So I've been thinking about a system to add some realism into play.

We would roll a die to determine if a pack or one of the rogue lands has a random event.

If we roll an EVEN ? a pack will face the random event.
If we roll an ODD ? a rogue land will face the random event.

If a pack must face the random event?

1 ? Valhalla is chosen.
2 ? Glaciem is chosen.
3 ? Tortuga is chosen.
4 ? Lentajin is chosen.
5 ? Seracia is chosen.
6 ? Ludicael is chosen

If a rogue land must face the random event?

We will use a random number generator to determine which land faces the event.

Once the subject of the event is chosen, we must then roll to determine the NATURE of the event.

EVEN ? Postive
ODD ? Negative

These events would be season-wide and would be concentrated to that specific area, either pack or rogue land. All wolves in that pack, or present in the area at the time of the event would be required to face the event, and could not avoid it. This is for realism sake. You can't protect your wolf from everything.

Also, I am looking for interesting ideas for the positive and negative events, so if you have ideas that are plausible for either a pack or a loner land, please post them here.

Comments, criticisms, and critiques are always welcome :3

LET'S DISCUSS HOW THE ODDS TURNED OUT PERFECTLY TO GIVE THE NEWEST PACK A NEGATIVE EFFECT

nah i secretly love it. cx

crawl. crawl more. drag your hands and knees across the destruction left in my wake to the ends of the earth. there's a green light of a shining star in my sky and there will not be an obstacle i will not overcome until i cup that star in my palms. the void in my will has been filled with purpose. so crawl. crawl more, love.
because i like it when you're on your knees.

Hmm... random event ideas...
Is this too horrible?

A pack of gibberish-speaking NPC cultist wolves harass the pack, or set up strange rituals in that free land. They are hostile to other wolves and their motives are unclear, but when they set their sights on claiming a packland, they fight with no regard for their own lives.

Maybe? I'll think up others too.

Fray, when I read that I totally got the vision of the wolf version of suicide bombers.

Idk why. XD

Now a positive (ish) one:

There is an old, feeble wolf that occasionally appears in Alacritis, rumored to have the abilities of a seer. She will give you a reading of your future, but at the cost of a meal, hunted by yourself. Who knows if her visions are true or not? Either way, when a wolf spots her most recent resting place, news spreads, and the young and superstitious make the journey to have their fortune told.

Maybe she tells riddles? Too cliche?

Also: I kinda think events shouldn't be required, but maybe make threads that heavily involve the event give bonus gemstones.

I don't think extra gems should be given, and I don't think it should be mandatory. xD just a little chance for a bit of a plot is all :p

I wouldn't be upset if they weren't mandatory, but I feel like people will ignore them if there's not some incentive for them to be a part of it. (either gems or having them be mandatory)

I agree with Maverick - I'd worry about no one acknowledging them and wasting a neat plot item... because some people won't put their character in harm's way if they have a choice. So I think either an incentive (whether it's extra gems or something else) would be a good idea if they weren't mandatory.

I've also seen this sort of system used to affect individuals, which was neat - they were optional so you didn't have to do them if you were tagged that week/month but if you did you'd get extra points or something. xD Do you think something like that could be implemented also, or would it be too much work? (It would affect a random wolf or set of wolves each week).

The idea of gibberish-speaking wolves reminds me of Katheryn Lasky's (or however her name's spelled) wolf series... (great series).

So here's an idea, not necessarily involving an NPC:
- an unusually large amount of rain causes a mudslide somewhere.
