Hati

Much of the land was blanketed in a sweltering heat wave. For a heavy-coated black wolf, it was practically a death sentence. But beneath the ground, a constant temperature is maintained. Shaded, cool, and partly filled with water left over from tides, this short cave system currently housed the glowering dark form of Hati, all but healed now with barely a hint of stiffness to mark where the infection had raged not long hence. He was stretched out half in, half out of a pool of water, golden eyes glaring into the darkness as he chewed over restlessly unhappy thoughts.

Anger bubbled beneath his skin like an itch he could not be rid of, exacerbated by the unreasonable heat outside his oasis. It was the memory of the memory of his recent loss, of lying, broken and ill, to be mauled about by the healer while his brothers watched so placidly, that he gnawed at like an old bone. The way his brothers had helped him, had pitied him, like he wasn't the monster they all knew he was. Rather than being a comfort it was wildly infuriating, that they would even consider him to be safe, to be... Something he was not. Something good, or at least not so bad.

Well, they were wrong. All of them - Thor, Loki, Baldur, his sisters (though his mind shied away from Akemi), the damnable old fool healer. He was not safe and he was no longer broken. He did not need them.

His lips peeled back to bare his fangs in a vicious snarl. Woe betide any of his family were they to have been foolish enough to follow him here, or anyone else for that matter. He was not in a tolerant mood this time.

The oddly marked woman would find herself caught in the heat of the blistering summer. Her slate colored paws would carry the over heated woman towards the ocean. She needed a dip in the water, otherwise it didn't look like she would make it through the day with out heat stroke. She would follow her nose to the beach, the salty air beckoning her forward. She craved the feel of the cool water as her tongue fell from her mouth, failing to cool her down as much as was needed. As her orchid gaze would finally set on the ocean's mighty waves she would be caught of guard by the violent sound of a snarl. Startled she would leap a few feet back, but before she could make anything out the ground underneath her crumbled.

Twig's form would be sucked into the earth, she would crumple onto the cave's floor only a meter or so away from the dark furred male. She was fully stunned, but as she grew more conscious she realized all was not right. She knew she had hit her head rather hard, but in addition to such injury she could feel the pain swell into her newly healed ankle. A pained moan would slip from her delicate lips as she would attempt to push herself up. Only inches would separate her and the floor before she became too dizzy to continue. It seemed she would be staying on the ground, but what kind of shape she would be in shortly was up to the stranger she had fell before. Whimpering ever so softly she would only hope it had not been he who had uttered the snarl that had landed her there in the first place. Fear would grip her heart as her helpless form lay still.?

Hati

The ceiling crumbled in one spot, depositing a feminine form into the cave nearby. The sudden movement had Hati leaping to his feet, bristling pelt even spikier than usual from the water, bht the unexpectedness of the female's appearance held him momentarily in stunned silence.

When he found his voice once more it was to give vent to a wordless snarl as he lunged out of the water toward her. Jaws parted to stop mere inches from her face, fangs hovering menacingly close. His hot breath puffed against her as a dry, humorless, and short laugh rasped from his throat. This, he hissed, This is just the universe's way of giving me a big, fat, 'fuck you, Hati', isnt it? Well, screw that, pretty little girl. I'm not playing knight in shining armor to your damsel in distress. Clacking his jaws shut, he turned and stalked back to his pool of water and flopped in it, glowering at the injured girl disdainfully.

It was easy enough to let the nagging voice of guilt be buried in the tumultous heat of that ever-present anger. If she hadn't been prepared for the risks, she houldnt have been travelling alone. Simple as that. He wasn't her wet nurse to lick her wounds just because she fell down.

The heat was blistering, burning and yet the young silver girl was not too bad off. Others were hiding from the sun, resting is the coolest place they could find. But Angel was not. Happily she pranced about in the heat. Thing is she had learned long ago that you could chew certain plants for the juices inside to quench your thirst. So she went about her day exploring. But Twig's scent had her on alert. What was her sister doing out in the heat? Concern creased her brows as she went to track her down. With her sister having more darker color than she, surely the heat was getting to her. Unless Twig knew she could chew on plants too.

