She watched as others were taken, twin peaks swivel back against her skull as the sound of bone breaking sounds out, then another, a wolf she never known throwing himself off the cliffs edge, the creature sends peices of Ghoul around. Soon she felt that of blood start dripping down over her facial features, right above her right eye. Pain seered threw her. Confusion played within her mind. Thinking that she seen her family standing beside her, fighting to protect those around the lands.

The attacks keep going. Halas lips curl up, revealing her teeth, her body tense but also relaxed in a sense. She had to think this threw, something so vile and dangerous was threatening all of Boreas it seemed. Worms appearing everywhere, every corner of Boreas. Maybe the wolves had brought it upon themselves. Soon others were taken, lifeless before the worm began to feast upon three others whom were dead.

Throwing her head up with a long sharp howl, Hala would look to the others, before speaking out. "Look! If we can get to it's underside and possibly tear it's arms and limbs off!" It was an idea that they could try to work with. It was a threat that needed to come to a end. Hala known this even if the others did not want to realize it. "Or fire! We need fire!" The dark mocha woman yelled to the remaining wolves. They'd have to work quickly though.

Seere stands at the edge of the cliffside, gazing imploringly at the putrid creature as other wolves appear some on the same level, some on beach and some even begin to attack. The small woman that is on top of the cliff with her has her leg broken when the beast hurls whatever she had thrown at it back to her and nausea rolls through her gut as her mismatched gaze flick over the stranger, readying to move and offer her some help… when suddenly, everything changes.

The pink male had been poised to strike, his muscles coiled and, in one explosive motion, it is released and he is sailing through the air, framed in the moonlight for one terrifying moment as if he is some vengeful spirit given wings. The beast moves, lunging forward and grabbing the doomed man from the air as a child might pluck a feather that twirls slowly to the ground. With a sickening crunch, its jaws snap shut and it shakes its head, spraying blood and viscera over the gathered wolves.

A paw lands in front of her and Seere back peddles hard, eyes filling with tears as her heart thunders her chest and a droning sound drowns out all voices. It writhes, hurting some and killing others and a scream born of anger, helplessness, and utter disbelief rips its way loose from her throat. The metallic tang of blood fills the air, coats her throat, chokes her breath and the small healer stumbles sideways, watching as the one stranger quickly sets her broken leg.

Help. She has to help.

Calmness washes through her and she steps toward the injured woman, rummaging through her pack to pull a small bundle of herbs out and passes them to the lady while saying, “For the pain.” Her voice is stiff, eyes wide with horror but there is determination burning brightly behind her gaze. With that done, she turns and races to the wolf who has a dislocated shoulder and hurriedly says, “I’m a healer. Let me help you get that back into place.”

As she unshoulders her pack, Seere turns and yells to all the gathered wolves both above and below, “All those that have been injured, come to me! I will get you back in fighting shape!” There is a boldness in her voice, a promise of help and a glimmer of hope as begins to set about her trade, pulling pain killing herbs from her bag while turning her gaze to the stranger and gently saying, “Here, these will help with the pain. I can pop the joint back in but it will be painful.” A sad, sorrowful smile ticks at her lips and waits, ready to help the stranger if they will allow it.

what i wouldn't give to be in church this sunday
listening to the choir, so heartfelt, all singing

Everything happened so quickly she hardly had time to make sense of it. First, a pale stranger was torn limb from limb, and she felt her mouth go dry. "Jay - " she asserted, with every ounce of authority she possessed as a mother and former alpha, "Turn away! Don't you dare look." It was all she could do to protect her. Theory was old now, and she'd never been a fighter unless there was something to fight for. She had her children to think of now - they needed her alive more than they needed her cooling corpse left by the shoreline. All she could do was command her and hope she would listen.

Corvus' daughter, blood of her blood, and one of the few tenuous threads she still had to Abaven through her father. As Theory's gaze burned into Jay's, waiting to see her avert her eyes as rocks and debris rained down from the cliffs behind them, it struck her just how much she looked like her father.

