Skillet - Never Surrender
The brute didn't trail far behind his mate. He could sense the stress in her, and it did not help him with his own any. The past few days had been trying for him. He liked being close at hand for Avalon. But Arian hated his guts, and he didn't feel at ease in Sonticus. He wasn't used to pack life. He wasn't used to all of this. But he had to become so, and soon. Newol was about to make a great step forward. He was about to become a father. The time was over. It was over and said and done. All things had worked themselves around. He was no longer tied to the ancient royal bloodline. He had escaped that. And he finally had a woman at his side who he loved. And soon he would have a legacy of his own to take care of, growing safe and warm inside the belly of one of the most beautiful females he'd every seen. He didn't much care for the surroundings. But you couldn't have everything. All he knew right now was that he wanted to see Avalon smile. To feel her against him, and see her feeling safe and sure. Because it brought ease to his own heart. Especially a creature of habit such as him. Especially away from home like this. Avalon was his world, yes. Otherwise he wouldn't even be this far from the West. But when you drive a stick in the ground and claim Home, well... You drive a stick in the ground and you fekkin' claim Home. He new his place well though. This was his home in a sense. In a different way than the no longer needed sanctuary in the mountains, or the much awaited sanctuary in the gorge on The Plains. This was where he belonged as he stepped from the brush behind his mate. He knew she needed him. And he needed her. She didn't realize just how much. Without saying a word, he would walk up beside her and lay down at her side. His warm side pressed against hers. Laying his head at his paws, he would close his eyes and take a long sigh of a breath. For a moment, he was content. He and Avalon, the rest of the world could go to hell now. With a chuckle he would nuzzle her softly. "Boy oh boy. We are actually all grown up now. Can you believe we finally made it here, love?" It was a really impressive thought. Three years ago, the two of them had been young and restless, hiding from the world in a cave up in the mountains. Now they where adults and parents to be. He couldn't wait though. He was scared, sure. But he wouldn't let his children know what it was like to lose a parent as he had. He owed his mother that much. Both of them. "Speech" |