She could see her older sister in the distance, a wavy image from the heat waves. The sudden rumble of the earth sucked her sister down below. Angel had crouched down, alarmed and frozen. A few heartbeat went by before she realized Twig hadn't come back up from the earth. She barked out a soft alarm before racing over to the hole. Once there she slowly approached and circled it till her eyes could adjust to seeing what was down below. She was careful to make sure if she stood at the edge the earth wouldn't give even under her feather like weight. It was then she heard the menacing words spoke to her sister. Hackles raised along her back but more in fear for her sister. She paced around the edge, tail lashing out. Why wasn't Twig defending herself? She must be hurt. She swallowed the lump in her throat before her voice called down. I'm coming down Twig, don't move! Her voice trembled a little but more out of concern for her sister. Body moved from one end of the hole to the other and back before she could see where she could land safely down below. Lowering in a crouch she slide and jumped down into the little cave below, landing to the left of her sister. She grunted as she landed and spun to eye the dark male in her sister's face. Very uncharacteristic of her she let forth a deep rumbling growl as she rushed forwards to stand protectively over her sister. Jaws snapped at the male repeatedly in a warning. She was acting more out of fear the rage as her tail tucked in under her and ears pinned back.

She could do little more than flop uselessly on the ground, her head repeating the action to try and see who she had fallen before. Her vision was hazy, she could scarcely comprehend what was before her, however she could see the sudden appearance of the dark male. Teeth were suddenly in her face and fear would resonate within her whole being, sound was lost to her as she could only hear a ringing. Suddenly he would back away, leaving her to recover as best she could on her own. She would not beg for help, but her whimpers were involuntary. The young Twig was very much completely at a loss to where she was and much less what was happening. Only that she could hardly see the male anymore and that something seemed incredibly wrong.
Suddenly her sister was standing over her, the white girl would lesson the fear that would ebb within her. She still would panic, as the damage done to her body was still unknown. She still could not stand an her hearing was all but nonexistent. Her whimpering would continue as she swam desperately for control of her pained ?body.?

Ate the bread that once was stone

Fell from a cliff, never broke a bone

He mindlessly followed the curve of the beach, empty except for the occasional errant musing. His overall demeanor was broody and the sweltering heat only served to darken his mood further. Where had the years gone and when had he turned into such an adult? The previous day he had gotten up before the sun rose and not only hunted, but was consumed by the task, eager to catch a meal before it got too hot to do so. Ick. How mature and responsible of him. He'd been sulking since the moment he'd realized what he had done. This sourness had of course opened up all kind of unpleasantness and he'd found himself despairing often throughout the day. He'd even taken a trip down memory lane and all its damaging glory.

A vicious sound bounced off the walls of a nearby cave, drawing the brute out of himself and causing him to come to a standstill. Sucre eyed the yawning black mouth and, seeing nothing threatening lurking about it, began to pull inside himself again. Whatever was in there was none of his business and he didn't care to make it his.

Sucre lurked forward, ready to be on his merry way, when another sound was belched from the cave and he was forced to once again stand still and listen. This sound was loud and jagged, conjuring images of something heavy being thrown and broken. Mere seconds after the crash a smaller, breathier sound reached his ears; the gentle noise a whisper compared to the goliath clatter that had proceeded it. No. It was none of his business and he didn't care. No, not one bit. The brute was cold and unfeeling, a sociopath. Not one damn was given about whatever flipped and flopped around in that cave.

Cursing under his breath, the brute made his way towards the entrance.

He called into the dark, "Whoever you are, you better be dying or friggin' gorgeous 'cause you interrupted the little pity party I had going. It was both fabulous and emotionally harmful." The brute wasn't a particularly cautious fellow, usually choosing to accept whatever befell him with an overall genial disposition, but in this instance Su found himself tensing as he ventured further into the darkness. Now, here was the perfect place to host a pity party! It was dark, kind of creepy, and hey, something might jump out of the black and bite your face off at any second. Really, it was like the Big Man himself had created the cave just for mopey rogues.

Not far ahead a grumpy voice rumbled and Su could only guess at what was happening.

Finally, the source of the clatter was before him. "Heh-hey! Twiggy!" Sucre eyed the small gathering, trying to piece the incident together. He took in the white cross-bearing wolf, instantly recognizing her as an ally of Twig's. Protective stance aside, the cross stood out like a beacon. So what was she, a sister of the Lady in the Mist?

She bared her teeth at the grouchy male and Sucre, ever the apathetic sociopath, felt the urge to inject himself further into the situation because, of course, he didn't care about this either. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, lady, I'm sure what he meant was that he's just gonna lay there and not bother you...us...while we work." He padded closer, but remembering his encounter with the prickly Twig, stopped a comfortable distance away. "I'm a friend of Twig's." The brute hoped his casually name dropping would lower the fae's guard. He really did want to help and if she'd let him, he did know a thing or two about healing. Kinda.

