It was certainly nice to have Song home and watching his daughter and mate interact now was rather lovely as well. The three tiny bundles lay asleep, oblivious to the fact they were now meeting their eldest sister for the first time and for a moment the peacefulness was certainly enough for Dutiron to forget the more serious matters, his aching back for starters and the growing population of the already large pack.
Song would bring that topic straight back to him now with a question as to how the pack had been fairing in her absence. It certainly wasn't an easy one to answer honestly. The pack was doing alright for the most part, but for how much longer if issues weren't addressed. He just hoped that Song was doing as well as she appeared to, she certainly seemed in a far better state than when she had last stood before her parents like this. Ironic how she had handed the pack to them when she had been weak and in need of help and now in the same place the roles had reversed.
"The pack is doing ok, getting a little overpopulated perhaps but for now we aren't suffering for it." That was the easy part. The man would sigh slightly as he looked away from Song before opening his mouth once more to admit the harder part of the news to his daughter. "I am not doing so well however, I've hurt my back and it's taking a while to recover."
She was very much concerned for her husband, she'd been trying to care for his injury but with the pups it was proving difficult. She was sure that her alpha duties were slaking, and she knew that were it not for Frith's effort she would not be as plump as she was at that very moment. Being there with Song was wonderful, being able to introduce her to her new siblings was even better. She'd nuzzle her eldest then, listening as Dutiron would answer her question.
She was worried about him. She knew that she shouldn't be worrying about her mate, he was strong and very much capable. However the time it was taking for his back to heal would cause her more anxiety than she'd let on. They were growing older, and they both knew it. Previously they'd spoken briefly of handing down the thrown, and here Song looked so vibrant. "Song, I know you've just returned, but. We wish to give you back your crown."
Her father would speak with regret, his words reminding her of the age their parents were coming to. She should have been amazed that all of her new siblings had made it from the womb unscathed. She'd nuzzle each again as her features returned to the height of her father, eyes falling upon him again. A look of concern would cover her features, wanting to nuzzle her aging parents but her attention would be shifted to Novel.
The scene was very similar to the one in which Novel and Dutiron became Authors of Ludicael. Eyes would widen only slightly at the words, if she were to really be truthful with herself she couldn't say she didn't see such events transpiring. Thoughts would momentarily shift to Jupiter and their brief meeting. She couldn't help but wonder if the former queen would be making a visit to her home. "Of course, mom."
Novel would take the lead now and continue, offering Song the pack once more. Dutiron would keep silent though lift his gaze to the girl again as he awaited her response. Shocked of course, though the expression showed slightly across her features and it was still a few moments before she actually answered them. And the answer would be a yes. There would be a weight lifted from his shoulders though unfortunately that imaginary weight wasn't the cause of his back problem and the moment he moved he knew that the pain would likely return.
He could only hope that this wouldn't be too much on Song again. He imagined, hoped perhaps was the better word, that this Garthinaw would be there to help Song. Cherokee leaving had been part of her problem to begin with after all. He just hoped that they weren't making her rush back into leadership, that she genuinely was ready. "Thank you. We'll help as much as we can." He responded. "There are some others that have been rather helpful in the pack as well." Frith of course amongst them even if Song knew nothing about the man just yet.