Distant shouts and screams sounded, wrenching her eyes away from Jay and back towards the chaos. Please don't look. Please don't look, sweet girl. She had never before felt so weak and small. Every white hair on her muzzle, every ache in her bones was highlighted in technicolor. Powerless. She was powerless before this creature. Theory closed her eyes and prayed.

Abraxas, please. Watch over me, my children and my love. Please carry us through this. Please protect us. Please guide us.

Then the many legged abomination slammed into the earth, crushing Corvus beneath it, with all the same effort she'd use to idly brush aside a fly. Still, she hoped beyond reason that perhaps he'd dealt a killing blow and might emerge from beneath it victorious. When the creature (the being? The demon? It defied all logic and reason) rose, it tore into its prey with the same gnashing grace of a scavenger. Bloody rips and tears. The surrounding attackers seemed to fade away as she was unable to tear her gaze away from her brave cousin made carrion. All she could hear was the disgusting noise of it all, even this far down the shore.

Her children were home safe. Thalia was waiting for her. Even as bile rose in her throat and tears pricked at her eyes until they burned like coals, she held that knowledge close to her heart. "We need to get out of here, we need to - please, Jay - GO! We need to GO!" She hissed, dragging her away by force if necessary as she left the shore line and her cousin's bones behind. Eastern Boreas would forever hold her most painful memories, the grand museum of her life's failures. This was just another exhibit added to its halls.

"theory speaks!"
god loves you, but not enough to save you
so, baby girl, good luck taking care of yourself

His ears flicked at a voice calling from below. Screams, someone attacking but Nelu remained focused on the worm, prepared for its response. His brother pulled up beside him but he did not spar the boy a glance. "Perhaps not, but I wish to eliminate the possibility. A few words cost little to test." He'd barely finished speaking when a woman raced past to engage in the fight, followed by others and the beast responded with attack. The great worm flung the offering back at the marbled woman with such force he swore he heard bones crack. "Impressive... Battle it is then, brother!"

Nelu darted to the side, defenses flying into place as he readied to retaliate, scanning the creature for any opening. He wished now he had a sword like his father. Perhaps he had spent too much time refining his pottery and crafts rather than on his metal work. There was naught that could be done for it now. Blood and bone was what this battle would demand and blood and bone is what he would give.

The creature's foul head descended, making a meal out of one wolf before savaging another. He scrambled back as its body crashed into the cliffside, sending boulders flying and rocks cascading down. The worms body crushed more under itself. He felt a pang of emotion he didn't recognize but it was not enough to alter his course of action. For as the worm turned its attention to feasting upon the wolves it had slain Nelu attacked.

He moved swiftly and as quietly as he could, charging perpendicular to the right side of its face. Nelu aimed to run as fast as he could, fangs bared as he attempted to bite into, what appeared to be, one of its big glossy eyes, seeking to puncture the beast's eye and partially destroy its sight.

z e p h yr o s

it seems no one listened, and it warranted a snarl from zephyros who watched them all run like headless chickens. the commotion must've angered it! from behind, the creature wove and attacked others before finally coming to shatter zephyros' foot into bits. instinctively, zephyros reacted- teeth aiming to meet the creature's right side that was nearest. after he's exhausted his limb, he bellowed a hoarse cry of pain leaving his maw as he move to the side, attempting to walk away. yet he only falls over, unable to walk too much. he glanced and began to assess his leg then- flattening his ears as he looked with wide eyes at the scene that unfolded. wolves perished just like that as the worm feasted. narrowing his eyes, zeph looked then at the healer calling out for others to come receive help. pride aside, zeph called out with a yelp, pointing to his broken foot that dangled graphically. "I cannot place weight on it. Please-." he choked, holding back whines. "I- I think I need my brother." he gasped, looking back down at the limp limb for a moment, completely dazed and in shock.

Vendrick brightens up as Morganna joins them, bristly as she is, he's glad to see her. Relief washing over his system, like it's some small comfort in the storm. Leaning toward her, edging slightly in front. Would he be much help? Realistically, probably not.

