ooc note: Officially this is for all wolves 2 years and younger, to learn the basics of healing. However, I'm gonna leave it open in case any of the adults want to come and learn a wee bit, Eris is training Vereux and Esperenza officially, and both are welcome to appear here and assist- and listen!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mid-day, and it was one of the few days that it wasn't snowing. The autumn air was crisp as she left her den, the rocky formation directly behind her, when she threw her head up in summons for the youth- and any other members of Glaciem that wanted to show up. The children had begun their training in fighting, and hunting but they now needed to learn the basics of healing. There wouldn't always be a healer around to treat them, and lives could be saved if everyone knew just the basics. The call was long and loud, she knew it would echo around the pack lands. Settling back on her haunches the tiny woman would wait, hoping that everyone had the sense to heed her call. Glaciem had served as a disappointment enough to their sick king as of late, Gods only knew he didn't need anymore.
She thought about the piles of herbs she had arranged just inside her den, so that she could fetch them quickly. She didn't want to bombard the pups with information, but she had to decide what they needed to know, and that was a lot. She wondered if Esperenza and Vereux would come, she needed to get them both started with their lessons, and she was curious to see what they both knew already. Her tail flicking against the clutter of leaves, she impatiently waited.
Though healing certainly wasn't something that Talvi had been quite so eager to learn, the girl had still been awaiting for the healing lessons to actually take place. It was a skill after all and even if she preferred to focus upon her fighting healing would still be of use to her and so whenever they were called forwards she planned upon attending. And so as Eris finally called called them, Talvi would be swift to move.
She was the first to arrive it seemed, none of the other children of the pack present. Even Vereux was currently missing she noted, though her half-brother had chosen healing as his main area of focus. He would be along she was sure of it, though had still expected others to have arrived by now. She had gotten very prompt at attending to the lessons though it seemed. Silently she would sit and wait.
Vereux had been trying to pick himself up, he felt bad for his absence in the pack. He had been trying though, and now coming to the meeting seeing Talvi brought a soft smile to his face. He was obviously worried about his father but that wouldn't shine through so easily. Taking a seat next to his half sister he looked to Eris his mentor. Oh great, now he had to explain to her how much he sucked at identifying herbs right now being totally new at this. "Morning." he said with a slight wag of his tail to hide nervousness.
Vereux sighed, it was better than nothing and he was glad he wasn't too late. Among all these wolves he was probably not the greatest. Though obviously he hadn't been through much. But of course his scars told a different story for the yearling. Maybe once he turned two years of age things would be different. He'd feel stronger, feel better. Though all he could do now was concentrate and wait.
What good was it to know how to fight if you didn't know how to heal up your wounds after the fight? At least that's what Athena told herself as she trotted toward the source of the call for all the young wolves of the pack. She did want to be well rounded in all of her training so there she was, making the trek from the den she had picked out for herself in the Mile-High Woods to find Eris.
Athea arrived right after her brother and smiled slightly when she saw him and her half-sister, Talvi, already there. "A little family reunion, eh?" she commented with a chuckle before turning her emerald and ruby gaze to Eris and giving her a little dip of her head. Athena sat back on her haunches, her tail curling around her as she prepared to wait for any more of the youth of the pack to appear.
She remembered Vereux's response to her appearance at the hunting training, but the silver fea could honestly care less. In the past she had never liked seeing her brothers since it only ended in torment for her, but now that she had finished growing and had returned to find her place in the pack she had hoped to put that behind her and get to know her siblings better. If he didn't want that then she wouldn't waste her time. Her gaze flickered over to him breifly before focusing back on Eris, reminding herself that she was here to learn, not to think about her brother's petty actions.
So she would wait and the turn out was less than she expected. She took note of the three to arrive. She'd see to it that Sendoa would know who had came, they should be rewarded. The first was a daughter of Argent, that much she knew, though she hadn't yet met her. Eris would smile warmly at her, introducing herself. "I haven't got to meet you yet, dear. I am Eris." She would speak, her tone warm. Another would arrive, Vereux. Nodding at him, she would greet Vereux, "Morning." Moments later, Athena would also arrive, and she would smile at the girl, greeting her, "Athena."
"Thank you three for attending, it's nice to see that you show ambition and loyalty. Sendoa will be made aware of your attendance and your siblings... lack of participation." She paused for a moment, glancing about the three of them. "I know healing is a rather dry trade, especially for those who appreciate the action of battle. However, I'd like to explain some basics of the trade, as each of you will probably be in a battle situation that could call for it. Who knows, you could save a life... maybe an enemy who could then owe you that life debt, a family member, or even your own. Too many wolves know how to maim and injure- but can't heal the smallest of cuts, or how to pull a thorn from their paw and treat it so that it doesn't become infected. " She gave a chuckle, then added, "Or they eat a poison, a herb or berry that kills them. A basic knowledge of herbs is a good trademark of an intelligent leader."
"All great Kings, Queens, and warriors have to heed the advice of a healer eventually." She pointed out. Pausing for another moment, she was ready to begin. "I'll begin with a question, you were probably warned as a pup not to eat certain plants and berries. What was one of them?"
Athena forced herself to turn her thoughts away from her brother and back onto Eris as the healer began to speak. She and her brother would have plenty of time later to clear the air later if he so wished, but for now she would try her best to listen to what Eris had to say. All the points that their teacher brought up about the healing trade were very true and the comments she made about healing knowledge being important for a good leader really caught Athena's attention. Eris did have a point and it made the lesson a little more worth it for the silver girl. At least there was a legitimate reason for her to try to absorb as much information as you could since she was determined to lead one day.
Eris began the lesson with what probably should have been a fairly simple question, had her mother not run off when she was so young or had their father ever taken the time to give more than passing complements. However, since this was the case, Athena rummaged through her memories of being out on her own, trying to think of something that would be helpful. A memory surfaced and she spoke up. "Nightshade. I saw an obviously not so intelligent deer eat some once and found it dead a short time later."
