ooc: set after the pack has been given the cure. roman's still sick... you'll see why in this post x3. All tort wolves welcome c:

Her head throbbed, and again she found herself cursing her ignorant decision not to take the herbal cure that the Covari queen had brought them. It had to be poison though- how else would she know the cure? Her eyes burned, and she shuffled further into her den, trying to hide from the brightly lit world outside. Her fever was back, stronger than it had been since the poison began, and she shivered. She was getting weaker, with each passing day- and with that, she grew afraid. She wasn't even laying on the soft mossy nest she had for herself, rather laying further back in the dug out set, as far away from the light as she could manage. A slow whine left her jaws, as she rubbed at her head weakly with her paws.

She was going to die, and she knew it. The question was... how long would she be tortured before she gave into the demons that cheered from the shadows of her mind? What would happen to Tortuga without her? Would they disband, or would Qanik hold the small family together? Would they even miss her if she was gone? The seizures that had wracked her body had left her weaker than she had ever felt. She hadn't been able to make it out of her den the last couple of days, to get to a stream for water. She was thirsty, and her face was matted with dried blood. She was dying and she was hideous. It was an atrocity. The idea of the herbs dangled in her mind, but she shoved the thought away. She could fight this on her own.. couldn't she?

ooc: Behold! Bitch Gossy has been released.

Cure grasped tightly between her teeth Gossamir strode toward her alphas den with her head and tail held high. She had had just about enough of Roman's temper tantrums and hallucinations. Gossamir was a mistress of poison. While a fledgling healer, poisons were her art. And she knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that the cure they were given was in no way, shape or form going to kill the queen. Hell they'd tried it on everyone else and they were fine. The other packs had equal luck.

Crouching at the den door she dropped the herbs and crouched down. She was done screwing around. "Why don't you admit that you hate me?" Venom dripped from her voice in the stickiness of hurt and the sharpness of a blade. "You don't even want me in this pack do you? I spend my whole life learning the art of poison and I can swear on my life on the my mothers life on the life of my great-grandmothers fucking teat that this won't hurt you but nooooo?" She snorted and gave her best glare to the other woman. "You find your own packmate so unworthy?" If kindness and gentleness could not get through to this woman then maybe cruelty could. And if not that? well she had a back up plan. Speaking of where was his furry little butt anyway? Glaciem wolves?. oi.

Qanik

in defense of the innocent

Qanik was not in fact Gossamir's backup plan, or if she was she certainly wasn't aware of it, but she was there behind Gossamir as she pushed her way to the den with herbs in her mouth. Solemnly, she stood by as Gossamir crouched by the den and let loose her diatribe. As Gossamir's words came to an end Qanik took up the baton from her position next to the younger wolf, her voice gentle and soft, the coaxing tone a stark contrast to Gossamir's rant. Good cop, bad cop was the human phrase, though she didn't know it and it was unintentional anyway.

"Roman, we only want to help you. Gossamir's right - if anyone in Alacratia could recognize a poison it would be her. We've tested the herbs countless times. Shay has even been forcefeeding squirrels to see the effects," she forced a chuckle at that, for the one-eyed healer-trainee really had been catching squirrels and feeding them the cure... along with other herb combinations that actually did have terrible effects until Qanik had made him stop, "and it causes them no harm. We know it cures the sickness. Please Roman, just let us help you."

She doesn't mean to be so difficult, so crude. As Gossamir pushes into her den and breaks into a raving rant, Roman mimics her, her jaws issuing no words as she mouths her speech. Her reaction is so childish, so bratty, she starts to giggle before swatting her own paw at her own face. Qanik's there suddenly, and Roman backs even further against the hollowed out ground of her den. Their words are garbled now, they don't make sense, and take on a darker tone in her mind. They're the demons coming to take her way- piece by piece- starting with her sanity. If she were rational, she'd realize they were trying to help her- but in her irrational state, she feels trapped, cornered. Letting out a whine, she curls tighter into herself, trying to put as much distance between them and her, as she can. She can see the demons in the shadows now, their red eyes gleaming as their claws extend for her. She snaps into the air, trying to scare them away- but she is weak.. so weak. "NO!" She screams, her voice harsh, strangled- the cry that of desperation. She doesn't want them to take her. To end her. "don't make me go." She whispers, her violet eyes large and fearful as she stares into the darkness- she doesn't see Qanik or Gossamir anymore- she can smell them, but even their scents are growing distorted as the demons move in.

Why didn?t Roman believe her? Ritsuka had felt irritated as well, for he trusted Gossamir and her judgment on the herbs, had seen the effects firsthand that it had on a couple of their packmates. They were not poison, yet the queen had refused to eat them, convinced of the opposite. What would it take to prove to her otherwise? How many would need to consume the combination before her to see the truth? Ritsuka made his way after Gossamir, at a bit of a distance, though he would hear her rant, her sharp words. He couldn?t blame her for her sharpness, and he would edge into the large den as well, gently pressing his shoulder against Gossamir?s for support.

But Roman was gone again, falling into hallucinations. As kind as Ritsuka was, like any wolf he too had a breaking point. He would give a deep, irritated sigh, flicking his gaze to the other two. ?If she doesn?t eat this cure she could very well die. I?m voting just force-feeding her, rather than the squirrels. Hell, I even volunteer to do it.? He had not fallen ill, but he had seen enough of this damn sickness. It would haunt his memories for times to come... And Blizzard?s disappearance during the epidemic had the male on edge as well. Had his sister fallen ill? Was she dead? He had searched, he had, but there was no sign of her. He could only pray that she was safe. But, for the moment, he had an alpha to help deal with.

Drashiel was late but he'd arrived. The young brute had been suffering terribly, torn up at night by dreams he couldn't get out of his head. The murder. How could he have?. and what he did with D?gmar? Isardis was dying and he was convinced that his father was already dead. And now Roman was next. Gossamir had sought his help to try and save her. Drashiel moved around the wolves that were huddled around her as Gossamir swiftly introduced him and backed up.

"Roman? Roman it's me, it's Drashiel. Roman please? Isar? we're losing him. I don't want to loose you too. Please? I- I'm in trouble. I need help."

Sunlight failed but only for a while

In the moonlight pale someone made me smile

Gossamir tried to offer Ritsuka a smile as he showed up but she frowned at his suggesting. She really didn't want to force Roman but if this didn't work they'd have no choice they certainly couldn't stand here and let her kill herself. At least Qanik was here as well. The old woman was usually the voice of reason but soon Drashiel had showed up and she hoped that some of Roman's family could persuader her to eat the cure.
