One step in the right direction
Recluse
The weather was finally warming up, winter's grip was gone. Recluse had her litter and they were exploring the pack lands and growing at a rapid rate. He remembered.... he remembered when Kali had been tiny. He'd barely interacted with her then but she reminded him of her mother. Kali's loss had hit them hard and now more than ever Recluse had not been given a chance to grieve properly. What with her worry of her little ones. Eraithus sighed as he shuffled at the front of the den he wanted to DO something for her. It wasn't as if he was an all powerful being his feelings for her were strong but so was grief. A child shoulder never die before their parent. the words his brother had said once rattled in his brain. He didn't think losing Kali would trek up his old feelings for his siblings that he missed so much. This wasn't about him, so what did he do, what he knew to do best.
The romantic had set up their den in such a matter, dozens of shiny blue stones and pink gems scattered about their den. A few petals from a sakura he had found while out. Admist it all was a piece of prey - half of a deer that he'd shared with the pack. A nice dinner maybe would at least make Recluse feel at ease? It was already dark, Kespie was out keeping an eye on the pups among whoever else had been designated to protect them. Eraithus wanted to show Recluse that he was here for her. No matter how many or how little tears she shed. He wanted her to be aware that he was her rock, when she felt like she was drifting out to sea.

Galho was watching the little ones as Recluse did a patrol, it was important for her to get back into the swing of properly managing her duties, it helped to bring some normalcy back into her life but more than that it was important because it meant she wasn't losing her hold on her duties as an alpha. It grounded her in that assurance. She'd been making her way around the base of the volcano when she'd caught her husband's scent, he'd been moving around higher up the mountain and curiosity flared up in Recluse. She finished her patrol quickly before moving back towards the volcano, taking the time to catch his scent and letting it lead her towards the den they shared. She noted that none of the kids were around right now and the woman approached the mouth of the cave in the stone. ”Eraithus?” She asked, peeking inside the den and waiting for her eyes to adjust to the dimness within. ”Speech” ’Thought’ |
Just in time. Eraithus ears perked when he saw her shape. His tail wagged as a smile sparked on his face. He couldn't help it when he saw her. Yet he stepped forward trying to let her eyes adjust as the glow of the room illuminated the walls in colors of pink and blue from the stones and gems. "My love." Eraithus started gently as he leaned forward. Wanting to press his nose into the side of her neck, wanting to feel her warmth on him. "I caught us some dinner." he turned to let her see the deer. "I thought what with your duties and everything else. This was the only quiet moment I got to get you alone. So you can take a break and enjoy yourself." if she didn't rest. Who would the pack have to rely on. Habari was strong but they were very dependent on their alpha. As most packs were at least. Would he be able to step up if Habari needed it. Well that didn't matter right now all he cared about was getting Recluse to actually relax.
"I spent all day setting these out." he walked across the floor, poking at a blue shiny pebble shining against the wall. Did she like them or did they bring up bad memories. He cursed at himself for not thinking about that.

Recluse's breath caught in her throat as the sight her husband had prepared for her and despite herself, she felt her eyes begin to well up, her gaze sliding to Eraithus and giving him a smile that was one part the grief she'd yet to shirk and two parts genuine love and joy. Eraithus' reaching was met with her quickly stepping in to accept his embrace, her neck craning to wrap over his and she let lose a sigh that spoke to all the stress she'd been carrying, her comfort with her husband clear as she let herself relax in his arms. He spoke and Recluse felt herself tear up again and she sought to push her face into his fur for a moment before they broke apart. What had she done to deserve him? Eraithus moved away, kicking at the rock and Recluse couldn't help but chuckle. ”It's lovely.” She said softly, finding her breath was escaping her. She moved over to the meal and looked up at him, gesturing for him to join her as she settled down. ”Have I told you I love you?” She asked teasingly, she tried to say it whenever she could but damn did he ever keep proving to her that he was better than she really deserved. ”Speech” ’Thought’ |
He was glad to see his crisis had been averted. She settled down towards the meal and he was right by her side. Eraithus didn't know how, but he would never stop thinking that she was breathtakingly beautiful. It made him want to work hard and perhaps it was just family honor but he was proud of his involvement in Recluse's life. They shared many things and they both kept their individuality close to their hearts. To see her thrive was to see him thrive and that much in itself was something he could be proud of. He chuckled to her words, lowering his head down close to the deer. "Mr.deer did you know that my Wife is the most beautiful woman I've ever met?" he winked before he could resist taking a bite. His stomach rumbled, he'd waited all day for this meal.
"I love you Recluse and you say it without any words all the time." his tail flicked the crooked end hanging off to one angle. "If you want, you can tell me how your day was or anything that's on your mind." he shrugged. He couldn't promise he was the best at giving advice but he heard talking about one's feelings with a loved one could relieve the mind of unwanted thoughts and emotions. Eraithus wasn't an expert on it.
