Thoughts Give Form To Words

"Go and Wander." Said my heart.
...and so I would wander.
The healer was feeling bright, teal-green eyes shining as she lay by the water of Fontamo Bay. The sun, how it shown down upon her coat. Her head was raised for the moment, gazing across the water as the sun sparkled upon it. So very, very beautiful it was. The ocean she had briefly visited, however, was all the more beautiful. She could remember it so clearly... The day she arrived. The woman she had met too... It was a wonderful day indeed. Ellis would breathe out a small, content sigh, laying her head down upon her front legs as she stretched in the sand.
The days were colder now... Winter would be along any day she was sure. There was the biting wind... She could feel it. Winter was a season that didn?t bother her much, minus the sickness it brought along. But she liked the snow... As a child she found it fun to play and romp around in. Playing with her brothers and sisters... It was wonderful. Ears would twitch happily at the memory. Someday she hoped to have pups as well... And play with them in the snow... Share with them stories of her homeland and their relatives.
For now she could look to ?owyn and Birch?s brood as a set to teach. While not all the info she wished to pass to young ones could necessarily be shared... It certainly wouldn?t hurt to teach them some things... And be there with them while they grew. Birch and ?o were efficient parents... Yet they still would need a hand at handling the pups now and then. Part of her wondered if either child would have any interest at all in learning first aid at the very least... It would be interesting to have a pupil to teach.

It had been the first chains of freedom released from her grasp. She had let her children wander with each other on their own and expected them to remain near the den and away from the water. She had to let go, she knew that she didn't want to, perhaps it was just her being over protective, but her children were sacred. Yes, sacred to her because they are her first litter as well as her only litter so far. She took a deep breathe as the healer came into view, Ellis. The woman had been such a help to her since the beginning of her pregnancy and ?owyn owed her a lot because of it. "Ellis!" She said happily with a smile as her tail wagged fiercely.
Her dark tawny pelt had been freshly groomed as she walked up to the woman by the lake. "How are you today Ellis?" she asked calmly with a smile.

The woman would look up, turning her gaze to ?owyn as the other woman walked up beside her. ??owyn, a good day to you.? She would smile, her happiness at seeing the other woman reflecting in her voice. ?It is going well. I?ve just been doing some thinking is all, and worrying a tad, as I often due this time of year. Bad habits like that tend to die hard.? She would give a soft chuckle, rising so that she was sitting now. Gaze would resettle upon the golden orbs of the woman she chose to lead her.
?The children are out exploring I assume?? She would ask, a gentle smile on her face. It was no secret how much Ellis cared for the two... Anyone with eyes could see how she looked after them along with their parents. They were the future of the pack ?owyn hoped to form. Laria, she figured, would become the heir, while Sequoyah followed suit after his father as a guardian and knight. Though Birch had agreed to be an alpha at ?o?s side... The man still had some maturing to do before he could truly be a leader. His lax and playful nature... Well... Might invite trouble. But there would be time to figure that out later.

The woman trusted Ellis, Birch, and her children more so than any other wolves she had to meet. She had something constantly plaguing her mind and she wanted to bring it up with Ellis before presenting it to Birch himself. "Ellis, I don't think we have the member count to start a pack from scratch. I wanted to run something by you before I share it with Birch, to see if I should actually go through with it." She confessed as her rump settled down and she sat up with a strong yet regal appearance. Her tail slowly swept over the dirt as he waved back and forth with a small amount of happiness. She intended on waiting until Ellis was ready in order to share her plan.
?owyn had been scouting around the other territories as she could wander farther when her children were off with Ellis or Birch. It was then that she had found it, she had found something special, a pack that she felt she could rule if she were to challenge and win it for her own rule. Ludicael. She held her breathe as she rose and headed towards the den, staring at the back wall rather dramatically before turning to face Ellis, anticipation welling up as she walked across the coarse dirt, her dry pads practically scraping across it. She felt the pain but she endured it, she was strong. She could do it, but she wanted to opinions of her trusted guide and her mate. Both Ellis and Birch were like family. Well, Birch was actually her family but Ellis not officially.
The sun was high up in the sky, her eyes soft with her gaze as her muscles tensed slightly at the noise of a bird outside. Laria... Sequoyah. She thought but she knew they would be safe with Ian watching at a distance as she had commanded. She appreciated the guardian being there for her children. Her shoulders flex slightly, she was very restless. She hadn't been sleeping well because Laria had the habit to kick her mother while she was asleep. The woman had a kind smile on her muzzle, eager to tell Ellis her plan.

The femme would frown a little as ?owyn spoke, ears flicking back a bit. Had some of their members truly disappear then, as she feared? The woman would listen though, surprised that the woman had something she wanted to discuss with her first before talking about it to Birch. Happiness would well up in her heart. The trust the other woman had for her, and the trust she had in ?o was truly a wonderful thing. Ellis would give a nod. "Of cours. You are welcome to talk to me about anything, ?owyn."
The woman would rise, following ?o back to her den. Whatever was on the other femme's mind, she wanted to give her honest opinion and advice on the matter. It dealt with pack matters sure enough, and the woman could only wonder what her leader had come up with. The she wolf would sit once both were inside, tail curling around her toes. "I am all ears. What is this idea of yours?"

