Shrieking, the boy lit out across the clearing. About halfway across it he yelped and bucked as if something had bitten his haunch, allowing his body to fall dramatically to the ground. Once down he continued shrieking and yelping, every once in a while throwing in a growl, while flailing about as if he were being attacked. "RAH! GAH! EEEEEE!" While the specifics weren't clear to any observers, it was obvious that his adversaries greatly outnumbered him and he was overwhelmed.

His enemies were on him, covering him, chewing him to pieces. Throwing back his head, Nemesis howled, "NEEEEVEEER! RAAAAAAWH!" and began to free himself. With exaggerated effort, the boy got to his paws and set into his attackers. Jaws snapping, spittle flying he chased them off, howling once they were gone.

Whooping, Nemesis did a victory lap around the clearing, dipping his head at phantom observers. Once he'd been thanked and his audience had left him, the boy stopped and stared around him. Now what?

The sounds of a ruckus being raised caught the attention of the giantess, and she followed them, quite curious to discover the source of such a fuss. When she reached a clearing created by the stones, she would watch one of the new babes in the land prancing about victoriously. A small chuckle would escape her dark maw, and eerie optics would watch the pup with intrigue. When he stopped, looking about with an expression that looked comical, she would step into view with a small grin. No one could quite grasp how someone who looked so horrifying could have a soft spot for the little ones, but she did. "What sleights have befallen you, little one?" her neutral tones would inquire, deeper than those of an average lady, but still alluring when needed. Ebony pelt glistened in the autumn sunlight, and the lattice work of scars along her frame was visible even more than ever. Silvery white audits would give a flicker as she watched the child with a bemused smirk.
Standing a few paces from him, she would lower her powerful crown between her shoulders and watch him with eyes the colour of glaciers and magma. He was interesting, and appeared to be one of the babes birthed by the visiting Queen, Virgil. A cute little beast, small and pudgy, but he could be crafted into a fighter with a little discipline. Powerful haunches would be lowered to the terra, immense forepaws resting before her as she held a more relaxed manner than usual. She had nothing to fear yet, and she didn't need the little one running off in pure terror. Wickedly curved talons pierced the soil as she regarded the child with a bemused curiosity in her off putting optics.

Prone to fearlessness, Nemesis regarded the big wolf with curiosity. He should have been intimated by her size, or her eyes or any number of things, but he wasn't. With naive innocence, he regarded the giant as a potential playmate.

She spoke to him, dropping big words on him and leaving him without a clue as to what she was saying. Befallen? Like 'he be fallen, yo'? If that was the case she was mistaken, because he hadn't fallen down. At least with that word he had an idea of what she meant. What the heck were 'sleights'? Instinctively he understood that she was asking about what he was doing although the words she used to ask him were confusing. "I got attacked by bad guys and then chased them off." He said proudly, glossing over the fact that his bad guys had been imaginary.

He gasped as something he'd noticed when she'd walked up to him clicked. "You don't have a tail! That's so cool!" Unabashedly interested in her rump, Nemesis ran around the fae to get a better look at her stumpy tail. "Did you lose it in a fight? "