Be careful making wishes in the dark
Can't be sure when they've hit their mark
As if it wasn't bad enough having one female rudely fall through the roof to disturb him with her whining and flopping around, a second female followed a short time later, though in a more controlled way. She even had the balls to snarl at him despite the fearful stance that reminded him of his coward of a half-brother.

Explosive fury blazed up, sending Hati to his feet once more, fangs bared with the intention of sinking them into the much smaller female and teaching her a lesson she wouldn't quickly forget, but his cave was once more invaded, this time by a silver-dusted black brute with red eyes - this brought to mind his sister Akemi once more, and Hati guiltily smashed the thought away - who waltzed in without even the decency to look ashamed of himself for trespassing on Hati's... well, former hideout.

"Don't be putting words in my mouth," he snapped, the fur along his back spiking up as he raised his tail and head in a clear threat. The wolf had named the first woman - Twig, what the hell kind of name was Twig? - but Hati shoved the name away. He didn't need, didn't want to know her name. He also didn't want her dying on his doorstep, so to speak, cluttering it up with all sorts of irritating memories as she flopped around in her final convulsions, loved ones wailing and carrying on and disturbing his peace.

He didn't fucking want to help her either. He didn't want them in here trying to rescue her either. At least the little silver bitch had the intelligence to be afraid of him, even if she had snarled at him.

Flashing the red-eyed male a grin that was all teeth and fury and no humor, Hati stalked forward once more. "I will tell you this once, bitch," he snarled out, keeping his eyes on the male and making it clear he wasn't talking to either of the females, "you can turn tail and run now, or you can join your girlfriend on the floor with a broken skull." His eyes slid to the small silver wolf standing over the broken female. "Same goes for you, tiny. Hate to need to make that pretty face look like mine." The leer he cast her sought to make it clear that he would have no issue with scarring up her face.

The whines from Twig told her that her sister was not doing good. She didn't dare taken her ice blues off the dark male. Her need to protect her sister overcame her normal personality of avoiding conflict and falling into panic attacks. All she knew was her sister was badly hurt, unable to move and this male was a threat. Her body tensed up, and though her body spoke of fear her eyes burned with a cold fire. Before much else could happened between her and the male, another stranger entered the cave. She showed her teeth to him, a silent warning not to come closer. A scared cornered wolf was a dangerous one, no matter their size. Anger surged through her, Well its not like she purposely broke through the roof to interrupt his pity loathing. Obviously she is hurt and cant get up, any fool could see that. If he could pulled his head out of his rear then he could leave us be so I can get her out of here! She snapped out. Never in her whole life had she said such things with such anger.

She could not help swallow down the lump in her throat as the black male turned to look at her.We all get scars in one form or another. So why threaten such a thing when its a common occurrence? Listen..i'm just wanting to get my sister out of here. Surely you can understand that and give me some space to work on getting her out? This time her voice was calm but a fury rage in her eyes, a fire trying to burst out and burn them. Slowly she moved to look at Twig, eyes always casting back up at the males every few seconds. Angel might be one of the only few in her family who had some healing knowledge. Keen eyes took in a recently healed ankle and could see it swelling again. But her main concern was how hard Twig might have hit her head. It must be bad enough if Twig couldn't even speak and just lay there. She sighed, it wasn't good. If it was a concussion, even a minor one Angel didn't want to move her. Twig would be dizzy the moment she tried to stand up. She looked at the male, mostly the black male. I cant move her right now with her head injury... She trailed off, wary of how he might react.

The concussed she wolf would not be able to physically move herself, the knock to her head still had her spinning in circles. Her ankle throbbed with pain as she tried to focus her blurry eyes. It was odd to find so many wolves around her all of a sudden. She would watch helplessly as her sister did her best to defend her, but there was still that feeling of panic that lived within the pit of her stomach. Why had she fallen into this cave? Slowly her hearing would return, and the voice she would receive first was that of her acquaintance, Sucre. It had been a good amount of time since they'd spoken, and she couldn't believe how happy she was to hear him at that moment. "I'm a friend.." had she been more coherent she would have scoffed at him. It was not much after that she would hear the unknown male burst forth with threatening speech. She wished that she was able to run, to stand, to get away from the commotion and the danger she suddenly found herself in. Then Angels sweet voice would reach her slate backed ears, she sounded angry and it didn't seem like she was backing down. Now that she could hear the whimpering had stopped. She tried to focus on moving, on gaining control of her limbs once again.?

