Hard headed. That’s what this male was.

Khranbari couldn’t stand remaining stagnant with absolutely nothing to do. Winter was gone and Spring had arrived. The storages needed to be refilled. A scent of fresh prey clung heavily to the newly warm air. Nose pointed to the sky in a sharp intake of breath. Its presence quite overwhelming; yet, shot a burst of adrenaline through his veins. He was ready for the hunt to come. Especially this one.

Ears could hear the calls of migrating elk returning from the mountains. With grass sprouting effortlessly around the south, he’d traveled a ways away from Valta lands to follow their paths. It didn’t take long to catch up with them. Their light brown coats glistening under the sun. Who’s rays shown bright. Nearly blinding to the point where he could not help but pant against its hard gaze.

This not deter him from the task at hand. Fore in front of the entire herd stood a large male bull. Clearly in his prime as he sported muscles that pulled taunt against his skin. Large, sharp tipped antlers sitting perfectly atop of his head. Not a single scratch or mark on them visible. Khranbari smirked at the opportunity to take down such a prize.

His monochromatic coat easily hidden amongst the shadowed forest. Boarding the open space ahead of him. He had not yet been spotted. Thankfully his scent wafted in another direction. Instead of t’wards the herd grazing comfortably. Unknowing of the danger that lurked in the darkness.

The old man made his way toward the warmer lands of Boreas. He was still unaccustomed to the near night and day difference when the seasons changed. Where Auster was turning into its cold seasons, Boreas was warming up once again. He stalked the prairie lands, the strong scent of elk on the wind. He assumed they were in the midst of their migrations, or maybe they had just finished migrating...he wasn't sure. He was used to Auster's seasons and the prey migration patterns there after living there for so long. Ears perked up when he heard the crack of antler against antler as a couple of the bull elk fought. The stomping of uneasy hooves and restless energy. His ears perked as he listened, hardened blue gaze watching through the grasses as he considered hunting one. Though he was alone. He was practically ancient at this point. And even if he was young, he knew he wouldn't be able to take one down on his own without injury, or worse.

He focused on the scents around him. Trying to pick out any that might be sick or festering with infection from an injury. What he found instead was the scent of another wolf. A pack wolf at that. From a pack he had no knowledge about. Whether or not Hallows was an ally to them was unknown to him, but regardless, it would do well to have another set of paws if he wanted to bring any of those elk down. He circled around, following the scent of the stranger as he made a wide berth around the elk so as not to alert them to his presence. He was calculated and quiet with his steps, using his keen senses to locate the other party. And soon enough, he found him lurking in the grass. "Hey!" He called out in a low voice, "Are you wanting to hunt one of those, too?"

Time ticked by in seconds. Slowly passing by as he observed the herd. Two young bull elks had chosen to begin fighting. A gathering of females nearby eyes observing while chewing on close berry bushes. Had he been smart he’d have chosen them instead. They were fast; however, not much of a challenge for the large male. Not like the lead Bull whose ears were high on alert. Their senses telling them that something wasn't right. But not yet making a move to flee. It was quite interesting to watch.

Khranbari lay down for a moment. Easing down to not make his location known. He needed to think. To plan out how to take down such a massive obstacle. Knowledge told him that doing so alone meant severe injuries or worse… death. Calling out would only make things worse. It would spook the herd and turn this entire situation pointless. A frustrated sigh flared his nostrils and before he could give up, another’s scent drifted t’wards him.

Liquid golden eyes casted their attention onto the black and white male. He looked far older than Khran ever was. Though the looks of him showed years of maturity and wisdom. So when the male spoke, the Valta Raita raised a brow. Then gave a simple nod in response. Perhaps with this new addition around now he could get on with the hunt. Split the food or throw him a leg or two.

"The lead male. Are you up for it?" He spoke in a low, whispering tone. It’s volume so quiet that one would have to be shoulder to shoulder to hear him. Khranbari was not taking any chances at losing his prize. He’d waited out here too long for the opportunity to have it messed up so quickly. Shuffling snatched away his attention. The herd was beginning to move. Their leader ready to find continue on their migration. If they were headed to the nearby river, both males may have an advantage.

Khranbari gave a signal for him to follow. Quietly rising onto his paws to stealthily maneuver along side of the elk. He knew he needed to get a bit closer to the front in order to launch the attack. They didn’t move far, unexpectedly. Only having walked to where the berry bushes were far more plentiful. "Are you able to take position in the front of them without getting trampled?" His plan was to scatter them. A distraction to encourage the lead male bull elk to defend his group of females and young males.

Only then… would the hunt begin.