Ellis agreed to listen and a small smile grew on her muzzle as she prepared to tell the trusted healer her plan. "While Birch had the kids one time I went scouting out other territories and I came to a decision. I am going to challenge the alpha of Ludicael for the pack. I'll have the territory, the member account. My kids will have an official and safe home to grow up in." She shared with the healer with an anxious look. What would the healer think of this plan? Would it be considered stupid? Would she be asked to wait? Or was the healer suggesting she go ahead with it. Nervousness filled her. She slowly gulped as she let her anxiety, her anxiousness show through. The tired female was starting to get an equivalent to bags under her eyes.
Her eyes flickered with a sense of insecurity, the first she had shown since entering Alacritia and before meeting Birch nearly five months prior to the conversation between the two women. She blinked softly as she paced around the den, hearing the bird sound once more she tensed slightly, her ears perking as she listened. Stop worrying, Sequoyah and Laria will be fine. Last time I saw them they were playing in a cave nearby. No bird would go in there. She had to convince herself as she sat down and looked to the healer for some sort of answer. She relaxed, her worries fading from her eyes as her tail went back to slowly wagging against the dirt.
It was about midday outside and she knew Laria and Sequoyah would go barging in for food soon, but she had more important matters to worry about and Birch would probably be checking in on them (she assumed) anyway.

The young woman would listen, teal-green eyes closing as she gave the plan some thought. Challenging for a pack, rather than making one... It would solve the problem of finding enough wolves to sustain a territory. Though it would mean that Fontamo Bay as a home would be jeopardized... Should her challenge prove fruitful, well, they would all be in a better position. A stable home to live in and safety for the children. Other wolves to help with tasks, even those as simple as hunting... With established borders and even just simply more to interact with.
After some thought Ellis would open her eyes, speaking softly. ?It has been troubling to see some of our members disappear... So, in order to ensure that the pack is created sooner, rather than later, this may be your best move. I am here to support you with the idea, and will back it up completely. Although...? She would smile gently as she said the next bit. ?While you prep for the challenge it may be wise to adjust sleeping arrangements. You looked terribly tired, and you need to ease your anxiety, as well as be fully rested, before going into battle. I can bring you some herbs tonight, if you want, to help with your sleep and nerves.? Thyme... Rather than poppy seeds. It was stronger, and worked a bit better. She would flick her tail.
?You seem on edge too... The children are fine.? She would chuckle. ?I saw Birch just after they left, following after them at a distance. He?ll watch over them.?

A small smile grew across her muzzle as the healer gave her honest input of the plan. She could now ask Birch since she was positive it wasn't some crazy idea, but actually fairly logical. Then the healer started to speak of adjusting her sleeping arrangements so ?owyn gave a small chuckle. "Laria is a kicker when she sleeps, literally." She explained with a small yawn. "Yes please Ellis, I haven't been sleeping well since about a week before the pups were born." She said in response to the offer for herbs to aid her in her sleep and with her anxiety. She took a deep breathe to calm herself down with Ellis' last words of the pups being watched at a distance by her mate. It calmed her down knowing with whatever that bird was out there that the pups had an adult with them.
She sighed slightly. "I constantly worry about them both, Laria more so than Sequoyah because she has developed a bit of a rebellious personality. It's hard to talk sense into her and Sequoyah is turning out more like his father by the day." She explained to the healer as she tried to not think about what might happen. She laid down, her head resting on her paws as she looked to the healer.

Ellis would give a nod when ?owyn spoke, explaining the reason for her lack of good sleep. Laria was kicking as she dreamed it seemed. It wasn?t such an uncommon thing with pups, though a bit problematic when ?o was the one to truly hold things together. Birch would try... But he was more of a support than the leader type. She would frown deeply when she had heard how long it had been going on too. About a week before the pups were born. So several moons without proper sleep. The woman would give a nod. ?It is no problem... And I?ll collect some more of the herb for while we are here.? That was going to be the one thing... Transferring her herbs should the challenge be successful.
She would give a nod as the mother would explain her worries. ?It is understandable that you would worry, ?owyn. They are your babies, regardless of how much they grow, and they always will be. But though they are young yet, and are branching off more boldly, I am sure that they will be alright. Laria may be rebellious... But I am sure, if it came down to it, she would change her decision if things started to look wrong. She is a bright girl... And Sequoyah often follows her... It is clear he is protective of her, just as Birch is protective of you. He?s following the path of a knight... And even if Laria does get in a bit too deep I am sure he?d help get her out, even if we weren?t there yet. They?ll watch out for each other.? She would smile gently at the other fae.
?So it may be hard... But try not to worry about them too too much.?
