Dancing in the Dark

Ebon fur flashed purple highlights as the smallest Saxe sibling squirmed her way through the entrapping briers. Her expression showed no irritation despite the tug and scratch of thorns, just a vaguely thoughtful happiness. A soft whispered song like the burble of a brook even fell from her muzzle. Why was she so happy? No reason, really, except what was the point of being unhappy? The spring weather was beautiful, her stomach was full, so why shouldn't she have a bit of pep in her step?
She came finally into a big clearing, with plenty of room, and she took full advantage of it, bounding around the brier-free area like a ball bouncing off walls before finally flopping down, panting, in the middle of the clearing. She snuggled down into the tall grass with a satisfied grin. As much as she loved to be with her siblings, sometimes it could be just too much, and both Neios and Nausica and their follower Pandia all had a tendency toward fury and sarcasm and the like, that she just didn't share. She needed this alone-time to let out all the joy sometimes.
