Work It Out

Abaven was... dead. Not fully, no, but it was silent and desolate; the pack was a mere shadow of itself. Ever since Wren had appeared, Bass had been distant, docile, and sedentary, all the while not performing his duties as alpha. He was as scarce, if not more so, than some members of the pack. It was saddening, and Váli couldn't bare it - so she decided to go away for a while, and to learn about other lands, and perhaps meet new friends.
That, ultimately, was what led her to the North. The older woman hadn't been up there in a very long time, and truthfully... she was a bit reminiscent of the past lately, mostly due to, well, Abaven's fall and Bass' melancholy and disappearance. She wouldn't head over to the west just yet, but she would head here, which she explored in her youth so many years ago.
The snow was gone from here, and Váli stared with awe the beauty that the north held in these twisting limbs that reached towards the sky. She laughed joyously, marveling in how quickly she could gain altitude simply by leaping from limb to limb. "This is beautiful!" She didn't shout it out, but she wasn't exactly quite; exultation was in every ounce of her body. She felt so free and peaceful, and almost at home in the quiet and natural beauty of this colder world she found herself in.
She balanced precariously on a rather thick limb that was... well.... intertwined going forward, but there was nothing really keeping her on otherwise. She was pretty high up, and the thrill of the danger filled her, her eyes glittering as she crouched. True, she wasn't in too much danger because she could simply lurch her body away from the drop, but even so, seeing that she was several feet in the air caused her heart to pound loudly and heavily in her chest. Oh, yes, this was exhilarating.
