her to aid in balance. With a startled squeak her darting came to a stop and she had to splay her limbs outward to catch herself from falling on the snow. Her immediate reaction was to twist inward now, back to Bae-Syl’s left foreleg, in an attempt to bite at the limb since she wouldn’t be able to get to his muzzle.
Stupid being taller than her… If she got loose she was going to make him eat so much snow!

His eyes watched as she lunged and his bite landed on her back. Well it wasn't what he had intended but he wasn't about to let go yet. No instead his lips would pull in a devious grin as she went under him. He attempted to off balance her by attempting to push his chest towards the ground and to the left, his his right foreleg coming up just as her teeth dug into his left. His left leg attempted to pull up her back left hock without him loosening his grip on her.
If he succeed they would both be on the ground in a heap, hopefully with him victorious. Obviously he still held no malice for her, as a chuckle came out of his chest. His back legs folded as he aimed to put them both on equal ground and in the snow. If she wasn't quick to move her head he might just end up sitting on her head with his chest.
Only his ears were pinned to keep them from being tattered but otherwise this fight was nothing serious to him so he didn't need as many defenses. He was right though by her movements she needed a few lessons.

So her newest position wasn’t the most ideal either but hell, Lucette was trying and Bae-Syl was practically a mountain. Her tiny body was starting to slip, especially as Bae began to seemingly push and pull at her from alternate angles. She bit a bit harder - she would have never wanted to hurt him, but reflex and instinct caused her to go a little farther than she meant to as she went down. The shift in angle as they both went down, him practically on top of her, caused the little she-wolf to give a small growl. She had always been sensitive about her size, but right now she was cursing her idea to try and get under him. “Ooffffff!” She barked, nipping back at his leg as she struggled beneath him. Was he really going to carry her up this path? Oh, was he in for a big ol’ pout from her if he didn’t relent and let her go!

She bit into his leg harder and he yelped as she broke the skin, little droplets of blood starting to slink out. It was nothing major but that didn't mean he didn't get surprised by it all the same. It caused him to also let go of her but he was already basically laying on top of her. "Okay, Okay! Luce let go, you win!" He would attempt to get off her as soon as she let go then. A wince at the slight sting as he used his left left now. He looked down at the bite, it wouldn't scar and was barely punctured but the placement was what made it sting. His eyes passed back to Luce as he shook his pelt out. Okay so she was walking on her own, as he said she won, barely. His paws moved away from her and he bounded up the next spot to get up. A smirk down at Luce as his long legs made it easy and he knew her shorter wouldn't make it easy for her. "We gotta work on your defenses, and your form. Getting under me wasn't your best option." He gave a chuckle at it. She may of won but that didn't mean she was perfect. He would have to give her some lessons later. As soon as she joined him on the spot he had jumped to he bounded off and up to another ledge. If she wanted to climb it on her own he was gonna let her. She could struggle up the whole way. He grinned back at her. It was one of those grins like he knew he was up to no good, but he didn't care. Walk, "talk", Think |

He relented, giving her the victory though he was basically laying on top of her already. She released, a bit surprised at her own ferocity. She had broken skin, and she made a face at the taste of Bae-Syl’s blood in her mouth. She never really did care for the taste of blood. It was metallic and gross. Only once he had gotten up, separating their forms, did she get back to her paws. It had been an unexpected little spat but Lucy was glad that she had won. Her ears perked forward and she looked to him as he spoke before sticking her tongue out at his words. “No kidding. You’re too big! You could have squished me.” She was teasing him, not bothered at all by the fact that she’d need to work on learning to fight more efficiently. Instead, she was making her way up the path through the snow, taking the path that took more effort but she was definitely stubborn about it. She didn’t want to be carried around like some pampered pup. She was a young lady thank you very much! She got to the section Bae bounded up and started to climb, grunting a bit as she had to haul herself up. It took her a moment but she made it, huffing and puffing as she looked around them again. From the current ledge, as she looked up and out over the basin, she could see the top of the waterfall now as it cascaded over the rocks and down towards the lake it had formed within the basin. Her tail wagged behind her before she stepped up next to Bae-Syl. “It’s pretty, isn’t it Bae?” She was panting a little but didn’t seem to mind. “I’m glad we’re here.” She had missed the troublesome grin for the moment, not that she would have minded either way. She just enjoyed spending time with Bae, even if they could tease the heck out of each other with their antics. -------- Navigation {Waterfall Peak} - 3 / 3 "Talk", 'Think.' |