The scarred up male was up and bitching in his face before Sucre was wholly prepared for it. Great, now he had to be all serious and whatnot. Why couldn't Snarly just lay there and do nothing? Was that so terribly hard? He had said he wasn't going to do anything, but whatever. This was precisely the reason Sucre didn't like helping wolves. You stick your neck out for someone and some asshole with daddy issues threatens you with a beating. And yeah, he was pretty sure that was part of the brute's problem. How did he know? It took one to know one. The limp-eared male had 'terrible childhood' written all over him. He was a snarling, beat-up advertisement for birth control.

If he was hoping to get a rise out of him, Limp-Ear was going to be seriously disappointed. "I'm not going anywhere without them," he stated flatly. The brute could beat on him all day, but unless he killed him--and he really would have to kill him--Sucre was going to help Twig and her sister. Hell, if the only way he could help them was to take on The Beast, he'd do it. It was a character defect of his. Sure, he'd be lying if he said he really knew Twig and he had been exaggerating when he'd said they were friends, but there was no way he'd just walk away and leave them in the dark just to save his own skin. "If you really want us gone, you have to let us work." Tension ran the length of his body; if this turned into a fight, he would be ready, although until he knew for sure which way it was going to go Sucre would remain as neutral as he could be without letting his guard down. He wasn't going to take the bait and posture or whatever, it would only give Limp-Ear more of a reason to level up his tantrum.

His eyes still fixed on the sourpuss, Sucre spoke over his shoulder to the fae. "I know it's not ideal, but she needs to be moved." Whether Twig's sister liked it or not, her only real option was to take her sister and run. "See if you can get her to stand." If nothing else and Mt. Fury permitted it, Sucre could carry or drag her out of the cave. They just needed to be out and once away from The Crabapple, Twig's injures could be more thoroughly assessed. "If nothing's broken, she can stand. It may not be comfortable for her, but she can do it, just let her lean on you. Trust me, I'm a healer." Again with the lying! Okay, so it wasn't entirely a lie; Sucre did know a thing or two about healing. Whether it was enough to call himself a healer or not was debatable.

will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns?
It made sense that if he let them take the injured female and just leave, he'd be pleasantly alone again and not have to worry about the unwanted visitors cluttering up his nice cool cave any longer. Everyone in the cave seemed pretty agreed on that, and insisted on thrusting that opinion onto his ears over and over in their irritating, strident voices. Truth was, Hati was nowhere near thinking straight at the moment, clinging to the fury like a lifeline in the sea of bad memories and waking nightmares.

So when first the female, then the male took turns not only refusing to leave immediately as he'd demanded, but spoke rudely, even insultingly to him, he gladly latched on to the anger and let it have free-rein. A sharp, cracking snarl rang from his parted jaws as he leaped forward. But who to attack? Which wolf to sink his fevered teeth into, to punish for their transgressions? To show that he was the monster they believed him to be? Gaze darted between one wolf and the other even as he leaped, the tiny, delicate female and the burly red-eyed male, their forms blurring together as the red closed in on his vision. Tiny red-eyed female, his teeth ready to sink in... Akemi!

The big male jerked to a stop, his breath catching in his chest, his vision suddenly clear again as he flinched back, his jaws so very close to having clamped onto the smart-mouthed little female. The snarl faded to a confused half-whine. He backpedaled rapidly a couple steps, but his legs were quivering in reaction and he simply dropped to his belly, his golden eyes jumping wildly between the three wolves in front of him to assure himself that no, he had not nearly mauled Akemi, that Akemi was not there.

Her eyes never strayed away from the angered male for no more han a split second at a time. She listened to the red-eyed male, unsure if she should take his advice but the way things were looking she wouldn't have much choice. Though sending an injured wolf out into that heat was a horrible idea too. She noticed Twig had stopped whining and turned to look at her older sister. She gently nuzzled her sister's shoulder and gave her cheek a few comforting licks. Twig, we need to get out of here..I'll help you ok. She said softly. She was positioning herself to Twig's side to help her stand when the male snarled.

The sound alone was enough for Angel to freeze up. Her pale blue eyes lifted up in time to see gaping jaws coming at her face. Tail hung limp and ears flattened completely against her skull. Fear held her rigid as he came at her. She could see nothing but those teeth coming at her. Too tensed with fear she couldn't even whine out, couldn't move a muscle. Her mind took her back to the battlefield when those wolves were fighting. Her breath held as she imaged blood everywhere, limbs stung about the cave, the cries of pain. As he started just short of her and flinched away, her own small frame had managed to throw itself in the far opposite corner in huddle. She couldn't remember moving, just the overwhelming panic in her chest.

