12 hours in and broken hearted

Run. The word kept repeating in his mind. Push yourself. Move as fast as you can and when you feel like falling, move even faster. He hurt, his lungs burned and his muscles screamed. Even the lightning lost its luster after a while. But he had to move, no matter how much his body screamed at him to fall, to collapse on the earth and let his legs relax. But no, no he could not. His daughter, his little rambunctious little girl was out there somewhere. Cold and terrified and alone...hurt...or worse. The very thought pushed him harder, calling for his daughter and putting his nose to the earth. Every second mattered and so many of them had passed since the last second he had seen his baby girl. At least...at least it had been when she was being courageous. No! He shook his head, feeling all the weight push at him as he continued to move. No, thoughts like those were not allowed! They would find her. They would have her again. Or so help him. Or Gods help him. Glaciers cry for his daughter caused the tears to return, his eyes hadn't really cleared for even a second since that moment. But he refused to stop, refused to wallow in his sorrow, refused to face reality. Every moment that went by that they didn't find her… His chest clenched at that, ice rushing his veins. It felt…like someone had turned the light out. And oh, Current. His mind was so full it hurt, his heart was so heavy he was sure it stopped beating from time to time. But he couldn't stop. He had to keep going, keep moving. For Gaia, for Current, for his entire family. It had been so long since they had felt sorrow like this,if this could be compared to what they had known. There was only one other time he had felt this sorrow, and a similar panic...when they were pulled from their siblings. They had worried more for their brothers and sisters safety than their own. But this...this was like that feeling in hyperspeed. He felt it all, in all 12 hours they have been searching. Normally he felt things quickly but this.…this blind sighted him. With a sigh he'd turn to his brother, faultering slightly as his legs gave out. He stumbled, clenching his jaw before sighing and looking up at Glace. "G-Glace...I..." he called, feeling his jaw grow right and his lungs burn. It felt like someone grabbed him by throat, shaking him for the very thought. Maybe we should...stop it had been too long. They were exhausted. But how could they stop! What if she was just around the next bend, needing him. "I don't know what to do..." He admitted in the tightest of voices, feeling everything suddenly break. The tears fell and he needed to lay down, needed to breathe. She was out there somewhere and for the first time in her young, precious, fragile life...he couldn't reach her.… "Burn Baby Burn" |
