It was just under a day after the pack meeting called by the newly promoted Praetor of Tortuga, and the summer child had been blessed with the rank of lead fighter. It was both good and odd news for the male. Surely he was not that good of a fighter, let alone a leader. He was just so... worried. Pacing across the cold ice where the meeting had been, the moments of him being promoted replaying like a broken record, cracking each time. The scents from the wolves in attendance were still fresh in his mind, and in the material world. His honey gaze broke out into the snowy landscape as he paced, moving back and forth, back and forth, endlessly pursuing a decision.

Had the Tortugan Queen made the right choice of him as the Optio? The pair never did do wrong, but were logical about their choices, and were fair. "I just don't know how to lead..." He didn't know it wasn't knowing that led, but heart that led.

She had thought long and hard about the promotions of Ritsuka and August. She didn't doubt their capabilities, but she had to be sure- they were the wolves right for the job. Roman found herself lurking around the lake, a day after the meeting and her eyes lit up slightly, as she saw the familiar form of August. As she sped up to catch up with him, she overheard his words- her brow furrowing slightly. "Leading is about doing what's best for those who follow you- basically.. follow your heart." She said softly as she approached. She came close to him- as close as he would allow, her head moving to give him a friendly bump on his shoulder.

"I have faith, that you'll be a fantastic leader." She said sincerely, her violet eyes seeking his golden gaze. "How often am I wrong?" She teased, a small smile on her jaws as she chuckled, her eyes dancing with humor. She wondered what was really bothering the male, was he really convinced he couldn't do this?

The queen came, cheerful as ever as of late. Since the meeting, she was much happier with herself for some reason. Violet eyes sought out his own gaze, as he would return the friendly bump on the shoulder. "I guess I'm just a bit surprise you and Qanik chose me as the Optio. I'm not that good at fighting, am I?" A chuckle came from his inky lips as short and sweet. "You aren't ever wrong, most of the time." His striped tail swung behind him as he gave her a lick upon her shoulders of respect, obviously more cheerful since the presence of Roman.

"How did you become such a good leader?" This question truly did beat at his skull, begging to be answered in some manner. Someday he might have to be a leader for his pack, but he just wasn't sure of himself... yet...

She listens carefully, as the golden and tan male begins to speak and she chuckles. "You did impressively in your training session, with Dayton- and when we sparred. You'll do well. You're humble too- I can't deny that I like that about you as well." She says with a teasing smile, her jaws moving to playfully nip at his scruff in return of his respectful, and affectionate greeting. At his next question, she grows perplexed. She never really thought of herself as a good leader. Of course, her doubts weren't outwardly revealed, and she portrayed herself as one. Perhaps confidence was key? She thinks for several moments, before she speaks. "I always try to do what's best for my family- before I worry about my own ambitions. I follow my heart- and do what it decides to be right, even if its unconventional." She speaks carefully, unsure if she is telling him what he needs to hear. "Leading is three parts listening, and one part commanding." She says, her violet eyes shimmering studying him. Will he understand her last bit of advice?