Her breathes came in sharp quick gasps, her body shook uncontrollably. No, no this couldn't happen to her, no infront of them. Not infront of anyone. Her eyes squeezed shut as the panic attack seized her body. One might think she was having a seizure with how much her body trembled. She couldn't bring herself out of it. The taste of blood filling her mouth as she had apparently bitten down on her tongue. She couldn't see anything in the cave anymore, just the images her mind conjured up. ...No...no... she muttered out here and there in a distressed moan. Her body curled in on itself, trying to protect her the best as possible in her state of panic. There was nothing to do but ride it out, no cure, no help.

She had to get up, she knew she had to get up. She shouldn't have been there in the first place but it was time for her to go. She had to get control of her limbs and get herself out of the cave. Madieke would try to convince her to stand, her side was there to help her and she would do her best to gather her limbs underneath her. As she began to orient herself all progress would be lost as the strange male who had almost attacked her during the beginning would unleash himself again. He would lunge for her rescuers, then suddenly for reasons unknown he would stop. Angel was still tensed though, she had been gaining height and would continue trying to push herself onto all fours. That was when her clouded mind would notice her sister's sudden panic attack.
Had she been more aware she would have paniced a bit more. Here she was with a head injury and now her sister was seizing up. She would look to Sucre, wanting to rest her shoulder upon his side. She was having trouble keeping herself on her feet, as she watched helplessly as Angel curled into the fetus position. "Madi," she would gasp, "Madieke what is wrong?" she would whine as she tried to slip back to the earth by her sibling, orchid gaze wavering and looking to the dark male who occupied the cave and back to Sucre.

Ate the bread that once was stone

Fell from a cliff, never broke a bone

A roar from Limp Ear caused Sucre to flinch and freeze up, but only for a second as the other male's charge awakened a protective side of him he wasn't aware he had. The brute rushed forward, placing himself firmly between Hati and the Blacks and had it not been for the other wolf's sudden change of heart, they'd have met somewhere in the middle.

Standing between them with his hackles and tail raised, Sucre glared at Hati. Unlike the other, he remained silent. Watching, gauging. He wasn't sure what had happened or why the other had suddenly turned away, but all the humor had left him. He was beyond serious now and should the other take up the fight again, there would be blood.

All was still for several heartbeats as Sucre waited and it wasn't until Twig called for her sister that the brute began to breathe normally. Time returned to its normal pace. Somewhere behind him someone was struggling for air.

He didn't turn from the other male, choosing instead to keep his eyes on him while backing up to where the others were at. It was then, as he was offering Twig his shoulder, that the brute realized that Twig's sister wasn't there and it occurred to him that the gasping he was hearing was from her. His snark began to return. Great. He took pride in a lot of things, but super strength wasn't something he could claim. Hopefully she'd get her act together because there was no way he could assist both of them in getting out.

Still keeping his eyes on Hati, Sucre moved with Twig towards her sister. "Uh, Twig's sister?" What had Twig just called her? Maddy? "Madieke?" The name tumbled off his tongue with difficulty, but he pushed passed the strangeness of it. "Could you maybe do that...outside?" Lordy, at this pace they'd never get out of the cave.

will we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns?
For a long moment Hati was completely occupied with just breathing, his body shaking with reaction. That his fractured mind had conjured Akemi's face when he attacked the pale silver girl did more than startle him, it terrified him. Were the waking nightmares not bad enough, without involving the one person in the world who somehow miraculously loved him?

He hadn't noticed Sucre's heroics, hadn't noticed Twig's slow recovery, so wrapped up in his own problems was he. But something suddenly clicked shut in his mind as he shoved the shock and fear and nightmarish agony into the back of his mind, as though he were locking it in a box, and his body once more relaxed into the lines of his surly, irritable self. That's when he noticed the smallest intruder huddled behind her sister and the red-eyed male. He eyed her haughtily for a second, then demanded, "Now what the hell is her problem?" His voice was filled with disgust. "Didn't even fucking bite her. Some people have no backbone."

He got heavily to his feet. "Do whatever the hell you want, just shut her up before I have to do it." His entire manner was different, the fearful memories suppressed again for now and the rage barely coiling around him, like a poison fog in his soul. If one didn't know better they might think it a different personality entirely, they might think he was entirely insane and well... they'd be a bit right - but they didn't feel the memories straining against his blocks the way he did.

Hati isn't nice. He swears, he is violent, and is more than a little insane. If you can't handle what might come of that don't thread with him.

Hati wears a bear skull on his head unless otherwise stated in the post. He also has a ram's skull that might be switched in sometimes if he finds it again.