When the beast does strike, Vendrick is staggered by the violence of it all. All the lighthearted nature draining from the boy, his stomach churning. A blow to Morganna as well, and he moves without a second thought. Reaching for her, trying to steady the girl, openly hissing at the healer girl that comes near. "I have her injuries under control." The words come sharply, a backwards way to arrive at help the others. The subtext, the don't touch her of it all is clear. Embarrassing himself for a moment, though this is also a better use of his talents. Carefully setting up to help Morganna snap the shoulder back to its socket.

"Mind your head," his call to Nelu is sharp, gaze snapping up as his brother tears off. Worry shining in his expression, the poet boy can feel the tug. Three wolves had been shredded around them already, Vendrick feared he'd lose his brother too. Torn for a breath, though the boy is hellbent on being the one to treat Morganna. The thought of leaving his only friendly face in the chaos unthinkable.

Maki yanked back, pulling off a squirming leg that she quickly tossed aside with an alarmed eep when it tried to grab at her face. Call her stupid, but she felt oddly...proud, she'd helped and hurt the beast and- that pride was smushed, quite literally, as three wolves were killed in one fell swoop. No time to scream, just a slam so fierce it nearly made Maki lose her balance and tumble off the cliff side. She scrambled back, peddling away from the edge as her mismatched eyes darted around, not sure where to look, let alone what to do.

If she had taken one leg, what about another? She gritted her teeth, maybe that was what they needed to do, tear the thing apart. For those who had died.

Speech // thought

She had to admit she was getting a little nervous wandering away this far from "home". She didn't intend to but once she got the taste of freedom she just got caught up in the wonders of travel! She'll head back home soo-

The FUCK was THAT?
She rounded the corner of the cliffs and suddenly her vision was FULL of blue and green and STRANGE. The smell was something else altogether and it hit her like a brick wall sending her scrambling backward. Wolves were trying to attack it! Ya know... If she came home with a wild story of how she helped beat a massive beast like this?? She'd have to take something of it home to prove it though... Her brother would never believe her but if there were others to witness it? Hell yeah!

She lowered her head and dug her claws into the sand. She pinned her ears to her skull as she launched forward into the extremely nasty-smelling body of the beast. She aimed for the pretty shell along its back, close to the shore on the right side of its stinky body. Maybe she can pry off one of the sections!

Well...he had witnessed his first death. The beast ate someone. A stranger. Perhaps it wouldn't have been so bad if he had been swallowed whole, but his ears flattened against the sickening sound of bones crunching. Strange when it was a wolf...he never really considered this was what it might be like for the prey he hunted. He winced as body parts flew, but he didn't have long to linger and process all of that as it suddenly crashed violently against the cliff side. Luckily, his barking at least helped to distract it for a few moments while the others assaulted it, but it was short lived and it resumed its own assault, its piercing shriek causing him to flatten his ears and almost want to run. But he steeled himself instead despite the chaos happening. At least one of the wolves had managed to tear its leg off!

But...in that process...it had also killed three more strangers. Fuck! Of course he returns to the lands and comes face to face with this shit! It would be his luck! Not only did it flatten those wolves...it began to eat them! What the fuck!?

He stood there for a few heartbeats as time both seemed to slow down and speed up at the same time. They were too panicked. Too scattered. The chaos too much for many to handle. Wolves had already died. And in the chaos of it all, barely a pawful of them seemed to try and deter the worm with attacks of their own. While he didn't know any of these strangers, he was involved now and it was do or die. Fleeing wasn't an option for him. He wasn't a coward. Maybe foolish for staying and fighting...but there was no way in hell he was going to run!

As a couple others went for the worm while it feasted, Draven followed suit and raced in, aiming to attack the other side and one of its many eyeballs in an effort to shred and tear away at what he could. Maybe blinding it or tearing away its limbs would weaken it, though now that he was up close and personal, the putrid stench was almost unbearable...
